Like Downey, I was more relieved at the final whistle than anything. We should've put Pompey away by half-time. When we hit the woodwork four times and Kalou missed that sitter, I had a bad feeling it wasn't going to be our day. That was only enhanced when Pompey got the penalty but Cech did what he had to do (although it was an awful penalty to be honest).

Dindane could easily have been sent off. The challenges he made on Ballack and Ash were late and dangerous. I actually thought Ballack was playing really well up until he had to go off (and it's not often I say that).

I thought Lamps' penalty was far too casual but it turns out that it didn't matter. Finally, after 105yrs, us blues can say we've done the double. And add to that the Community Shield and FA Youth Cup, as Jose's Dog said, it's been a fantastic season for us. Bring on 10/11!

Please tell me you're not serious? You think that because someone is voted Player of the Year that it's not up for debate?! Ryan Giggs got the Player's Player of the Year for the Premiership last season but you'd struggle to find a lot of people who agree with it.

Everyone sees football in a different way and it's a game of opinions - always has been. And I don't need any award for someone to tell me who I think the best forward is.

At the end of the day, everyone is entitled to an opinion. There is no right or wrong answer.

37 goals says to me that Drogba has been by far the best striker in the EPL this year.  You can't argue with the stats.  Rooney had a good season but who else was there?

Don't forget the number of assists drogba had over rooney.

I think it is a bit mental how they don't pick player of the year after the seasons finishes.

Ballack out of WC, all spiced by the fact Boateng might play for Ghana - team that plays with Germany in one group in WC. Not mentioning another from Boateng's family playing for...Germany.

Roman Abramovich is still owed 726 million by Chelsea despite reports that he had written off the loan.

Apparently he's recently had a meeting with Fluminense but they're unsure as to whether they can afford him or not. He's very keen to go back to Brazil (his land of origin) so I reckon a deal will be done in the best interests of everyone.

As for the club's money situation, the company accounts show a neat balance with no debts. Abramovich wrote off all outstanding loans he had made to the club and its parent company. There are simply sections of the British media that love to hate us. Happens all the time...

No worries, Downey.

Malouda signed for four years before last season (I guess we should start calling it that???) so he has three years to go as it stands. Good timing by all accounts.

With regards to the away shirt, there is no word coming from the club just yet. However it looks as though we won't have to wait too long as all the current away strips have been reduced which is always a sure-fire sign. Also, all three kits tend to change annually nowadays so I think pre-season would be a realistic release date as it gives breathing space between it and the new home kit release last week.

Hope this helps...

Hates you? LoL get the chip off your shoulder.

In any case it's a good read. [quote]

It is true that the loans from the holding company to Chelsea FC plc were fully converted to shares last year. However Abramovich's loan to Chelsea Limited, the holding company which owns Chelsea FC plc, was not. That loan remains owing; in fact it increased from 701m, because Abramovich loaned another 25m in a year when Chelsea's extravagant spending, and the dismissal of Luiz Felipe Scolari and his coaching team, produced losses of 47m.

The accounts of Chelsea Limited (whose name was changed during the year to Fordstam Limited), show that loan still outstanding: 726m, owed to Abramovich.

A spokesman for the club confirmed that yesterday: "Recapitalisation of loans happened at the level of Chelsea FC plc, not the holding company (Fordstam), therefore making the football club debt free."

The other question that really needs answering is the one about Roman Abramovich's money....  but we won't go there will we....

That's correct Simon. That's why I say that I think the club will delay any new away strips until pre-season so as to allow a gap between that and the home shirt release last week. It's just a way of, in theory, allowing fans to buy all three strips without splashing out in one go.

Looks as though Joey's gone. Man Utd are heavily rumoured to be the club he's agreed a deal with in light of Harry Redknapp's statement yesterday. It's a huge shame but he was never going to get that sort of dough at Chelsea given the season he's just had (although injury accounts for a large portion of it). It's almost certain that Benayoun will be his replacement as things stand.

Whilst Joey is a quality player, he's now 28 and his last two season's (albeit largely affected by injury) haven't been too great. I think the rumoured demands by his agent would have played a big part in him being released as Roman was apparently pretty hacked off at their militant stance.

Ballack simply doesn't have the legs to be playing in the Premiership anymore, given his preferred central midfield role. But he's had spells where he's done very well for us since his arrival.

Belletti has now been added to the list of free agents. Again, he was reliable when called upon but he was never more than a squad player since he joined from Barca.

Good luck to all three, and there will undoubtedly be others following them out the door, but it'll be exciting to see who they're replaced with.

Read today Mourinho thinks about offering Ballack a contract in Real M. Not sure whether Ballack still thinks about this kind of football for him at his age, or just about earning good money somewhere before he ends his carrer - read one of Arabic leagues.

I had read about the Madrid link and, this morning, he's also being linked with Steve McClaren at Wolfsburg. To be honest, I think he could still possibly do a job at Real Madrid as the pace of the game in Spain is generally a lot slower than the Premier League. The warmer weather would probably help prolong his top-flight career too.

Whilst I've also read the report linking him with the Middle East, I think he will have to make a tough choice to make. He's been saying he still wants to play for Germany so that would definitely rule out a move to the UAE. Time will tell...PaulSG2010-06-10 19:37:02

These should both be confirmed very shortly:

* Miroslav Stoch has signed a 4yr deal with Fenerbahce in Turkey. I really don't understand that one as I thought he had a bright future ahead of him at the club. I'd assume it means Scott Sinclair, Jack Cork and Ryan Bertrand will make their loan moves permanent soon too.

* Joe Cole has signed for Arsenal for slightly less money (80k pw apparently) but the deal is laden with incentives.

And so it would appear that the size of the cull this summer is going to be far greater than we all anticipated. Deco rumoured to be next.

For Joe Cole . . .Arsenal would be a mistake, he's English and wouldn't get on the field. . . .

Anyway Tottenham Hotspurs are linked as well. There are all sorts of reports saying this and that for Spurs, Arsenal and both Manchester Clubs that it is silly to suggest it has decided until after the World Cup.

He has commented that he prefers the other london clubs (I think to avoid moving) and Harry Redknapp was his former manager at former club in West Ham United for many years. So Spurs has the inside running. There is a better chance of a starting line up with Spurs plus he gets to play with more of his England National Teammates at the club. [At Arsenal there is only 4 English players in the 29 man squad and none of which are in the regular starting line-up, with Theo Walcott being in and out of the line-up]. He will enjoy being at Spurs rather than Arsenal. A mistake going to Arsenal. It would better if he had even gone back to West Ham United than turn up at Arsenal IMHO.AllWhitebelievr2010-06-11 05:17:21
