Looks as though Halifax Town are no more...liquidation seems inevitable with consortia owning the club disappearing and the supporters trust in disarray....likely to be a phoenix club in due course but starting three divisions lower.

They owe a ridiculous amount of money and should be closed down for being so irresponsible. And they probably will be.
But they will, as you say, rise again, probably as Halifax Town (2008) with a clean banksheet. Is this right? Should clubs be able to sh*t all over their creditors and come back stronger (check out Aldershots's return to the leagues)?

Fair enough point that they owe money and have been irresponsible, but if it's the Board who've been irresponsible, why should the supporters be punished?

I support a club who aren't in the best financial shape, purely due to the ineptitude of our Board. I'd hate to think that people would be saying that we deserve to die because a group of idiots in the Boardroom have screwed our club.

I went to a Halifax game years ago. It was horrible!

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Perhaps PTV welshing on their 17 year sponsorship deal started in 2001 and ended in 2004 might have had something to do with it? Lower league clubs were stuffed when those prats pulled that stunt. And now with TV in Football, the richer clubs get even richer and the rest go into administration  or fold. Good to see the EPL clubs looking after the clubs that supply some damn good players only to be poached by the very rich ones.

I also think clubs should not be allowed to be owned/controlled by property speculators either. Grounds get sold at a cheap rate and then the club is run down and you end up like MK Dons!

Halifax now left out of all leagues by FA so looks like a dead duck along with Edgware Town! Four teams relegations saved as a result including Slough Town whose recovery is assisted by remaining up. Also Altringham who for the second time avoid relegation when another team had problems (last time it was Boston United).

if you were an Altringham fan, you might be advised to go out and buy a lotto ticket (or the british equivalent)

could be a good chant

A sad day when clubs fold. Ok a lot is through mismanagement off the feild and trying to buy success without the real capital to. But perhaps if every professional club were all given equal amounts of the TV pie, maybe some of these clubs would do better. But until they change this attitude where the richest clubs get the largest amounts, more clubs will struggle and fold. Luton are not looking too healthy and they just got done 10 points for next season too!

Mayhem in non league circles. Added to the known problems of Edgware and Halifax now we have Cambridge City, Nuneaton Borough and Boston United all expelled from Blue Square Conference leagues for financial problems!

At this stage all three have been relegated two divisions. this also a number of other teams who remain unsure which leagues they will be playing in. Player recruitment and pre season preparations are very difficult. I understand all Nuneaton and Bostons players on contracts will have them terminated!Mayhem

meanwhile the EPL keep their heads buried in the sand not wishing to help the lower league clubs. How? by allowing the TV pie to be shared more evenly, by investing in clubs that they could loan their youth or unused reserves to to help lift their standards, increase attendances. It's not their fault of course, after, they only negotiated to alienate Englands top clubs from the rest, with the exception of the league & FA Cups.
