Real Madrid winger Robinho claims he could be used as a makeweight in a deal to take Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo to Spain.

The Brazil international, who has also interested Chelsea, is keen to remain in Madrid but concedes he would have 'no problem in leaving'.

Robinho's remarks, reported by Portuguese newspaper A Bola, contradict numerous statements from United, who have repeatedly said they are not interested in trading Ronaldo. The Spanish champions declined to comment on Robinho's claims. The Brazilian said: 'There are proposals, yes. One is from Manchester United which would be in exchange for Cristiano Ronaldo and the other is from Chelsea.'

Robinho played an important role in Madrid's Primera Liga title success last season - scoring 11 goals in 32 league games - but faces an uncertain future under Bernd Schuster. He added: 'I have never hidden my desire to remain at Real Madrid. 'But if the negotiations materialise into something I will have no problem in leaving.'

Robinho's comments will increase speculation around Ronaldo, who revealed on Saturday he will make an announcement on his future in 'two to three days'.

..................................................................................

What do you man U fans think of this development, would you like to see Robinho at Old T even if it meant losing a 42 goal hero??

LG, I read on theworldgame.com.au that Arjen Robben was also being used as a sweetner for the Ronaldo deal.

Why? I'm not bagging him, just re-reporting an article on him and asking man U fans their views as in an interesting discussion.

I don't know about Robben, he went down quicker than anyone when it came to diving.

exactly, and he wasnt even good at it.

i think losing Ronaldo at the moment would be a disaster, we have a great team at the moment that is capable of even more success in the coming years, especially with the yung talent at our disposal that is still to peak, a la nani and anderson

With your current squad, and i see they added Ramsey from Cardiff city today, Man U have laid a platform for the next 5 years at least. Fergies babes from when he first started are almost gone now, yet they are being replaced with worthy players. Ronaldo's continued role is essential to bring the new fellas through. Everyone at training must learn something from watching him. despite his sometimes poor behaviour in regards to diving, his ball control and skills cannot be quesstioned. He is pretty much a complete player on current form. And essential peice to the Old Trafford jigsaw puzzle.

exactly what i mean, he is important over the next couple of years, in guiding the new guns, they will beimmense in a few years, and once players like nani have got experience the world will be at their feet. although disapointing, i wont be too unhappy to see ronaldo fulfil his dream at real madrid in a few years, providing we get a massive fee, but for now he's vital

Football365 have just said that Madrid are preparing a bid that will include the ludricous sum of 300,000 GBP per week! and thats after tax, Young Ronaldo has said that he would like to play there, but only if a deal is reached between the two clubs. Barca are cheapstakes on the otherhand, and have only offered a paultry 200,000 per week.

I feel sorry for the player, especially if he goes to either of them, as being Portuguese wont help him if either of them get beatan by say Getaffe. The Spainards will straight away look for a reason of failer, and who will they string up first, The guy from Portugal.

Didnt Figo have the same problems when he first went to Spain?

sigh, the signs are not looking good with all he rumours about at the moment. i still think he would be an absolute fool to leave now, he is only 23, there is plenty of time for him to play for real ffs, hes got at least 10 years barring injury.

For some reason I just don't see him leaving. I don't think the Glazers want to sell him off and its fairly obvious that Fergie has no intention of getting rid of him, another big tournament comes up and the rumours fly again. Can't United just start Gerrard to Chelsea rumours to keep the papers of Uniteds back.

Well according to 365, the Madrid Mouthpiece cliam they have signed Ronaldo for 150,000 pounds a week, which is half the price that the club were supposed to of offered him. Apparently Sir Alex has pissed him off with comments made earlier in the week. This one seems to be getting intresting. Personally, I dont care weather Ronaldo signs for Madrid or stays Man U. But if he does go the main loser will be the Premier League, as im sure that even though Utd fans love him, they wouldnt want him there if he aint doing the business, and the league loses, as we lose a real great talent, and a reason why so many people want to watch our game, and our league.

I hear Real are prepared t pay 300,000 per week and Barca are now interesting and are prepared to pay 200,000 per week. I just hope the fellas strong charactor shows up, that much money and all the free loaders will be over him as fast as possible and he wont own or have his own life! Lonegunmen2008-06-23 23:56:38

I wouldn't count on it. Don't put it past the Glazers to pocket a fair chunk of any profit.

Debt repayment at Old trafford? Didn't they borrow 800 million to buy Man United?? And I found this today from Ian Wright.....

AS a player, theres no doubt what youre capable of. As a man, youre not showing any class whatsoever.
Youre also failing to show any respect to either Alex Ferguson or the Manchester United fans.
To be honest, Im embarrassed for you.
Youre now 23 and you should not be acting quite so immature.
Youve been at Old Trafford for five years but its only the last two seasons youve set the place on fire.
revious to that, Fergie stuck with you. Despite your diving and despite the fact you would always try to take on a defender rather than pass to a team-mate. When you acted a right winker at the World Cup two years ago, your club manager once again showed extreme loyalty to you, along with Uniteds fans.

