Champions League

Milan
Benfica
Shakhtar

tough group for Celtic, tough to get anything off Milan. Benfica are always difficult. and Traveling to Ukraine is never easy, but if Nakamura and Boruc have blinders like last season who knows. But a UEFA cup spot seems most probable.

how do Celtic line up this season? I'm guessing Boruc, Balde, Nakamura, Donati McGeady and Hesselink all start.

Celtic: Boruc, Wilson, Naylor, McManus, Caldwell, Sno (Donati 46), Hartley, Riordan, Scott Brown, McDonald (Zurawski 70), Vennegoor of Hesselink (Killen 64).
Subs Not Used: Mark Brown, Nakamura, McGeady, O'Dea. '

That was the team who beat St mirren 5-1. Obviously resting a few from midweek

I think we can get 2nd. We are capable of beating benifica, and shakhtar and maybe squeezing a point from ac

Ahh a Celtic thread. Beautiful. Mon the bhoys.

Celtic are going to win the SPL this year granted that injuries and if we get through the CL doesnt take too much out of the bhoys. Celtic might get through the group stage of the CL if all the players lift and play like men possesed. AC and Benfica are very tough opponents and any trip to eastern europe is going to be tough. I think if we make it though the group stage we will have a good chance to go all the way, or maybe im being biased.

Dundee 1-2 Celtic
<!-- S BO --><!-- S IBYL -->
By Clive Lindsay

<!-- E IBYL -->

<!-- S IIMA -->

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink and Scott McDonald scored for Celtic
<!-- E IIMA --><!-- S SF -->Celtic survived a difficult test at Dundee's Dens Park to progress to the quarter-finals of the CIS Cup.

Efforts from Dundee's Gavin Swankie and Jan Zemlik struck the woodwork before the First Division side fell behind to a 20th-minute Scott McDonald header.

Dundee goalkeeper Craig Samson saved a Derek Riordan penalty kick, but McDonald set up Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink to slot in after 60 minutes.

Kevin McDonald pounced to steer Dundee back into the game 11 minutes later. <!-- E SF -->

<!-- S IMED -->

<!-- E IMED -->

Celtic had fielded a strong side as manager Gordon Strachan aimed to avoid a third defeat in a row.

John Kennedy, Evander Sno and Riordan came in for the injured Jean-Joel Perrier-Doumbe, Paul Hartley and Aiden McGeadie.

And Riordan almost made an early impact as the Scottish champions dominated possession.

But goalkeeper Craig Samson managed to block the shot from 10 yards.

Paul McHale and Zemlik had come in for Derek Lyle and Bob Davidson as Dundee boss Alex Rae reverted to one up front.

But the First Division outfit were dangerous at set-pieces and came close to breaking the deadlock after 20 minutes.

Swankie's curling, 22-yard free-kick had goalkeeper Artur Boruc beaten but struck the outside of the post.

Moments later, Zemlik beat Boruc to Freddie Daquin's corner kick and the Czech striker's header struck the crossbar before being cleared by a panicky Celtic defence.

Dundee immediately suffered a blow when right-back David Worrell came off injured, being replaced with the experienced Danny Griffin.

The new man appeared to be the one posted missing when McDonald rose unmarked to head a Riordan free-kick in off the post from 12 yards.

<!-- S IIMA -->

Artur Boruc (left) made several fine saves to deny Dundee
<!-- E IIMA -->

Boruc, to blame for two goals conceded to Hibernian at the weekend, had made an uncertain start but redeemed himself with a fine save from a strong Gary MacKenzie header from 10 yards.

The Polish goalkeeper then did well to turn another Swankie free-kick over the crossbar as Dundee responded to going behind by taking control of the game.

Dundee did concede a penalty seven minutes after the break, when Griffin clipped Riordan.

But Samson managed to smother the Scotland striker's casually-taken spot kick.

Celtic had Boruc to thank again when he turned over a blockbuster of a free-kick from Swankie that flew through the defensive wall.

And, just as Dundee appeared to have Celtic on the back foot once more, McDonald cut the ball back for Vennegoor of Hesselink to turn it home from 12 yards.

Boruc completed a Jekyll and Hyde game with a poor punch that allowed Dundee's McDonald to slot home a reply.

But the home side pressed for an equaliser that never came and Zemlik was sent off in the last minute for persistent fouling.

Dundee: Samson, Worrell (Griffin 23), Dixon, MacKenzie, Palenik, McHale (Davidson 82), Daquin, McDonald, Robertson, Swankie, Zemlik.
Subs Not Used: Sturm, Lyle, Rae.

Sent Off: Zemlik (90). Booked: Zemlik, MacKenzie.

Goals: McDonald 71.

Celtic: Boruc, Caldwell, Naylor, Kennedy, McManus, Scott Brown, Sno, Donati, Riordan, Vennegoor of Hesselink, McDonald.
Subs Not Used: Mark Brown, Killen, Zurawski, O'Dea, O'Brien.

Booked: Vennegoor of Hesselink, Caldwell.

Goals: McDonald 27, Vennegoor of Hesselink 60.

Dida appeared to chase the culprit as he ran away but then collapsed and was eventually taken away on a stretcher.

Celtic could now face the prospect of Uefa sanctions including losing points or expulsion from the competition.

Just seen the Dida incident. What a joke. Dida acted like a complete tool and both him and that braindead fan should be punished.

The fans taps Dida on the colla bone
Dida chases after him
Then falls down after 3 steps
He then grabs at the wrong spot to where the fan touched him
Calls for a stretcher
Wastes 3-4mins but to avail.
Fine Dida, caution the fan
end of story.

Inter Milan got all home matches shut out to the public and a 132,000 pound fine.

We have the best supporters in the world and its even been quoted by a AC MILAN PLAYER! I think a fine for the club and the fan he might even get kicked out the parkhead for a while. Dida needs to be fined or some sort of sanctions against him, so many words i want to say but i wont. FIFA need to crack down on this sorta stuff.
