10 people with air horns blasting at the same time the opposition keeper takes a goal kick. or wen someone takes a penalty/free-kick. the best way to get into the heads of the other team is to bust balls

Those horns are worse than the drums. Melbourne supporters are the best now, because the YF hasnt been to a game  yet! :D

Brilliat chant....sure as hell inpired me. We need something similar.

This is what Ive come up with but I got a bit stuck on the last line of the 2nd verse.
One more verse would be great.

Verse 1

(Choir leader)     WE'RE NUMBER ONE
(Everyone)         WE'RE NUMBER ONE

(Choir leader)     WE WILL SUCCEED
(Everyone)         WE WILL SUCCEED

(Everyone -        COS WE'RE THE MIGHTY, MIGHTY
Whilst clapping)  PHOENIX YOU WILL SEE....

Verse 2

(Choir leader)     WE'LL RISE ABOVE
(Everyone)         WE'LL RISE ABOVE

(Choir leader)     THE FIRES OF HELL
(Everyone)         THE FIRES OF HELL

(Everyone -        AND FROM THE ASHES
Whilst clapping)  WILL THE PHOENIX FLY ... (??)

Actually in hindisght Verse 2 would be better as Verse 1. Just need to fix that last line.

ok firstly the most passionate fans on earth are panathinaikos fans in greece they will out chant any one, wait till next season in the uefa cup as we'll be playing in leoforos our true home not the crackwhore house oaka,

If you are going to steal col chants steal the good ones not the bullsh*t bafalo ohh tiger ah ones that were invented in my year, the ones about our opponents being paedofiles and "hey baberella" are the best(descent)ones from col,

i think we should get a set list of 7-10 chants and use them as a starter, so every one keen can learn them quickly, and then build on from there.

also i think we should have a few aggressive chants but please leave out the racist bullsh*t...if any one starts that sh*t up fights will break out between us....or worse people will leave yf(or whatever the f**k we are called)

the idea of yellow by coldplay was a good one i think.

Ok, inspired by the Greek basketball chant I saw earlier in this thread, heres a chant I have written for the Phoenix.

Heres the Greek chant I'm referring to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0rMe2Vyb9E

Chorus

(Chant leader)         WE'RE NUMBER ONE
(Everyone)              WE'RE NUMBER ONE

(Chant leader)         WE WILLSUCCEED
(Everyone)              WE WILL SUCCEED

(Everyone -            COS WE'RE THE MIGHTY MIGHTY
Whilst clapping)      PHOENIX FC

Verse 1

(Chant leader)       WE'LL RISE ABOVE
(Everyone)            WE'LL RISE ABOVE

(Chant leader)        THE FIRES OF HELL
(Everyone)             THE FIRES OF HELL

(Everyone -           AND FROM THE ASHES WILL
Whilst clapping)    THE PHOENIX BE RELEASED

......Repeat chorus............

Verse 2

(Chant leader)      WE FLY AS ONE
(Everyone)           WE FLY AS ONE

(Chant leader)      IN UNITY
(Everyone)           IN UNITY

(Everyone -         IN THE RING OF FIRE
Whilst clapping)   YOU WILL BURN ETERNALLY

........repeat chorus & start again...........

Let me know what you think.

I think that's a good idea. It's a newish tune for football crowds (esp. in this part of the world), which means that for the frist wee while we'll hopefully be the only A-League fans singing it.

More goof video of fans singing (Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany)

When the camera pans to the left, keep your eye open on the front row, drummer and chior master facing the crowd. This is what I'm talking about in my other threads about drums and a chior master, for those that aren't sure what I've been getting at, or are who opposed to drums becasue they "drown out the crowd". I think you'll find it works freaking well.

A good chant needs a drum. We have to have one.

A good chant wont be heard with a drum.

Hey Ive got an idea, why we're at it, lets give everyone free Knights hooters, woooo, so the aussies can take the piss out of us even more!

Permalink Permalink

F**k those hooters were annoying.

Good point Nembo. Maybe we wait to see how many people are chanting before we get a drum. Might be a bit dumb if theres only 100 singing.

Chants can get hideously out of sync without a drum, it's amazing how much better a drum makes it. Also gains more attention as well. Do Westpac allow drums? The Telstra Dome won't allow one for the Blue & White Brigade. Then again, they don't even allow an opinion into the stadium.

Phoenix fc chants...?These things are (sort of) spontaneous and not engineered on websites by football wannabees..  dairyflat2007-05-12 19:13:46
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

i hope the drum doesnt divide the fans, i rekon drums are good and agree that they would help to keep us in time when we are chanting, perhaps we could compramise and have drums for the first 2-3 games and then get rid of them. Ive said it before and i'll say it again...the stadium staff will do their best to piss us off and ruin our fun, the advantage with the basin is you could sneek a tank in there and no one would catch you.

Ignoring my eariler and slightly cynical reply (apologiers all round)... can I share some thoughts? At games I've been to in Italy there's a moment  when the crowd all get to their feet and pogo like mad for about thirty seconds all chanting along the lines of "let's go really mental".   RECOMMENDED!!

That's an old classic. I was introduced to that one by Bloc 5. I'm sure we'll be pulling it out again.
