Right, here goes.
Beckham was all class, worked like a sandboy, no way he can be left out. Nicky Shorey had a great debut, hopefully Shorey will keep his place ahead of Cashley Cole. Owen was anonymous, Joe Cole toiled and tried things but it wasn't his day and Robinson looked in good form. I totally do not agree with the commentators (but who ever does agree with  Tommy Wankstain-Smyth?) that King was at fault for not picking up Diego for the equaliser, King had two to mark, where were the others?
I couldn't believe McClown started with Smith, he's never going to be England class. Should have been Owen and Crouch. You've got Beckham back in the side and no target to hit. Hello???
I also couldn't believe he took off Terry. And brought on Wes Effing Brown. It seems that if you are English and play for MUFC or CFC you are almost guaranteed a spot in McClaren's side. What the hell has Brown ever contributed at international level? I know he went in at right-back with Carragher moving to the middle but the guy isn't good enough to even put on the shirt.
Jenas on for Beckham. Why? Bentley's sitting there on the bench. Straight swap, no brainer, give the kid a run. Jenas showed his "class" with a crossfield pass on the break intended for Downing that was, frankly, Sunday League level. He's woeful. Dump him for good.
And as for Lumpard, don't get me started...
England got an unlucky draw against Brazil through the endeavours of a handful of players. McClaren did his best to stuff it up by making clueless substitutions. He really has to go.

I didnt watch the game but I'd assume that Terry would only go off if he got injured...unless McClown likes to play 'share the captaincy, give everyone a turn like playing U/10s'.

i couldnt agree more, Wes Brown is quite possibly the biggest joke in the English squad...there was a time this season when he wasnt even holding down a starting spot at Man U wasnt there?

Brazil were lucky but they have some promising new plays, the goalscorer Diego or "anao" dwarf they are calling him in Brazil and Afonso from the dutch league are very promising. I think the english played pretty well, but I always admire the experimental nature of brazilian play, tehy are always willing to try something and even if it doesnt work its not such a big deal they will try it again...

Ronaldinho was impressive with the ball at the feet at times but failed to really hammer that advantage home, sometimes passing just once too often.

Botafogo - Rio de Janeiro and Wellington Phoenix, my two teams til death do us part.

pretty much agree with the jam.becks was brilliant.cant understand why smith started and wes brown?!wtf can you say about that?downing i think needs to be given some game time against estonia as he usually has good croosses and his shots pack a bit of punch.and although it was only 1 goal for england it was a much more enthusiastic performance than in germany

Apart from the goal Diego didn't feature much but I agree about Alfonso Alves. He didn't have the run of the ball when he came on but he looks to have that special something, as the reports coming out of Heerenveen confirm.
To me the biggest disappointment in the Brazilian side is/was Robinho. Always been "the future of Brazil" and always flatters to deceive. As for Ronaldinho, he looked like he was playing in a game in which the result didn't matter. But I'll always love him just for the fact that he plays with a smile on his face.

Contrary to many, I've always liked Downing. Maybe not as a starter, but he can come on and add something. He's a throwback to the old fashioned winger days of Stan Matthews, George Eastham, Eddie Gray, Charlie Cooke etc etc - hugging the touchline, looking to beat a man and cross.
As you've said, he always seems to get good, clean connection when he hits the ball, whether crossing or shooting. He's a tidy player and well worth a place in the squad.
BTW, just heard news that Everton have put in an offer for Alan Smith. Not sure why, but there you go.

Why has no one mentioned Stevie G, MOTM. Don't really know if he was but he played good, not great.

Agree that many people like Ronaldinho because he always smiles as well as being entertaining. But he hasn't been amazing of late and also kicking a guy in between his legs is pretty low (excuse pun).

Shame that Owen Hargreaves is injured. With him fit you could play him in the holding role, drop Lampard completely, and push Stevie G forward.

I don't think SG contributed as much against Brasil as he normally does cos he was told to stay back more and shut down the Brasil central MF.
