Can't believe that they would comment in 2003 for 2008. They had yet to play in 2004, and only five of those players were in Portugal that year. I saw them play three games, and they never really looked like they were going to win anything.
If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

I don't think I've even heard of half those players and I've been watching English football for the last 5 or so years.

Worth clicking on he "Your say: Pick the best of the bunch?" link on that page.
The 2nd comment includes the following "However, two to look out for - Cherno Samba and Paul Iffil (sic) of Millwall."
Whatever became of that Iffil chap?

haha, nice. Neil Mellor... oh big things were expected of him. He suppose to be next inline after Owen, and Fowler.

Actually hadn't read those before, they're even better than the article!
How about this guy:
England have masses of promising players, like:
Goalkeepers - Paul Robinson, Chris Kirkland, Robert Green, Richard Wright.
Defenders - Michael Dawson, Rio Ferdinand, Wes Brown, Martin Taylor, Tony Hibbert, James McEvely, Matthew Taylor, Darren Kenton.
Midfielders - Michael Tonge, James Milner, Gareth Barry, David Dunn, Jermaine Pennant, Joe Cole, Matthew Etherington.
Strikers - Neil Mellor, Carlton Cole, Wayne Rooney, Jermaine Defoe, Francis Jeffers.
A squad of these players at 2006 would be in with a chance.
William, England

Talent of tomorrow
Anton Ferdinand
Jeremie Aliadiere
Johnnie Jackson
Wayne Rooney
Richie Partridge
John O'Shea
Paul Konchesky
The state of that list. Have never heard of Jackson or Partridge. Only know Aliadiere because of how rubbish he was for us.

There is one guy talking sense in the comment section:
"And before picking your squads for the 2006 World Cup, make sure you qualify for the tournament. "

Richie Partridge... that's a name I haven't heard of in a while, Liverpool youngster, winger. Didn't have huge potential, got injured... A LOT. Looked to only ever be, at best, a squad player. Can't remember him being as hyped as even some one like Paul Anderson or Anthony Le Tallec.
