I reckon it would be Chelseas with Bosingwa, Carvalho, Terry and A Cole.

No way. I'd far rather have Brown, Vidic, Ferdinand and Evra.
Oh and I say that very grudgingly as an Arsenal fan. Vidic and Ferdinand is the perfect center back combination in so many respects though, they perfectly combine raw strength, aerial ability, power and set piece threat (Vidic) with pace, composure, technique and an excellent ability to read the game (Ferdinand).

this would be unbeatble imho, if i was to change anything from a world view, put sergio ramos in at rb, but hes in spain.

Vidic and Ferdinand are marginally better than Terry and Carvalho in my opinon, though they are the four best centre backs around. As for the wingbacks, Evra is top draw (his run to set up our goal against Chelsea this morning) and yeah, I guess that means I have to go for Wes at RB. Eek.
Sagna and Clichy are class. I don't understand why they aren't the first choice French wingbacks. Not sure about this Bosingwa chap, he's a funny looking bloke, though very fast. That's about as good as my analysis gets.

Evra is best left back in the world as far as I'm concerned. Every game I see of him he impresses me. Completely immense down the left flank. Vidic and Ferdinand well they're superb. Right back..Neville's a bit past it and while Brown's form is certainly impressive, I'd probably have Sagna at RB. Bit concerned bout his hair style though, bloody hell!

As 4 individuals (as opposed to how they might work together) I would have:
Sagna
Lips Ferdinand
Carvalho
Clichy
Carvalho is the complete centre half. Better than penalty taking expert Terry. Bosingwa got smoked by Evra for the opening ManUre goal on Sunday. Should have cleared that ball.
Evra just shaded by Clichy at the moment. Still not sure how Abidal can be considered for France on the left. I note he filled in at centre half for France's last qualifier.
How old is Leggy? Is he 12 or 72?

I'd probably find some room for Richard Dunne.
Nix, Leyton Orient and Alloa Athletic supporting schmuck.

I'd have;
Sagna-Vidic-Carvalho-Clichy
But if i had to pick one team's back four it'd be chelsea. ManU maybe, but they're missing a decent right back. Crap on about Wes all you want people but i don't buy it. And the neviller is too old.
Arsenal definitely have the two best fullbacks in my opinion, but too much frailty in the centre sometimes, especially against the high ball.

I'd say McCracken, Williamson, Johnson and Woodman.

Bosingwa is a player to watch out for. His crosses are improving and his assist mid-week was awesome.

Bosingwa's crosses can be the best if the world but if he can't defend to save his life then what the hell is he doing playing wing-back, focus on the word BACK. Sounds like he got found out by Evra and no doubt will get found out further this season.

Put it this way, Bosingwa wouldn't get a minute at United or Arsenal.
Three for me, and two for them.

It was Charlton's back four, but still....

Three for me, and two for them.

If I get to chose any 4 players it'd be:
Sagna - Vidic - Ferdinand - Clichy
I go with Clichy because I think he is just about Evra's equal going forward but is also more sound defensively.

He would at United easily.

hmm, too much one-eyed opinion on this topic for me.
After all goals conceded so far:
Arsenal 2 from 5 games
Liverpool 2 from 5
Chelsea 3 from 5
Man U 4 from 4

Man United do have a pretty solid defence but one could argue that they have conceded 4 as they have played Chelsea and Liverpool away so far while Arsenals have avoided the top sides and there hardest match (on paper) would...well should have been Blackburn away.
Im sure Man Utd will have conceded a few more after this weekend as well

I think most people's selections have been fairly spot on. Which posts are you referring to exactly?

I think he's referring to the Liverpool line and nobody has mentioned Liverpool's defenders. Being a Liverpool supporter and all that.

Do liverpool have defenders? i thought they had an entire team of left backs?

i dont even know who liverpool's back four is these days. it changes three times a week.
carragher is alright but he's no vidic, carvalho or ferdinand. liverpool fans will say he is a legend and i respect him for being loyal to one club but still would prefer the three formentioned.
i agree with the EPL team of the season 07/08, thought it was spot on based on last season and the early part of this season:
sagna--ferdinand--carvalho(just ahead of vidic)---clichy

You could take that inference.
What I actually meant was that the bulk of opinion suggested that the two best defenses are Chelsea and Man U and the stats don't support that assertion.
Of course it's early days so you can't read too much into the figures just yet.

yeah but based on stats tour and gallas are the best having not conseded a goal from open play all season. but no one at all has so much as mentioned them.

Yes it is early days, that would be why no-one else suggested that the best defence in england was based on this season's 5 matches...

Could have something to do withthe fact that playing in and for Portugal makes it very hard to break through as a winger, meaning coaches are dealing with the overload of talented widemen by throuwing them up front or on the sides of the defence. You know we belong together...
