they probably thinking they may get it and planning promos around a deal being sorted.

Could be standard practice to have the promo ready to go in advance given how notoriously shark they can be about securing rights at the eleventh hour. Probably got a physio drafting a press release as we speak.

126 is a strange number too. Perhaps they've got 3 or 4 clubs (like they have now) but it will now be live??

126 is a weird number. Could that not be from Sky UK since the rights are shared there and no one provider has all the games?

I was, so messaged them on fb. They replied within 5 mins and have refunded the amount charged.

The old grab their money before we fly away stunt and if they complain give it back to them.

If they don't keep it.

Has a 20 per cent success rate so can make some coin.

I've done this and they've not responded yet - good to know they are doing refunds.

Your credit card company can also reverse the charge, just talk to them if csm doesn't reply.

Story in Stuff today...

"Sky say they are still negotiating to buy back the rights for English football's flagship competition - won earlier this month by underdogs Leicester City - in time for the 2016-17 kick off in August from the Dubai-based broadcaster Bein Sport.

Bein confirmed in an email that they had acquired the rights for next season's EPL. The network doesn't have a New Zealand broadcast platform but said in an email they would be "available soon".

About an hour later they have refunded me. Good sorts to the end.

The absolute worst thing about all of this is if Sky get the right's we'll end up paying $55.99 per month for access on a worse platform filled with content we don't necessarily want.

$55.99/month for a 10 month season so $559.90 in total. Paying for products we dont actually want just to get the football. I will miss the $149 for a 10 month season of EPL. I will simply go back to watching streams.

Fan pass is $55.99 a month

Permalink Permalink

right - but that's for more than just one sport and no-one is likely to purchase Fanpass for 12 months - surely you would just pickup a traditional subscription.

Let me assure you I have no idea if SKY are going to be getting the EPL and if they do what they will sell it for - but to assume it will be the same as Fanpass doesn't sound at all right.

And I imagine if all games are live (which I doubt they would be) then they'd be on the pop up channel, which isn't included in fan pass. So you're forking out for basic + sport package, which is quite expensive (although that deal through their marketing company which big Pete keeps posting about sounds like decent value).

I still fail to see the advantage of fan pass. It seems you pay a lot more for a dedicated area of sky than you do by getting the basic package with Sky Sports added - especially on their promotion deals. Discovery Turbo would be the best channel on there if is wasn't for the constant self promos. 5 minutes of self promos followed by a 2 minute program break and so on.

Fan passes, Sky, Netflix, Neon, Lightbox...argh...can someone just tell me what my best option is if I want to watch cricket, football, surfing, the odd movie and HBO content (and also The Walking Dead)

It needs to be more expensive in SKY's mind. A lot of subscribers only have SKY for sport. If they make FanPass cheaper, people will ditch SKY.

Can't look as I'm at work but is that just for live streaming? Any options for delayed viewing?