They could have turned on you after your behaviour during the England match in Germany but they didnt.
Youve now become one hell of a player the best on this planet. Id pay just to see you warm-up, let alone play a game.
But with the drop of a hat, it seems youre ready to join Real Madrid.
Whats the rush? Youre still so young, for heavens sake. Surely you should give United another two years service before thinking about heading off to the Bernabeu.
I understand if its your dream to play for Real but you owe it to United to be patient and thats why you should stay. Doesnt the affection of Uniteds fans and your team-mates mean anything to you?
Im sure youve got advisors whispering in your ear but surely you have realised they could only be in it for the money, rather than your personal welfare.
While Real may be tempting you with 300,000 a week after tax, how much money do you actually want? If you stay in Manchester, you could be banking 7.5million a year. It shouldnt be about money at all, in any case.
At the end of the season, Id have loved it if you had said Im not interested in joining Real Im happy at United.
But you didnt. You gave a smile and said youd let us know in two or three weeks. You may have thought you were being funny but no one was laughing.
Even if you do surprise us and decide to stay at United, Im not convinced your heart will be in the job. Not after your recent behaviour.
In 12 months time, well end up with another similar will-he-leave-or-will-he-stay pantomime. Arsenal had this with Patrick Vieira and it didnt do anyone any good.
Having a player in this situation is a bit like having a girlfriend who is unhappy. There comes a time when you just have to split.
The whole episode reminds me of when I had the chance to leave the Gunners for Chelsea. At the time I didnt get on with then-boss Bruce Rioch. But if Id gone it would have been for a football reason and not money. I never wanted to leave Arsenal and, fortunately for me, Rioch left and I stayed with the club I loved.
Of course, I know youre not the only one to blame in this.
It seems Real have again shown they have a disregard for other clubs and the rules of football. But theyll continue to act like this, as long as theyre allowed to get away with it.
Its a sorry reminder that football can be a real cesspit. Id love it if you could show some guts and prove us wrong by staying with United.

Sadly, I dont think you will.

This whole saga is really making me angry. For Sir Alex to make Ronaldo the player he has become today and then ronaldo starts to shine, for him to possibly f**k off to Madrid would be so dissapointing for all United fans. He is amazing and the skill he brings to the pitch the things he does i dont think any other footballer has that.

its all about money mate, you would be crazy not to accept that kind of money sir alex wont get to make the decision - the owners will, united have won everything there is to win, you might as well make your crazy ludicrous money while its there - there will be another ronaldo just like we all said there will never be another beckham.

ok seriously, he would be on crazy enough money as it is, the contract he signed last year would not have been a small one i am sure, as he had already hsowed what kind of season he was having at that stage, to sign for madrid is nothing more than pure greed,i mean he would make enough from promotion etc, to go with his salary from United. he is a hipocrite for asking for loyalty from United, we have shown him more than any other club would have. if he had gone to madrid when we bought him he would have become nothing, they would not have waited for him to develop like we did in those first couple of seasons.

Madrid and Barca are scumbags when it comes to poaching players. The clubs president get elected on promises to bring this player or that player. they arnt even thinking about whats good for the club, its about staying in power. they are the "Mugabe's" of football.

1] Even i will not qustion "the Pretty one's" skills, an awesome talent.

2] I reckon he should stay at Old T. Why? Because he set a bench mark near perfection last season, if he stays, he could prove that it was not a one off, or even beat it.

3] If he leaves, we will always wonder if it was a flukey season or that he really had become so good. I can't really see him developing in Spain. Fergusson (& it pains me to acknowledge this) has the ability to draw out the very best potential in players and if they dont perform, he's not afraid to get rid of them. But Fergusson is the best coach in the world today. I wonder if he could do it with Scotland?

I'll stick my head out and say I don't think he will leave. Two years ago this similar rubbish happened after the world cup and the rooney incident, but he came back and had a stellar coupla years.

I know not many take it seriously, but the pull to play in the World Cup Champs is there, a chance to win a different trophy, is one reason to stay. Calderon said they would only pay a reasonable transfer fee, not the 80mill pounds some, including their coach, suggested. United won't accept a reasonable amount (perhaps enough to bring in Messi?), so I believe Cristiano will stick round for a bit longer at least. I remember him saying he wanted to be a legend at United, like Bestie, who left at the age of 26.

Having said all that, if Queiroz goes to manage Portugal, then how does Carlos' comments about loyalty seem? Cristiano may be headed for Madrid then

you could hardly blame him if he left. footballers have a limited lifespan in the game and one dodgy tackle can be the end of it all. if someone offered me double the money i was already getting id find it pretty hard to turn down.
as a side note, how would nike cope with him wearing an adidas shirt every week? would he lose sponsorship dollars through that? rodfarva2008-06-27 15:35:32

Rod that is an old cliche but with todays values, out dated. Players turning to coaching, media jobs, acting,  etc, make it invalid really. When they hang up their boots, they just have to adapt to the real world like everyone else that works 9-5 or various hours similar. Also considering the sponsorship deals that also assist in creating their next egg. Ronaldo could quite the game right now and never have to work ever again and live a wealthy class lifestyle too.Lonegunmen2008-06-28 11:27:37

Bugger.  I was hoping he would buy a pub in Salford and end up a fat, bloated, penniless ex-pro flogging his medals on E Bay.  We can dream!
