I see Watford vs. West Brom is the live TV One match this week. Who actually decides on this? Surely they could have picked a better game involving more popular teams..

From what I understand they try to get all teams on here at least once during the season, and they can't use the Mon/Tues 7am games, the aim is to be able to show at least one game for free, and try to have all fans see their team.

With the times the games are on they are limited in what games they can put on. They can't choose the Sunday games or Monday night football game. Then with the time difference at the moment the early Saturday game kicks off at midnight, which may be a bit early for TV to put on. So then they are limited to 4/5 games in the 2am kick off or the late kick off. And this week there is no late kick off with it being moved to Friday night. Add also that the broadcasters in the UK stack the early part of the season with big TV games which are 4 of the 5 games TV 1 aren't able to show..

Performed poorly last night for Arsenal vs Palace.

Had it on best available, but it was low definition throughout, quite bit of stuttering etc. Tried other browsers, tried pre-selecting the quality, nothing made it better.

Now this morning, they've only just put up the highlights from one game, not the other yet, and it's not working when you try and play them. I notice on their website they have a message up saying they are working on issues, but that it should work if you refresh the browser - it doesn't. Tried multiple browser types as well.

Crap to be honest.

Yeah, this is my first time having my own access to PLP (always scrounging off others and only ever using when Arsenal games didn't conflict with others), how long usually does it take for game highlights to be available? I had a look late last night and there was nothing from that morning.

Arsenal game as a replay at 8am this morning was fine though.

The highlights are put up in pretty adhoc fashion from what I've seen, you can't rely that they will be available at a particular time or anything.

They are also pretty amateur with how they upload and display them - you click on highlights on the website and there's press conferences and interviews and all sorts of sh*t there.

On the android phone app, you click on highlights and it displays 4 games from a year ago.

Very messy.

The highlights were always an absolute joke, probably an easy bit of content to be selling off/using to generate leads yet they do bugger all with it.

Haven't signed on for PLP this season, resorting to Arsenal TV on Sky and would rather go without seeing the result until it's on Sky delayed than the rubbish stuttering and low res I had on PLP last season.

I too tried Chrome, Firefox and IE and before anyone asks about my internet speed we've had Fibre since July 2014 and average 27 mb/s.

Unless they improved it to be flowing speed and HD I'm not going back to pay another $200 on top of other subscriptions.

That game was horrid, never really worked. It seems to happen with at least one game every week or two. It's interesting as I have gone to other sites to stream those same games and they are having feed stutter issues as well. From what I understand there is a problem with the feed coming in from the provider (Not PLP, but whoever they are getting it from). I'm not saying I know more than others,  just stating my understanding...

that's weird, I watched that game live with no issues. It did stutter a couple of seconds once or twice.

That is weird, I saw a lot of people moaning about it, I ended up going back to bed and then watching it in the morning :P

So I've signed up.  Basic question but was watching this morning on my ipad streaming through airplay, but the picture on my TV was only about 2/3 of the screen.  Quality was ok, had a couple of weird moments and the kicked me out of the app just before half time because apparently someone else had logged in.  Anyone offer any tips for optimal settings for ipad, watching through the app and streaming through airplay?  I have fibre (which seemts to have its own issues but that's another story).

Mine did much the same on Sunday morning, 2 times it kicked me out saying someone else had logged in, at least 3-4 times i got the black screen with white text re not enough bandwidth. Mine also took 2/3's of the screen, although it's the first time it's done that.

Contrast that to the 3 hr Eagles doco i watched last night in HD on Netflix, absolutely flawless, didn't skip a beat...(and we're on VDSL here)

Ok so no fix for the 3/4 screen thing?  Wondered whether I don't have the correct resolution settings.  I like the concept but so far execution seems flawed

It sounds like a possible issue with the TV Display settings, most TVs have a "reset display" or similar option, using this with the airplay running can make it basically check the settings on the TV and set it right. (I admit to only having done this previously when connected via HDMI though)

Streaming something live is a completely different thing to that though.

Be better to compare to other live sport streaming services available in NZ.

Airplay is rubbish which might be part of the problem.

