What the hell was Hilario doing for the first goal?

This whole Terry shambles is going to dis-rail both Chelsea & England's campaigns.

On another point, does anyone else think Bridge is playing the victim a little too much?  Wasn't it his EX-girlfriend after all?  The one he was happy to leave behind when he moved to Manchester?  Admittedly you would never want your ex to hook up with one of your mates but really... I don't think anyone really cares how it plays out off the pitch.  And Craig Bellamy having a pop at JT for his behaviour - hilarious.

They were together at the time.  Now they are ex BF/GF.

Thats not how i tended to read it? i thought the main problem was they had a kid and JT and Bridge were friends when they were together....stand to be corrected tho

From what i read. If Bridge hadn't been involved at all, it still would have been pretty low as she was one of JT's wifes best friends

From what I understand is that Bridge's relationship was rocky when he signed and moved to Manchester.  She stayed in London.  So it was probaly boarder line whether they were together officially.  Doesn't really matter in my book.

Classy? I prefer the term "honest". What goes on off the pitch doesn't interest me.

Good thing you're not a football coach or player. Sorry, but what goes on off the field has quite alot to how players play on the field...

I'm both a player and a coach but that has nothing to do with anything. I'm not disputing your point that certain issues can affect on the pitch performance, but as fans at Chels we don't care what JT has done off the pitch. As long he continues to deliver for the club (which he does, despite his off form of late), then we won't complain.

You're pretty much saying he could murder a man in cold blood and you wouldn't care as long as he helps Chelsea to three points on a Sat arvo.

Nice on bro.

Three for me, and two for them.

Downey is spot on. There's a slight difference between murdering someone and sleeping with a team-mates EX-missus. And, if he had murdered someone, he wouldn't be around to win three points on a Saturday arvo anyway if we're going to split hairs.

But the point still remains, a player's private life is exactly that. If he produces on the pitch week-in and week-out, that's what the supporters want.

FA cup QF this weekend. im pretty sure malouda wont be playing LB again.

i think ferriera will play at LB with branislav at RB. mikel needs to stay back and not get caught out, its not like his attacking play is so wonderful anyway.

lamps playing well so thats a positive. with him, joe cole and malouda in attack i think we can get past stoke but we really need to find some consistant form in the league.

Separate on and off field manner all you want, fine with me, i agree with you on the most part. But calling JT the 'bigger man' just because he offered a handshake is ridiculous.

I think you're right about Malouda. I fancy he'll give Ferreira a game at left-back against Stoke. I also agree about Mikel. The beauty of Makelele was that he used to sit in front of the back four and never went forward. Mikel doesn't seem disciplined enough to do that. I'd like to see Nemanja Matic given a chance against Stoke. He looked useful against Watford in the 3rd Round.

Agreed, Paul. I actually like the look of young Jack Cork too. He's currently on loan at Burnley but has played for England at Under-21 level too. Looks like he's going to be quite a useful player. We still have Miroslav Stoch to come back from his loan spell at Twente and I think he'll be a good player. The key is whether they get enough playing time or whether Roman will splash the cash again in the summer.

Back to our best yesterday. I thought we were always in control of the game and the back four played well. JT was back to his best and his goal was superb, Alex was faultless alongside JT. I rarely give 10/10 to a player but his performance was worthy of it. Ferreira had a good game at left-back and looked threatening when going forward too (something he's not often managed in the past).

If I had to be picky, I'd say that Mikel and Kalou simply aren't good enough. I thought Mikel looked quite useful when he first joined but he simply doesn't have the discipline to play the holding role. Kalou is capable of the odd superb performance, but they're few and far between.

Into the semi's we go - Villa at Wembley. Bring it on!

that was a good result, was unable to see the game but have seen the goals

good to hear alex played well, hes a very sloid defender but in the past ive felt he gets caught out to easily and has to rush back and make a sprawling tackle.

as for mikel and kalou, well i feel mikel has what it takes, just needs a bit more time, still so young. i agree with you that kalou has great performances, just not enough of them

JT has come out saying how good he thought alex was, nice to have such an adequate cover.

sounds like drogba was also good in coming back and defending the long throws, sice mourinho ive felt we are very good at getting back and defending as a team

i remember a game where joe cole scored the winner but was blasted by jose for not helping out in defence enough, relly ingrained that style of play in alot of players to come back and defend

We certainly were. And to think we only exist because Fulham refused to move into Stamford Bridge back in 1905. We are forever in debt to Gus Mears for giving us a club all those years ago.

the only bright spot this weekend was our nice win over west ham

just what we needed before inter

Yes, indeed! Always nice to turn the spammers over.

We had control of the game right from the off. West Ham created very little and Alex and JT looked very comfortable together at centre-half again. Ferreira had another good game at LB, despite the return to fitness of Zhirkov. There was a lot of pressure on Ross Turnbull but he really didn't have much to do. He couldn't be blamed for the goal, so hopefully he'll be confident for the visit of Inter tomorrow night.

huge game this morning

only change from west ham game is zhirkov replacing ferriera at LB

man this is massive, crucial we get the first goal and make them chase the game then get them on the counter

Doesn't look to bright for Chelsea so far. Few half-chances so far for the Blues.
Despite the lack of goals pretty entertaining to watch.
