Wonder who will step up and become manager? Will they go with an Englishman this time?

Will the hire an interim manager until after Euro?

Also, reckon this decision would have been made today if the Redknapp jury was still out?

This. Certainty.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Reality is Arry was the last English born Manager to win a major trophy and it is a struggle to think of anyone before him? Howard Kendall??

I can't see 'Arry quitting Spurs at this stage of the season though. Would both employers allow him to hold both jobs at once a la Ricki? Just until the end of the premier league season of course

Apparently Stuart Pearce is taking over for the next match at least

So "Arry not cleared yet then? (sorry not up to speed on this).

If he does get cleared in time for the Euros  then it will be him, even though he'd be a mug to jump from Spurs at the mo.

What other Englishman is out there? Who fits this citieria?

a) British, (guess the FA can get away them not being John Bull 100% English).
b) reasonably successful
c) Not a criminal
d) Good with the press
e) Respected by players
f) able to handle big egos (twats)
g) can play something other than 442.

I mean it's not looking good is it? Give it to Ian Holloway or Neil Warnock for comedy value.

I would have said Anfield Cat, but apparantly he reckons he start Heskey if he's picked.

Managing England is not worth it. None of the players seem to care, there's so much presure from the press and public, and realistically the quality of English players is not good enough to compete with the likes of Spain or Germany, yet people expect them to.

I'll play the guessing game though. How about Brendan Rodgers? Dunno if he's respected enough but he worked under Mourinho so he should be able to handle egotistical types

Can see this being used by English fans as an excuse for getting smashed at the Euros when they would have got smashed anyway.

Wrong.

Steve McLaren won the Eredivisie with Twente in 2010.

Three for me, and two for them.

The Guardian has David Moyes as a dark horse.  British (but not English), successful (if a bit of a bridesmaid), not known for anything more criminal than backing the Labour Party, highly respected, and not tied up in Big 4/3/6 politics (except by tweaking Liverpool's nose).

Alan Shearer: "The England manager should be English, the Scotland manager should be Scottish, and likewise with Wales, Ireland and everyone else (except oz where it has to be either dutchies or krauts).

"If that is the case then an Englishman will come in and have a dossier on all the players anyway and know most players inside out."

Ricki is the first Kiwi to be AW coach.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Alan Shearer's managerial record reads: 1 win, 2 draws, 5 defeats.  At a club that he should have known "inside out".  While I don't necessarily disagree with that position, his testimony should be dismissed - or read as evidence against it.