One dependency is the quality of your wireless router. It has to stream the info to your ipad then back to your TV. Heavy load.

Why do I need to log in every time I use the app on my phone or ipad? Is this something everyone has to deal with or just me?

mine logs in by itself on iPhone most of the time. Maybe it's when switching between iPhone and iPad that it logs out of the other?

It seems to be an issue when you have logged in elsewhere, so if you have logged in on a PC etc, then back to phone you have to log in, or that is what I have found, logs in fine on phone at other times.

I didn't watch the football live, it was probably around 6 or so hours after the game had finished...

New apple TV with app store, PLP's response to being asked if an app would be in the pipeline? "not at this stage" ffs

they'd probably want to make sure they get the rights from next season before developing any apps.

If they do I hope an option other than connecting the laptop to TV finally becomes available to me. Really holding out for a PS3/4 app.

On the topic of streaming, I'm probably going to dump Sky after the RWC as I expect a lot of people are. Got the 3 months free Lightbox from PLP which I still haven't started since I've been away on holiday. And this week Vodafone sent me a code for free Neon for 6 months. Will also try the free Netfilx trial to see how that works. Those plus freeview should provide more than enough content other than sport. Main things I'll need to find elsewhere immediately will be A League for Phoenix away games and Champions League. Other than them the next thing would be the Australian Open in January, but being only 2 weeks Fanpass would probably do for something like that.

True, I could do that too and I watched the 6 Nations on BBC this year. But figure I may aswell make use of the ease of Sky for this as I have it and then change things.

So signed up for Lightbox last night and attempted to use the code for 3 months free from PLP but got a message that the code could not be found. So went onto their live chat and the guy didn't know so had to go and ask someone and it turns out it's expired. Said there was no mention from PLP of the code expiring, just that it was 3 months free and since I was overseas on holiday from mid August there was no point signing up until I got back. The guy said to forward the email from PLP onto their help email address and they would see what they could do so waiting for a reply now.

I did think it might expire so asked PLP when I got it but they never replied so I just figured I'd be able to use it now. If they had said it expired I'd have just signed up and still got 2 months free after my holiday. Hopefully they come back and say I can have the 3 months since they never said it expired and I'm only trying to use it the next month, not like it's a year later or anything. As for how it worked, it was a joy to be able to watch through a PS4 app instead of having to connect the laptop to the TV like with PLP, TVNZ, TV3, Sky Go. Watched a couple of shows and it worked perfectly aside from freezing to load for a few seconds a couple of times. No ads and worked much better than all those others, with no stuttering or jerkiness as I get with PLP. Just made me wish for access to a PLP app even more.

Good selection of shows from a first look - some recent/new I'm interested in and quite few older ones I have been wanting to watch but haven't yet. Pretty sure I'll keep it going once I have to pay and get rid of Sky. Next to try Neon (got 6 months free from Vodafone) and Netflix.

yeah love the ps4 app. If you can plug an Ethernet cable straight into your ps4 definitely do it, I never have any freeze issues since doing that. Hopefully PLP get a ps4 app if they retain the EPL rights, as it makes it very simple.

Really hope so and since they have this "partnership" with Lightbox, surely they wouldn't need to develop an app from scratch either.

Got a reply from the help team that they agree from what I forwarded and their own files there was no expiry date given so have passed it onto the marketing team to see if they will honour it in good faith.

Got a reply back that the marketing team can't do anything because it wasn't directly offered by them so I need to contact PLP support. Wouldn't hold my breath to even get a reply from them but guess I'll forward the email trail to them and just forget about it. Would have thought Lightbox would just be able to generate a new code and be done with it. I know for next time that promo codes should be used instantly even if the timing may not be convenient.

Sorry to hear that AJ. Lightbox have been fairly decent with queries for me.

As for app- don't you have to buy a Samsung TV? Then you don't need to connect the laptop...

I don't want to buy a Samsung TV when I have a perfectly good one I spent a lot of money on in 2012. Unfortunately didn't know it was going to be the wrong brand at the time.

Haven't heard back from PLP yet regarding the Lightbox code but don't really expect to.

it's strange lightbox bounced you back to PLP, as I can't imagine what they'd be able to do about it.
