Tim Cahill has pretty much gone to NY Red Bulls. Sad to see him go, has been one of our best players over the 8 years he has played for us but he has definitely passed his peak based on the last couple of seasons. His 1million transfer fee and high-ish wages will help us sign Pienaar

In the space of a week my wife (1/2 Samoan) leaves and now Timmy. Is it me?

Love the new kit as well. I'll need to sort my banking out, get a credit card and buy it ASAP.

Its no longer a problem.

Pienaar

Great to have Pienaar back. Our great form second half last season coincided with his arrival on loan. We didn't realise how valuable he was until he left. 4.5 million is a lot for us to spend on a 30 year old. But Pienaar has proven his quality many times with us and I'm sure he'll continue his run of form.

The team is shaping up nicely now. I'd say as long as we keep onto our best players now bar a really high offer, we can do well next season. Back up for fullback positions would be good and potentially a right wing/striker depending on where Naismith plays

He'll only shine if we keep Leighton Baines he goes we're fucked, simple. our only attacking option is down the left with them two that's why our 2nd half of the season kicked off. oh, and jelavic smashing the ball in the net had a hand in it too.  i can see us playing two up front more this season looking forward to it

Hibbert scores and Everton riot. Awsome. 4-1 win in his testimonial v AEK Athens and he scores the 4th with a decent free kick. First ever senior goal for Everton on over 300 games.

Club legend.

Its no longer a problem.

Some way to break your scoring duck! Especially on his testimonial match. Here is a link to the goal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nmz7TnV8Ptc

Naismith also netted a hattrick which is a promising sign

We have accepted a bid from Man City for Jack Rodwell, thought to be around 15 mil. Good deal for us considering how often he has been out injured and the fact that we could really use the cash.

And hopefully we keep Baines now too

too good a deal to pass up really

Apparently Everton are now in pole position to sign Adam Johnson on loan after Manchester City has given them 1st choice of the winger due to the quick and painless transfer of Jack Rodwell between the two clubs.

Would be a great edition to the team IMO, I've always been a fan of Adam Johnson and the few games he played last year he looked decent!

Looks like Everton are now set to comfirm a $5.6 million bid for Olympiakos winger Kevin Mirallas after funds were made avaliable after the sale of Jack Rodwell for $15 million.

Knew of him from his time at Lille where he was a bit of a flop. Looks decent though, top scorer of the 2011-12 Super Greece season, as a winger with 20 goals.

0-0 at half time, been an exciting game, De Gea's bee class though. IMO Evertons been dominating United though!

Fantastic win, great to start the season with a win, especially against United. Fellaini was immense, seemed to win every ball. Jagielka, Distin, Hibbert and Osman also very impressive

I've always loved Fellaini, since the first day he put on the Everton jersey and this game confirmed it!

Who needs Rodwell when you have Fellaini on form like that!

I honestly think we can do what Spurs did a few seasons ago and Newcastle did last season and challenge the 4th and 5th positions. We have shown that we can beat any team on the day

All we need is just one or two more players for depth then we are set.

Liverpool, Spurs and Newcastle have the distraction of Europe now so hopefully that can work in our favour.

What a game! Jelavic's and Pienaar's goals were World Class!

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I was disappointed we couldn't score a fourth (or even a fifth), and we couldn't keep a clean sheet. Villa were on the ropes, and we let them back in. Next couple of games will be testing - Swansea away in particular.

Very good performance and some great goals to go with it. I agree with Kiwi Pie, it did actually feel almost disappointing not to get a fourth with Distin hitting the bar and Mirallas being disallowed.
It feels good though to have 2 wins already, an unusual feeling for us Evertonians!
West Brom away and Newcastle at home are the next 2 upcoming games so lets hope we carry our form on!

Impressive 5-0 win in the league cup against Leyton Orient. Mirallas marks his first start for us by bagging 2 goals. If he can transfer this to the premier league, we will be free scoring
