Abide with me; fast falls our finals hopes;

the darkness deepens; can the Fever cope?

When casual fans all fall away and flee,

Wellington Phoenix, O abide with me.

Swift to its close another loss today;

earth's joys grow dim; Victory pulls away;

angst and despair in the forum I see;

Wellington Phoenix, O abide with me.

I need thy presence every passing hour.

What but thy grace can foil Adelaide's power?

Who, like thyself, my guide and stay can be?

Wellington Phoenix, O abide with me.

I fear no foe, with Ernie’s midfield press;

Jests are lightweight, and Heart has no success.

Where is the Bling? Where, grave, Perth Glory?

We triumph still, Phoenix abide with me.

Put up thy cross before they close thee down;

ghost through the gap, like goals scored by Tim Brown.

McGlinchey breaks, and scores to make it three;

Wellington Phoenix, O abide with me.

Have been watching the darts on tv. Thought the main tune they play where everyone gets involved would work well at the stadium, easy tune. Help from the PA would be helpful to get it started say pre match?

See here for an example of how it pans out at the darts:

Note, dalmation fancy dress is optional:

Also, sadly, the MC madness from Sid is also no longer available.

RIP Sid Waddell, the voice of darts, legend in his own time.

From Le Singe at the Bethel woods. In Wellington It never rains In Wellington it never rains In wellington it's always sunny In Wellington it never rains. You can not beat wellington on a fine day.

Initial idea for a chant, needs work but might inspire someone

To: Whenever I fall by Crouded House

Whenever the ball, is at your feet
Won't you let your goals rain down on me?
Whenever I see, your quick turn of pace

Nice start... i think it passes the hum test, just need to get the loop part sorted.

Could adapt the "The finger of blame..." part.

To the tune of 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer' by the Beatles : "PC Thirty-one said 'I caught a dirty one! Oh Oh Oh...' Rose and Valerie screaming from the gallery said "He must go free..." etc. etc.

"At the end of the drive the lawmen arrive...

I'll take my chance because luck is on my side or something...

Her name is Rio, she don't need to understand...

Oh Rio, Rio, hear them shout across the land..."

Our number 9,

Our one and only Nathan Burns,

Always full of twists and turns,

Oh Nathan Burns, our number 9

I think this works pretty well, not overly satisfied with my wording but I like the number 9 bits.

Suggestions please!

How about this one for Wee Mac?

Lyrics go with out saying I think.... basic but possibly a very loud chant.

Kick it, smack it

Fire it up, come along

And watch some hits from Sarpong

*not a serious suggestion before anyone says we can't do hip hop tracks about drug use...

Gotta love a bit of Paul Kelly. This works best when we are winning after 80 minutes:

.

In the middle

In the middle

In the middle of a dream

I've lost my shirt

I've pawned my rings

For the Phoenix I sing

Alternatively, when the Nix are winning, the chorus of The Divinyls "I touch myself" over and over again...

Brilliant. Just brilliant.
I can only imagine the Fox Sports microphones to pick up what we're singing!

What about singing "Sarpong" to Aerosmith's "Dream On"? You could just do the bridge and chorus bits:

Sing with me, sing for the year

Sing for the laughter, sing for the tear

Sing with me just for today

Maybe tomorrow, the good lord will take you away

Yeah, sing with me, sing for the year

Sing for the laughter, sing for the tear

Sing with me, just for today

Maybe tomorrow, the good Lord will take you away

Dream On Dream On Dream On Sarpong Sarpong Sarpong

Dream until your dream comes true

Dream On Dream On Dream On Sarpong Sarpong Sarpong

Dream until your dream comes through

Dream On Dream On Dream On Sarpong Sarpong Sarpong

Dream On Dream On Sarpong Sarpong

Dream On Dream On Sarpong Sarpong, AHHHHHHH

There, someone make a clever chant out of that...
