Disappointing Cech saved us, awesome game from him. Btw what type of card are you meant to get for kicking the ball out of the GK hands?wellyphoenixfan2008-12-23 11:09:38

Ref must have been scared or something, he books lamps and cole for back chat, yet phil neville spent the whole game bleating to the ref and ref assistants

Gutted, no team seems to want to grab a clear lead in this years Prem season......

Hopefully a good run of games over the Xmas period will see us right (uh ho....there I go again....)

Do you think we can get JT off his red this week? Lucky the next three teams we face are West Brom, Fulham and ManU we probably wouldn't need him for any of these games.

From the BBC site.

'Chelsea missed the chance to regain top spot in the Premier League following Monday's stalemate and look set to lose Terry for the Premier League matches against Fulham and West Brom as well as the FA Cup tie against Southend - although he is likely to be available for the crunch match against Manchester United on 11 January. Carvalho is back in full training so probably a week/ten days away from playing.  I thought the straight red was harsh on JT but he's had it coming.  A rest will do him good.

Bridge gone: http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0,,10268~1506904,00.html Rumoured fee is 12 million pounds. It looks like we are going to sign Yuri Zhirkov from CSKA Moscow to replace him.

I feel totally unemotional and unsurprised by the result this morning.  I would say that we are not going to win anything this year.  We look like a team in urgent need of an injection of passion, pace, new ideas, younger legs.  Hang on, that's my standard Phoenix rant!  Anyway, this has been coming and now we have to go to Southend!!  All credit to United, who have dragged themselves back up from a poor start and look the team most likely to come through now.  Just one draw from four Big 4 meetings so far this season tells it's own story for us.  Oh, how we've missed Michael Essien.

Season over the for the Nix, season over the for Blues.  What a depressing 12 hours.

Jose your comparison to the Nix is 100% right but you also left out how horrible we are at set pieces (Defending and attacking) which the Nix also are. After this mornings performance I would say Scolari will be lucky to hold onto his job he is simiply not up to club standards.

Although I don't think missing Michael Essien is the problem as John Obi is a very good enough replacement and is in a fair bit of form I think its our lack of creativitiy (another Nix comparison) with for me only Lampard has creativity while Deco seems to have lost it so in this transfer window I would like to see a few creative midfielders.

Drogba also needs to go he obviously doesn't want to be here and we really need a good, fast striker (Robinho would of been perfect). Now I think our attention should swap to Europe I don't think we can win the EPL now probably 3rd place.

I can't honestly see us doing anything much in Europe.  This morning I just had a sad feeling this team is past it's best.  I think you are right WPF, Drogba should go.  It's the drive and deterimnation of Essien we miss which Mikel doesn't have for all his qualities.  Even Cech looks ordinary these days.  With Liverpool slipping up a lot, the old Chjelsea would have put their foot down during December and motored clear.  Too many players not performing at the moment.  They look tired and uninterested to me.  Not sure replacing Scolari is the answer but if we lose at Southend who knows how Roman will react?

You should go support Inter thats where he is going, I hate people who only support Chelsea for certain players (e.g Ballack or Shev) and then when they leave/retire they go off and support a different team.

Agreed - when he's on fire he's the best there is.  But his last good game was the CL semi final and when he's at his worst he's a pouting, preening, injury prone, egotistical idiot.  I haven't forgiven him getting sent off in Moscow.  Never will.  He's held us to ransom too many times now.  He wants to go, he wants to stay, he wants to go, it's the love of his life, he's unsettled etc.  His time is up - he's just there for the the money now not the shirt.  I no longer care what he does and most Chelsea fans feel the same way.

There isn't one Chelsea player who gives a sh*t about the shirt. Perhaps maybe Terry? But thats where it ends though. Give them an extra 20k a week and they'd all leave.Michael2009-01-14 21:34:30

you will care if he wins us a trophy, or crucial game like he has so many times before.

i thought scolari was a good coach. but he cant get his players to play. mourinho could. the talents definitley there. i guess we should give him more time.

Drogba's already lost you a trophy. Just remember who would've taken that penalty if he hadn't been sent off.

And you think United players are any different?  Neville and Giggs definitely - Ronaldo definitely not.  That's the problem with all the big clubs.  The players are just mercenaries kissing the badge and buggering off when the next pay day comes along.  When Sir Alex finally moves on, United will be in exactly the same situation as Chelsea.

I would actually say Evra, Rio, Neville, Giggs, Scholes, Fletcher, Carrick, Rooney atleast would stay if they were offered more money elsewhere. And not being a cheecky arse United tends to bring them trophies too.

Even if you do disagree with that list, we do have some definates, Beckham and Solskjaer at the least.

Anyway, you guys just need to find a manager and let him have atleast 3 seasons to deliver you results. Then buy some people who aren't super stars... someone like Carrick. And work with it.Michael2009-01-15 21:25:55

Depressing viewing this morning.  Lampard's dismissal was a joke and will clearly be rescinded when he appeals.  But that's covering the cracks really.  What depressed me was how poor this team is now compared with the last few years.  We have a lot of re-building to do.  Too many players are not performing and just going through the motions.  I would like to think that was the final nail in the coffin of this season but suspect we have several more to endure yet.  They look tired and past it.

You offered nothing in attack at all really. Lampard was unlucky (although Bosingwa should be in trouble, to say the least).

Although I did not see the game (watched Aussie Open final and had school today) it looks like we will finish third. Blame this on Scolari he has the players just can't manage a club side by the look of it.

For those who watched the game how was Chelsea in defence and offence for set pieces?

Defence was desperate - we were over run basically and one shot in 95 minutes tells it's own story.  Bad day at the office all round.  Don't blame Scolari - unfortunately once Jose left the egos took over and this set of players need a manager with a bigger ego than them to keep them in line.

No I blame Scolari for how poor our defence is at set pieces and our offensive set pieces are not too better either.
