New Chants for 2012/2013

With the 'it's good to be back' chant, maybe it could be adapted for normal season games? Something like this maybe:

Yellow,
Yellow,
We're Yellow and Black,
We're Yellow and Black.

Also I liked the "Shaddupa you face" played while the players were warming up (somewhat disrespectful but very humorous).  I had to explain to Jnrette what the lyrics were and that it was a very old song that daddy knew and that was why no one else was singing along...

Following a Brockie goal, to the tune of 'God gave rock and roll to you'

God gave Brockie's goal to us, gave Brockie's goal to us, gave Brockie's goal to everyone...

Everyone has.

Even the people sitting next to me on Saturday night who had never been to a pHoenix game before in their lives were singing along on the second time through.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

It does go noticeable quiet after "Durante" though.

That's not because people don't know it.

It's because people are soft cocks who can't keep a chant going past 2 repetitions. You just need to hit "When I see you Phoenix..." each time like you're hitting some bastard robbing your house.

Ask Dave.

I love 'just can't get enough' and I'm always there singing the verse, but I'm also not a fan of pushing a chant over and over just for the sake of it. When it was going for ages at the end we missed a bunch of opportunities to rip into Sydney or rark up the lads with chants relating to what was going on in the game. Couldn't get a word in edgewise.

I did chant "Stu-ey Jacobs Welly Army" for 25 minutes a few years back but that was mainly because Waitakere wouldn't know atmosphere if it rogered them with a flag.

Fair Point there Elmo
I think the longest we've done  "Just cant get enough" is nearly seven minutes - if people are still singing, carry it on, I say.
Ricki Herberts Yellow Army was done for about 15mins in Aus a couple of years back. (Cold Ghost?)
Have a look at FCUM on YouTube, they do a 16 minute " I am an FC Fan" , that is passionate support!
Not everyone likes it going on & on, but those same people can always start another chant going. The more singing the better.
I only start a chant when it's quiet, more people hear the first line & pick up on it, sometimes, it catches on & then other times I look like a bigger tw@t than normal, if no-one else joins in.
I thought the chanting on Saturday was good, but we still had a lot of silences.

Was that against Brisbane? felt like that went to for about 15 minutes that day, Scottish Simon followed your advice and just kept hammering the first line. I was right in front of him, never have I seen such determination, he had 'this chant ends when I say it ends' written all over his face.

Anyone hear the Sydney fans at the pub....it is so nice here, we want to come back. Fair play for turning up.

We did give them a verse of "don't cry for me del piero, the truth we can't afford you, we checked our balance, our beer fund's too low, for del piero, for del piero...."

Agree with upping the passion stakes, those FC fans know how to sing it.

Maybe we need to get there earlier, sing while the teams are having a stretch.

Definitely appreciated too, anyone who puts it out there and starts one up has my support. Chants are the lifeblood, just wish we had a few more well known ones up our sleeve.

I also reckon the biggest missed opportunity is Stand up for the Phoenix, needs a big effort to roll into another chant while we've got them all standing up.

Theres only one bald belgian,

One bald beeeeeeelgian,

theres only one bald belgian......................."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VX804RTVk2k = To that tune

Really wish there was a printed version of the chants somewhere. Any chance of it guys?

There's a chants section on this forum. A 'chant sheet' won't happen,it's seen to be too tacky. I'd find it a bit embarrassing personally. There has been discussion about it,with some pretty strong opinions being thrown about,it was interesting!

Then fire up!!!

Sing louder.

And they will listen to you, hear the words, and learn them. If people around you don't know thew words it is because you are not singing loud enough.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Whole game?  Impressed if so.  Or was it for the woeful "stand up for the Phoenix, stand up for the um, err, *just keep clapping*"
Frankie Mac has a heap of printed copies I think.  He'd be happy to give you some.

Not a Phoenix but an All Whites chant for Tuesday night - hey, it's a chants thread, right, and many reading this will be at the game:
A French football chant the Tahitians will understand:
" Le Tahiti - Repose en Paix,
Les All Whites vont gagner.
Allez les All Whites, Allez les All Whites..."
Pronunciation: "repose en paix" = sounds like English "repose on pay"
"vont gagner" = sounds like " von garn yay)
(Tahiti - Rest in Peace [R.I.P.],
The All Whites are going to win.
Go the All Whites, Go the All Whites...")

Hi there i am new to this website but what will be the final lot of chants be for the 2012/13 season???

This probably is too simple but when the players are warming up before the game, maybe something like this could be sung

If you love Manny Muscat, clap your hands.
If you love Manny Muscat, clap your hands.
If you love Manny Muscat,
And you really want to show it,
If you love Manny Muscat, clap your hands.

You could keep repeating it with different players. It might be something that the rest of the crowd might get involved with or at least clapping with.

Most of us turn up from The Pub after the players have left the field. It's a great idea, but might work better during (dare I say it?) boring patches during the game.

I'm happy to be the ideas man, you can work out the details. It would probably need a something like capo, yelling out what players to use I guess.

Any ways it was just something that popped into my head.
