Chant idea (to tune of "Wouldn't It Be Nice" by the Beach Boys):

Wouldn't it be nice to see the Phoenix

Thanks for coming down, you’re welcome here

And wouldn't it be nice to see a win too

But win lose or draw let’s have some beer!

Not 100% sure about the words, but I do think the song is a good choice to try put something too.

Think the first two lines work, but not sure about if the win too works when trying to do it along with the music.

I agree with that entirely Yakcall!  Perhaps the first 2 lines could just be repeated?  Would certainly be easier to remember!

Perhaps...

Wouldn't it be nice to see the Phoenix

Thanks for coming down, you’re welcome here

And wouldn't it be nice to see a win too

But whatever the result, we'll cheer!

So that could be:

O Wouldn't it be nice to see the Phoenix

although that last line doesn't look like it would fit, when singing it it somehow works ...

I like your first idea as the song doesn't repeat lines, so I like the idea of different words, just that one line kind of didn't fit. Think you and bwtcf are on the right track though

I was thinking that too, it looked like it was a word short and needed something like "we'll always cheer!"

Not wanting to pour cold water, but I wonder if we're not better off adapting a classic so that we get more pickup.

Er, the Beach Boys "Wouldn't It Be Nice" is quite classic.

Lead track on what most critics call the best album ever: Pet Sounds

Also used by Cadbury for a chocolate commercial ..

Anyway, change the last line to fit the tune better:

Wouldn't it be nice to see the Phoenix

Thanks for coming down, you’re welcome here

And wouldn't it be nice to see a win too

But whatever the result, we're gonna cheer!

I think this is definitely moving in the right direction, but surely is too many syllables in the last line - the original opening verse of the original song has this here:

"In the kind of world where we belong"   (the word "world" is where the emphasis falls, so it would be good to have a strong emphasis word there)

we're gonna cheer! fits well for the "where we belong" bit (and rhymes of course), so we need a five syllable phrase for the first bit of the line, ideally with emphasis naturally falling on the last word.  The best I can come up with so far is:  "But still at the end" - not great but does fit properly I think?  So my latest suggestion would be:

Wouldn't it be nice to see the Phoenix

Thanks for coming down, you’re welcome here

And wouldn't it be nice to see a win too

But still at the end we're gonna cheer!

However in the end, we're gonna cheer.
