my football team have been doing a quiz for most of the season, the winner gets a voucher for a sports shop.

we have been given a "who am i" question each week

i am now up to the last question, it is

"from the previous last nine anwsers, what do all those players have in common"

those players are:
ben foster

john terry

richard wilson

Patrick veira

nicky butt

tony adams

micheal owen

peter shilton

kevin keggan

so does anyone know what they all have in common?

Very odd question, simply because Richard Wilson's in there.  All of the others have played in the Premiership (or equivalent) so there's probably a link with their previous clubs or something like that.  Having Wilson in there really complicates it though.

If there's a genuine answer - not a stupid one like, "They've all played football" then it's a cracking question.

Maybe it's something about their international debut?

Thay all have both first and second names spelt withoutthe use of Capital letters. Except for Patrick veira, who's surname has no capitals, but is spelt wrong.

Gorden Bennett, Ben Foster has also played for Stoke, I didn't know that bit of trivia, I sense a coming together of the force to resolve this question

I was going to say they have all been in teams that have lost to spain or in spain but that bloody wilson never even got a game   edit: unless you count subs?

 Everyone has lost against Spain

apart from shilton who drew against them, but ultimately lost in 1982 Does anyone know if he was the sub in the 1981 friendly against Spain that Clemance played as GK?

and Wilson did he ever get a game in Spain 1982? edit: ahh he was on the subs bench does that count?

They have all been in teams/squads that have lost against or played and lost in Spain.

There you go I win what do I get then?

What was the question that had his name for an answer.

Nah mate I was only kidding if it is the right answer, (that's a bloody big if), then you keep whatever you win. Just helping out a fellow feverite

I've just edited my answer so it makes more sense.

The wife was what the f*ck does that mean?

I suspect it is something more personal.

Possibly they are all teetotal.  Now, that is, because there is a bit of trouble in the past amongst some of them.

Either that or something like being a twin, having a mother named Vera (Vera Viera has a ring to it) or no mother at all.

Haven't the time to follow up on those suggestions.

Cheers

I know, I know, its serious!

Hahaha you mad bugger you!! !

could be right though

shilton I thought had an episode with alcohol, or something dodgy a sex scandel?

I got to go to sleep that is priceless Vera! (please be right it's such a great answer)

I don't think you are far off the mark with Spain.  For most of them, Spain has been a major career moment.  Either England debut (Foster), last game (Butt), first goal, played there (Owen), dropped (Wilson), retired there (Keegan).  Can't find any link to Terry and Viera though.

Erm, they've all got dodgy knees? Missed major tournaments after playing in the last qualifier?  Appeared in court for something? I'm getting desperate.

Ben Foster doesn't help either - as having looked the list he's the one who stops any link based on full  international status

are they all left footed ?

foster has an international cap according to wikipedia... so there could be something there.

Did foster ever captain any games for any of the clubs he played for?

If so, it could be that they all captained a club at least once because i believe the rest of them have...

If it's just that they've all been captains, that's pretty lame.  It's almost as bad as, "They're all footballers".

I hope the answer to this is something better than that.
