Meh. Van Persie is quoted as saying 'mindless' and 'malicious'. Make up your mind fella, they can't be both!

Oh. And of course he's sorry.

probably a bit disrespectful to the club and manager that are the sole reason he is the player he is today.   Without wenger he would still be slumming it in ligue 1..

its not the fans fault he was crap last season and they let him know about it.

imagine if smeltz did that if he scored against us at the RoF..

i would go with the malicious option based on the replays.

it was a defenite stamp and adebayor claims he thought the ball was still there...if the ball was still at your feet, why the hell would you be stamping on it anyway?

Smeltz's departure had less fire in it. If I remember rightly, you guys all wanted Adebayor to be fired into space.

yep a bit different than the smeltz departure.

Maybe more like fatty elrich scoring the winner at the stadium and celebrating in front of the fever? But of course he'd have to bitch about the yellow fever in the press for a cupla days leading up to it, claiming he put in a sh*tload of effort while he was here and really wanted to stay at the nix, and that we treated him unfairly... and of course he would've had to have tried to shift to a few other clubs prior to his departure too - and as well as that, when he was agreeing personal terms with his new club he'd also have to ring up manU and chelsea and ask if he could go there instead, and then just accept the club he's been sold to as no one else wants him - then it might be similar.

I should be able to fashion up a medal and get it in the post before he plays again.

The chief executive of the FA (Ian Watmore) said that he was 'particularly unimpressed' with Adebayor in terms of both incidents and said that the FA will be looking 'very closely' at both the stamping and the celebration.

good job.

Other than the stomp on the head, RVP must have a sore hand too because I'm sure he copped more of the boot on the hand than the head. Looked painful and was un-necessary, despite HH's obvious delight and wind-up as any true Sperms fan would.

Defend that you asshole!

It was an Arsenal player, m'lud.

On a point of technicality, presumably he'll only get done for the stamp as he was served a yellow for the celebration. Or am I getting mixed up with rugby?

he don't play for England
so a ban is likely

shades of the ARl a fortnight out from playing the Kiwi's

Terry, Gerrard and Rooney get away with shocking cheating IMO. MCFC and Arsenal players might too if they had some valuable English players.

The yellow was for excessive goal celebration, the FA are charging him with misconduct etc

ex referee Graham Poll - Daily Mail

Like most observers watching frame after frame of the terrible incident, I think Emmanuel Adebayor deliberately kicked Robin van Persie. However, the FA will need more than mere thoughts to charge the Manchester City forward.

At full speed nobody could be expected to detect the challenge and so, rightly, no blame has been apportioned to the referee, Mark Clattenburg.

The guideline to referees in such circumstances is to consider if the player who catches his opponent would have avoided contact if it had been a team-mate on the ground. With that in mind you can see why I think Adebayor is guilty. So what happens now?

Foot fault: Emmanuel Adebayor catches his former team-mate Robin van Persie in the face leaving the Dutchman in agony

Clattenburg will have filed his match report to the FA, including all misconduct he has witnessed. He can add an extraordinary incident report highlighting any matter which has been brought to his attention after the game, but it is unlikely that he will mention Adebayor's kick.

The FA disciplinary department, having already stated they will be having a close look at this incident, will send Clattenburg a clip of the clash asking whether he saw it and, if not, what he would have done if he had seen it. If Clattenburg confirms he could not see the clash clearly, then the FA can charge Adebayor.

Yellow peril: Ref Mark Clattenburg puts Emmanuel Adebayor in the book after his goal celebration at Eastlands

There is now a procedure in place for a red card, or incident which should have resulted in a red card, to result in a ban of longer than three matches. Given the potential for serious injury, this challenge could well mean a prolonged ban for Adebayor.

As for the striker's stupid celebration, the FA can suspend him for as many games as they wish for improper conduct.

there is nothing in it and RVP should man up

in fact it was his fault for lying down where he did

Ade is being picked on  just like Alan Shearer was 3 weeks out from the World Cup.

1) The tackle was ridiculous.
2) Kick in the head is what happens when you dive into peoples feet.
3) Stomp should be punished though.

well the fa will have too seriously review it before they make there decision is probally going to be a 3 game ban but i dont know why people are crying about the celebration most people would do that if they left a club and the fans had been giving him sh*t all game like adebayor your a w**ker
and what a waste of money and that sort of thing

What was interesting was the city fans booing and the camera showed a close-up of RVP's face, nice sprig indentation. Usually in such circumstances players try and jump over the fella on the ground not do what we saw happen. Even if  he'd fallen over RVP, it would have been better than the stomp.

Van Persie is a dirty little Bast**d in my book and what goes around comes around

He tried to take out Adebayer and got stomped on...good job, he needs to harden up and all the bleating is pathetic

As for the celebration, pure quality, especially the reaction of the gooners, well worth a 1 match ban when you can wind up your ex-club that well

Good article?

He whinges on about the 'pussyfication' (not a real word btw, negative mark 1) of football then raves on about how bad RVPs tackle was so therefore deserves a stamp (negative mark 2).

Three for me, and two for them.

So P Scholes (if he can stay on the pitch for the whole match) should be kicked in the head in every game...?

Rooney's stamp at the World Cup was just as bad, and all the hate was turned towards Ronaldo- even though it was a horrible stamp.

If you ignore the celebration, the accusations around slapping Song and stamping on Cesc, then I think the whole in RVP's face is enough for people ro realise why a) no one likes him (including his mum), and b) why it needs to be dealt with. If he can get away with this what are the likes of players from Stoke going to start trying? Whether you like him or not he deliberately stomped on a former team mates head!

It'd be like Smeltz stamping on...ah...well say Daniel's head, because he was our only striker for awhile there

Scholes first card v Tottenham was a shocker
really bad "challenge"
even against a Tottenham player, it was awful

Ade can do as he feels and may or may not be banned accordingly. As he is not a valuable player for England I suggest the likelihood for sanction is higher. This apparently, should not concern us, consistency is nothing it's actually all about if it's our team or not.

What do referee guidelines say about former team mates? Nothing I bet...it's murky 50-50 stuff. So I'm prepared to give the City boy the b.o.d.    HarryHotspur2009-09-15 12:36:35

Its a spud your talking to Buffy. You need to teach him to read long sentences and walk upright without dragging his knuckles before a concept as complicated as stamping on a players head can be understood.

Or maybe he has had his head stomped on one time too many?

If Scholes got kicked in the head after making a tckle like that, it would be his fault.

This isn't a topic about Scholes however.
