Whats Capello thinking?

Leaving players like Gabriel Agbonglahor and Ashley young out of the squad was a mistake and Gabby proved it by scoring a hatrick on the weekend. Ok, i'm a Villan fan so those 2 stand out the most to me but  the message is that England's current squad has failed time and time again (and again against the Czechs). Get the idea, it's time for a change. Jermain Defoe id not going to be the selection that will save England. Gabby and Ash could be.

For any chance at success Capello needs to herald in the new generation England squad, jesus he wouldn't even give Gabby a chance in a joke of a match against Trinidad & Tobego (chosing to play again Defoe instead....why?!?!?!! ) let alone the Czechs when him and Ashley are 2 of the hottest youngsters in the prem!

Seems like the same old s$%t from England - Capello doesn't look set to achieve anything special at this rate...

Bring in the new generation.

Totally agree, more than half of this squad have been there before and achieved nothing. Defoe, Heskey, James, Downing are categorically not international quality. For ffffff s sake dump them and give others a go.

For my mind Crappelo is playing it safe so that if he fails he can blame it on a lack of talent. To not pick Ashley Y and Gabby Ag is footballing insanity.

Nix, Leyton Orient and Alloa Athletic supporting schmuck.

I think the problem England has is the continued reliance on Gerrard and Fat Frank in the midfield. I thought that Capello would have to balls to tell them both to f**k off, but he obviously doesn't.
England's options up front are pretty slim these days too, I'm a bit of a fan of Peter Crouch, think he should be in the frame.
Agbonlahor and especially Young look very good young players in the Premiership, but I feel that there's too much hype being created about them that could do them more harm in the long term. I agree that they should be in the picture, but to expect them to turn England's fortunes around is a bit fanciful. International football, especially in Europe, is very different to the Premiership, and not many young English players of late have looked comfortable at that level staight away - and many are unlikely to do so. But they do nee to be in the picture ahead of the likes of Defoe, Heskey, maybe even Beckham if his set pieces are as consistently as crap as they have been for the LA Galaxy.

I don't understand English managers. They all try exactly the same thing. The same core of the team is always present (Cashley, Ferdinand, Terry, Lampard, Gerrard, Rooney). These players, the 11 they keep picking (consisting of the above core players) DO NOT WORK. We can all see that. Why not have an overhaul, its about picking the best players that play well together.

-Richards--Ferdinand-Wheater-Bridge
-Young---Hargreaves---Gerrard-J.Cole
-----------Ashton---Abonglahor-----------

for england, the tried and true isint really working anymore (was it ever?) but i agree with pretty much every thing said on this page. he should be mixing it up, or else getting to south africa in 2010 could prove a tough task. and from what ive read, (sky dident even show the england vs checloslovakia) the chechs should have won it.

i predict tough times ahead for capello.

Are you McBeth in disguise?

Three for me, and two for them.
