Barca - how did you find the response when you started
chants?
Not bad - but my point is there are often conflicting chants and the result is a shambles rather than a unified whole. Let's face it - it works better with a few leaders and many joining in. I'm not setting myself up as a leader - just asking for a bit more co-ordination in the chants that are already being generated down the front.
whoever was up the back banging on the corrugated iron, good work
for getting a beat going.
There's not too many A-League grounds that the get the whole crowd involved in singing quite like the clapping Phoenix one
Perhaps to maintain some rhythm in the singing qwe should get the drums round closer <stirring smiliey>
Nobody really took up my 'You're going home in a westpac rescue flight' aimed at teh Newcy fans! :(
Stand up if you hate Melbourne ?

I agree, however same old aussies always cheatin gets boring i have
a few suggestions.
I think this is a champion effort BUT... please spell Phoenix right!! O before E for the Phoenix!! I'll stop my rant now
True that.
There are leaders Benny, but unlike the end of the Bloc it's a
thousand people, and that's hard to make it flow...
Biggest disappointment for me on Sunday was that there wasn't a
sound after the goal went in. That's the time when the FZ
should be trying to lift the roof off the place.
it took about 5 minutes to come to terms with the fact we were somehow losing
No one will listen to me i'm only 13

I think we have established that it's not starting chants that's the problem - it's getting everyone sing the same song without having clapclap Phoenix start up every five minutes because that's all they know FFS.

Lift your game Fever!
The first half was not too bad but the second was a shambles. For
long periods it was pretty quiet and we never really reached the
intensity of game one. Now, ok, the match had a different intensity
but we fell short of our role of lifting them...
Some observations from the back (Row V) of the FZ:
1. If you are in the FZ you stand (and chant) - end of story - there were a lot of seated people back here.
2. We need more chants and organisation. The main chant (clapclap clapclapclap clapclapclap clapclap PHOENIX! arms raised) is great and gets most people into it - but we use it too often.
3. It's pretty hard to hear the chants that begin in the front of FZ - when a chant starts the middle should turn around and spread the chant to the back - also - keep it going - it takes time to learn the more compicated chants (this is the main reason the simple ones work - but we can do better)
4. Everyone learn the Skatalites PHOENIX CITY - some at the back of bay 23 tried to get it going but it didn't take off.
5. A group behind me (often!) started chants about their girlfriend being a skank or how drunk they were - no one else gives a f**k and no one else is going to join in.
6. The way the FZ emptied out immediately after the final whistle because we had lost was DISGRACEFUL. We allowed the Jets a free walk off and only a few clapped the Nix off.
7. On the plus side - "Same old Aussies alway cheating" and "Who are ya?" and the "PHOENIX" and "Oh Wellington" chants were great.
..and giving the ZM "soccer" guy the "who are ya?" was pure class!!!
I'll shut up now.

Have seen a number of people posting about the chanting seems to me
many seem to forget that like the team a lot of us are new to
this.I think the progress being made after what is our 4th home
game is okay.Yes it did slacken in the 2nd half, maybe if some more
people took up the challenge to get things going it might get
better. No way am i turning around to chant Im there to watch
the football first. We will get there but like the team it seems it
might take longer than some would like.
I'm not saying stand with your back to the game the whole time -
just involve the rear of the stand in the chants - there are plenty
of places to sit and watch the game - if you are in the FZ you are
obligated to try and make it one of the most feared home support
groups - and that means organisation
None of this is meant to be negative - just encouraging. Well - none except leaving on the final whistle - no excuses for that.

Barca - how did you find the response when you started chants?
Yea I agree with you on the leaving after the final whistle, you
should really stay and applaud your team off the pitch, doesn't
matter if they lose, they don't want to see people leaving without
applauding them for their efforts .. About the chanting last night,
I saw no problems at all, it was all good, there were a few I
didn't understand but throughout the game I picked them up and
chanted all along , YF zone was great last night and I look forward
to the next home game in two weeks which I will be attending for
sure.

I was at the front (on crutches-massive effort)...and quite often
it seemed that there were two different chants going on at the same
time-the back and front sections chanting seperately. And when we
did chant together the back was out of time with the front
.
This made our chanting less effective. Needs to be more
co-ordinated. We are new at this and im sure we'll get better.
Maybe we do need fan leaders. In the middle preferably.

People were sitting? Unforgivable. If they still refuse to stand
during "stand up if you love the Nix" (or whatever chant you use
that requires standing) you should expel them. kiwi pie2007-09-10

I noticed at the first game there seems to be all the leaders
in one area. People up back sung their own chants, which were
mainly phoenix clap clap clap and Phoeeeeenix. Obvious rugby goers
and/or no prior chanting experience. Then were was a big gap
between us and the YF leader crew, with everyone in between picking
up chants when they really got going.
Yep - that's my point really - we need chant leaders spread through
the FZ (and the bay next to it). People who know a few chants and
can take the rest of the crowd with them. A unified effort will
sound awesome - and variety in chants is always good.
Don't get me wrong - I think the effort so far is excellent - just looking to improve.
Funnily enough I thought that when the drummers started in the second half the rhythm of the crowd was better despite the drummers copping some flak around the forum.

Yes there was something missing (apart from a goal) when the drums
were silent !!
Theres a chant (kinda) well not really but when the opposition shoot and flys either side of the net or over , we just yell out ANYYYWHERRRRRRRRRRE
Biggest disappointment for me on Sunday was that there wasn't a
sound after the goal went in. That's the time when the FZ

haha yea it went silent very quick
i second that AJ we should be cheering the boys back, never admit
defeat, we should be singing the whole game, especially when we
concede
No one will listen to me i'm only 13
don't worry little fella, ther's a whole yella feva behind ya all
the way
it took about 5 minutes to come to terms with the fact we were somehow losing
Cheer up, Emo Kid!
i loved the reaction from the aust jets subs when they walked
out to to the dug out they were truely shocked and all the blood
drained from their faces when they walked out to "who are ya who
are ya " they weren't ready for that
i also agree we need to lengthen out the chants so it can filter either up or down the fz
wellington is wonderful is an awesome chant just not so good when we all finish half a bar after each other
it's still early days though boys we'll get it right soon
and i promise to stay till the boys leave the field from now on, although i was the only one booing the ref and assistants as they left, they can't enjoy the fact the have to walk right past us to get into the sheds.

it was great to see their scared little faces
seems I've got a seat allocated halfway between the front and the
back of the YF zone - so the chants started at the front weren't
heard too well at the back - and when they were the guys at the
back were about a half bar behind the chants from the front, then
the guys at the front would get the chant to the same time as the
guys at the back after the chant was picked up by the guys in the
middle of the YF.
So, looks like the chants need to start from the back and go forward down to front ...
... and there seemed to be less variety this time (we all live in a yellow stadium, yellow fever boys, etc was missing from the repertoire ....)

I'll be down for the Sydney game and, if they somehow manage
to score, rest assured I will be roaring at the top of my voice
before the ball's even been picked out of the net

Exactamundo! Why not start up the classic goal down song "The
great escape"? Piss easy and keeps the vibe positive!

Always do mate, and not just at the stadium, at the
backbencher too, i think people were just saying let's get behind
the team and all sing, well thats what i'm saying
