I thought it might be wise to create a new thred for this topic so we dont fill up each others respective team threads.

BTW Arsenal are going to win all three games easily.

Awesome. We knock out the Champions and now we get to knock out the other finalist.

Bring it on!

I reckon we'll win the series 2-0. Win both home games and draw at Anfield. That'll suit me down to the ground.

Three for me, and two for them.

Will no one else admit that Liverpool are in a rich vein of form at the moment, especially Torres. It won't be that easy.

With the exception of the games vs inter , Liverpool's "rich vein of form" has been taken from Bolton, West Ham and Newcastle. Three teams that give away goals with the match day program lately

Never said it will be easy, but i do believe we can beat them in both games at home. Away will be tough which is why i have gone for a draw.

All 3 games will be tough but i'll stick by my prediction that we'll beat them both times at the Emirates and eek out a draw at Anfield.

Three for me, and two for them.

And we couldn't beat Birmingham, Villa or Wigan. Games that potential champions should win. I think the games will be very close and hopefully we'll lift ourselves for it like we did against Milan.

the two games for Liverpool prior to our three matches are Man united and everton - id be suprised if they had a fit and functioning squad by the time those games roll around.

They can probably afford to rest players for those games though as they're out of the Premiership race. Might be a bit different for us as we really need to keep winning in the league. Hopefully RVP stays fit.

The game s against Everton will decide if they are playing Uefa cup or champions league next year. don't think they are likely to rest players for those when fourth place is so tenuous for them.

Can't say i'm overly thrilled with the draw.

If we get passed Liverpool we'll meet Chelsea in the semi's. I wanted to avoid english teams!

In saying that we can beat anyone on our day so am looking forward to it!

Suppose someone else should contribute, making this not just Arsenal thread number 3.

Think the draw could've gone a little better, I'd rather have any other foreign team than another Premier League team.

Having said that Arsenal haven't been at their best of late and avoiding Man U was my main concern, don't want game to be more than just a big game.

So I guess it's Arrivederci Internazionale and Adieu Arsenal

Depends if they put all their eggs in one basket or not though UberGunner. They did in 05 and it paid off for them.

Three for me, and two for them.

I was hoping for an Arsenal v Barcelona tie. This will be awful to watch, Liverpool I sense will be negative and try and get through 1-0 on aggregate or so.

Slightly off topic, Id love to see Fener do the mincers. Fener are a good attacking side and if they get a result in Istanbul anythings possible...

Liverpool's form is improving (as it needed to) and Arsenal have faltered of late

Liverpool's run in is more demanding (emotionally as much as any other way) with those two games i doubt many fans will support Rafa in protecting players for the  UCL - which is a shame in my view - but I can see why

As a 5 game run it's possibly the most intense in Europe this season

I reckon this 5 game run for Liverpool could fill a whole book about the pyschology of top level sport and football rivalries

I hope they don't cancel each other out. The possibility of dour games is strong but then the idea of 3 exciting attacking games is also a chance, considering the two excellent squads. I'd have liked this to have been the final.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

To put my comments in context, I'm a completely one eyed Liverpool supporter.

Personally I think this will be all about momentum, as has been mentioned before Arsenal have struggled as of late (Apart from a superb away performance at Ac Milan) and Liverpool seem to be on a bit of a roll. If Liverpool can get good results against Reading, Everton and Manure before the Arsenal games they will go into it thinking they can beat anyone and in my opinion will win the tie, if not... well they will struggle.

I would have preferred any European opposition (including Barca) than another premier league team, simply because the Reds seem to perform better against European teams.

A mouth watering semi final series of Liverpool vs Chelsea and Manure vs Barca awaits!

How is the prospect of Liverpool vs Chelsea mouthwatering? it would probably by two full games of 0 - 0 then extra time and then settled on penalties. It would be mindless, 10 men behind the ball stuff with Dirk Kuyt huffing and puffing ineffectively back and forth and Gerrard and Lampard blasting the ball into the stands over and over and over again. Didn't you watch the last two times these these sides were drawn against each other in the CL? They were awful, truly awful. I hope for the sake of the game that Arsenal get past LFC and Chelsea (or hopefully Fenerbahce!) so that we can have a proper final against either Man U or (preferably) Barca. KTBW2008-03-17 08:57:40

Hi Guys,

I think thease games will be like the FA Cup Semi Final in 1980 where Pool and Us played 3 games, as the sides couldnt be seperated. On paper, we should win, as we have a much better record against Liverpool than other sides, and they dont seem to like our style of play.

But this isnt a league game!, and Pool, are well versed in Chapions League knockout football. I wouldnt like to call it. But if my lfe depened on making a score prediction I would say Arsenal on PENALTIES!!! after a 2-1 win for each team. With an unlikely hero in Mattieau scoring the final pen.

What would the TAB offer me on that score?

As you correctly stated deang, Champions League Football is nothing like the Premier League, Arsenal have never witnessed anything like what they'll see at Anfield for the Liverpool home game. The Kop will roar their hearts out and the Mighty Reds  will blow you off the park!

You'll never walk alone!

You guys don't want to get to the final. Surely you don't want to repeat the heartbreak of scoring first and then lose 2-1. Isn't that what the arse do in major cup finals?

I have noticed that there seems to be a bit more respect toward Liverpool from Arsenal fans than toward Chelski and Manure. My brother is a Liverpool supporter so i watched a lot of their games in the 80's when i was a kid. I later developed my affection/addiction for the Arsenal but Ian Rush left an indelible markUberGunner2008-03-17 18:11:53

Surely you don't want to challenge for the league and be out of the race in October. Isn't that what Liverpool have done for the past 18 years?

Three for me, and two for them.

Which team is " huffing and puffing "  at the moment. The Arse. The Arsenal finishing in the last few weeks ,is not what Champions are made of.

my thoughts exactly. both of them have got the job done recently but are both dreadfully boring to watch. (unless playing arsenal or man u).
torres has been fantastic past few weeks but hasnt come up against anything special in defence, thinking vidic and rio will close him down nicely, maybe...?
