3-1 to England

and a few of the big'eads in the squad being pulled back down to earth by our Italian friend  -about bloody time!!

I like his sense of discipline and structure in the squad, hopefully not too many of the players will fold under a bit of reality - but to any that do good riddance

I am so uninspired by this expected team. Still, should mean I drop any expectations (although they have been quite low for a decade, now!)

I love the fact that loads of the press have all made mention of how surprised they are that all the team made it to the first breakfast on time.

How low are expectations if that is a surprise.......

*shakes head and wanders off mumbling about how things are different from my day, modern players don't know they're born, and that Bobby Moore was never late for a breakfast even if he was still a bit pissed from the night before...*

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked

oh, and 2-0 to En-ger-land, with goals from Cole (to get the first goal of the Don Cappello era) and Gerrard.

I am quite excited about supporting England again after spending the entire McClown reign hoping they would lose every game 10-0.

C'mon you chocolate eating, clock making, money hoarding, yodelling Swiss b******s! Jag2008-02-07 09:36:24

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Help us to understand your pain. Why do you SO MUCH want England to get beaten? Have you ever asked yourself the WHY question? Or is it simply hard-wired into your roots?

Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

WHY? WHY? Haven't you seen Braveheart?  Yes, it is hard-wired into my roots!

Sorry, DF. Actually, I'm in no pain whatsoever and, tbh, I don't really give a toss who wins. It's just always fun to see our English friends giving it the 'Why do you hate us so much stuff"

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

The last six "permanent" England managers won their opening games in charge. None of them went on to win a major trophy. Sir Alf Ramsey did - and he lost his first game in charge, against France in February 1963.

Maybe Matthew Upson can turn one past James to enrich the future of English Football

no, but I'm happy that we rolled the Swiss

CMON ENGLAND!!

only saw the second half but happy overall,

Bently looked good, England kept a good shape, Rooney looked hungry

and nice work by Gerrard for number 2

concentration let them down after those two subs, and Wright-Phillips pushed some strange/inaccurate passes

but despite Urions superstiscious (sp) post I'm happy with that result

Fascinating note in the BBC report -

No sooner had the boos started than Joe Cole burst into life, skipping past Stephan Lichtsteiner and crossing from the byeline for Jenas to tap in from four yards

I wonder what is the longest spell an England team has gone without being booed in the "tabloid/red tops" era?????

Thought we looked quite good overall, fairly professional and organised performance. Their keeper played well as did that sub striker on debut who nicked the goal. But overall i was pretty pleased with what i saw.

Three for me, and two for them.

only saw 2nd half but liked what i saw of bentley and rooney. wright phillips to me will always be blighted by his move to chelski, think he could of been a much better player had he stayed at city/ gone to a team where he gets a start every week.
with lampard and terry to come back think it will be a better team. where was arron lennon?

You forgotten who the new Coach is?

Wasn't much chance of Mr Capello playing 4-2-4 was there    He's not exactly noted for his exciting, attacking formations is he. That's why he pissed off a lot of people, and got the boot, at Real Madrid.
