How can a player only start 12 games in a regular season and receive the Player of the Year?

There is no doubting his contributions over the years but to receive this award seems very sentimental or Kiwi sport.

Ryan Giggs 12 starts, 12 off the bench. 1 goal and 7 assists

PFA Player's Player of the year

Baffling decision by the players

thaank you for your support ove rtheir stupidity!

Ferguson expected him to win the award - even above his other players such as Ronaldo. I think it is unfair to say he doesnt deserve it - he has been a big force for United in the past year. Anyway, it is voted by the players so they obviously feel that he has been a difficult player to face.

When you call someone stupid it really loses a lot of the impact when you can't even spell properly

Look at the players team of the year:

PFA Premier League team of the year: Edwin van der Sar (Man Utd); Glen Johnson (Portsmouth), Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd), Nemanja Vidic (Man Utd), Patrice Evra (Man Utd); Ashley Young (Aston Villa), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Ryan Giggs (Man Utd), Cristiano Ronaldo (Man Utd); Nicolas Anelka (Chelsea), Fernando Torres (Liverpool)

I can't believe there is no Lampard. But I suppose it is the players team of the year...

To be fair he probably deserves to be amongst the group of players but I'd say there's definitely an element of sentimentality in the players final decision...

as i have mentioned 100 times befor, and as everybody knows i can't spell, i have asked news to keep an eye on my posts to edit them but this one must have sliped through the gap. the point of the post still stands.

and as for the kop, typicial post comming from a scouser who hasnt won anything in a long time. 6 of the 12 were from united, is that sentimential as well?

Hasn't Owen played more minutes? Surely that counts...

as much as the award is more of lifetime achievement award for Giggs, it has been easy for players to vote for him (and remember - it is the players who vote for this award) because there has been no other stand out.  Vidic has been rock like in some games, paper like in others, Gerrard missed a lot of the season with injuries, Van De Sar would be like giving it to Ferguson, etc.

The other thing is that I am pretty sure that the Player of the Year is still only for the season, not the calendar year.  That makes (a) the title and (b) the fact that it is awarded in April inane.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

I personally don't agree with Giggs, but oh well. Fantastic servant for United and all, but the way they went crazy over that goal he scored was ridiculous.
