This shows Alan is loyal to club. The club he supported as a boy and grew up watching. That cannot be said about hardly any players thesedays. Shearer will take us back to the prem as long as mike ashley is gone. Well done ashley tight over 10mill with keegan...its cost you 30 to 60 million pounds now!

To a degree though, I blame the players whom seemed quite happy to accept over-inflated pay packets and gave f**k all in return.

Geordie fans have been played for mugs for too many years now. They need some players to stand up and be counted and give them some success.

Mate i totally agree, ive always said that its been a comination of ashley, the players being overpaid and not caring about the result and the infastructure the club has. Some newcastle players are on top 4 wages, it really is a joke.

And with the over inflated pay packets came over inflated egos with certain individuals yet again believing they were better than they really were. Newcastles best times finished with Man City winning that League Cup final. Since then, they have tried various stars and super stars whom have just not put in the effort for the most part. Sheerer and Keegan (as a player) being two obvious exceptions.

I still don't know how Newastle fans can lay the blame at MA's door!

End of the day MA has kept you afloat financially. He is not a idiot he aint going to bank role you to the hilt just cos Newcastle fans have this thing that they think they are a big club. Yes they have a big stadium but they are for sure not a big club.

If anything Wise and the several managers are to blame for thier stupidity in thinking if you throw money at it it will get better.

You only have to look at Wigan, Fulham, Stoke etc to see you don't need money to have sucess.

She Fulham fans be calling for Mohammed Al Fayed's head as he don't spend much cash? or should we just support the team in a slow but steady improvement and now European football, top half finishes.

Newcastle fans are soooo impatiant they think they are owed sucess and are quick to lay the blame at the door of anyone except who they deem to be ''gods'' at Newcastle! E.g Keegan and Shearer - both of whom had appaling records at the club! in manigerial terms.

So it is now the fizzy pop lleague for Newcastle, personally can't see them getting out of it in the first season. Having seen Fulham play through all 4 pro divisions in the last 15 years I must say the Championship is the hardest of them all, promotion and play offs normally go to the wire with several clubs in with a shout. Expect to see Reading, Cardiff, Preston, West Brom, Boro, Sheff Utd, Swansea, Peterborough (Who are going for a 3rd straight promotion) Doncaster etc be up there fighting for a place in the premiership.

I think a few years down in the Championship would do Newcastle and thier fans a load of good. Time to clear out all the crap, and start again.

Yes defiently agree time to clean out the crap but believe we have a good chance to get promoted next season.

And i dont think you can criticise shearers managerial record. Hes only managed 8 games. Hes had to manage a team at the bottom of the table with a low morale. Give him a year and see how he goes with his signings and his players. Id love to see him stay in charge again next season. Another managerial change is exactly what we dont need.

And with regards to mike ashley not throwing money at players. He hasnt spent any money at all, he MADE money from transfers last summer with the sale of milner. Thats one of the many reasons why keegan left as he thought he would be allowed to use the money from the sale to purchase other players.

Yes but when you add them up the money came in was more than the money going out. Milners transfer was 12 mill. Given was 6mill. Nzogbia was 5 mill and ryan taylor. Collocini was believed to be just under 10mill

Yes but Newcastle are a business! a feeder team if you like. Same as Fulham. You can expect to sell players for high amounts and buy in for less. It is about what you do with the players rather than the cost of them.

No business that wants to survive can continually have bigger outgoings then incomings. As i said before MA has kept you financially secure.

Is he a 100% owning Newcastle? Reason i ask is I would assume any money he has invested was a personal loan etc to NUFC, in which case since the value of NUFC just plumitted with relegation, attemps to kick him out would land NUFC in serious debt to MA!!!!!!

Just watching News here in the UK and looks like Shearer will be taking the job!

Anyone else thinking this is the most stupid thing NUFC could have done! They have just appointed/ing a man who has NO managerial experiance! not even in the lower leagues!!!!!!!

Surely Shearer should go manage down in League 1 or 2 before even thinking about taking a job like this!

When will Newcastle learn?????

Im thinking it is a great change. We all know newcastle need a manager who knows the club inside out and that the players respect. The fans will give shearer time which they havent with previous managers. Under shearer we started playing half decent football. Before him we would hardley create one chance per game. And we have tried the experienced managers eg souness, allardyce. To be honest sir bobby robson should never have been sacked. Thats were the catastrophe started.

I remember when Sir Bobby got you guys up into third - and were challenging for the title up until March! That must have been 2003... then we beat you 6-2 at St James's to end the challenge but it was the glory years in comparison today...

Let's see if I can remember the squad - guys like Given, Griffin, Dabizas, Woodgate, Barnard, Solano, Jenas, Dyer, Shearer, Bellamy, and others. Pretty squad in any case.

Yes getting rid of Robson was a big blunder...that team was good to watch too and played with passion  (Shearer and Bellamy up front _ scary!).  Toon could have cemented a position similar to Everton and Villa now but heh!!

Shearer will be keeping his assistants team I suppose?  Dowie??

Championship will be tough....dont forget Ipswich with Roy Keane as well.

My tips for next season in Championship:

Promotion:    WBA and Newcastle
Playoffs        Cardiff, Ipswich, QPR and Reading

Relegation    Barnsley, Sc**thorpe and Blackpool
