Has Sam Allardyce lost the plot?!

First came this:

Sam Allardyce wrote:

"I'm not suited to Bolton or Blackburn, I would be more suited to Inter Milan or Real Madrid. It wouldn't be a problem for me to go and manage those clubs because I would win the double or the league every time.

"Give me Manchester United or Chelsea and I would do the same. It wouldn't be a problem.

"It's not where I'm suited to - it's just where I've been for most of the time. It's not a problem to take me into the higher reaches of the Champions League or Premier League and would make my job a lot easier in winning it."
Then came this:
"When I say what I think there are people who say "Oh, it's only antiquated Sam Allardyce", and all kinds of b******* like that. There is a problem with perception.

"Arsene is seen as a sophisticated Frenchman while I'm just a rugged English centre-half from the Midlands with an accent to match, but is Arsene more advanced than me in terms of coaching? Not a chance.

I hope he is the next England manager. Arsenal2010-09-20 08:31:30

I like how he refers to himself in third person. Buffy would never do that.

Three for me, and two for them.

Neither would Jag!

Big Sam! Bless him. The man who signed El Hadji Diouf. Twice! I rest my case.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Haha he has done quite well at Blackburn though. As long as he doesn't drop our Ryan Nelsen then I haven't got anything against him.

Not quite the same. Bolton and Blackburn do not have the $ to get the players Wenger has, even on free transfers. And Big Sam has brought a lot of sport science to the game, which in his time with Bolton showed in his ability to rejuvenate older players like Djorkaeff and Campo.

4 consecutive top ten finishes in his last 4 seasons at Bolton only achieved by the big 4 in that period, and a stint in Europe with Bolton.

I still think Wenger is better but Sam is not that bad.

Wenger has taken Arsenal to 10+ consecutive CL knockout rounds, and has never finished outside the top 4 in his time at Arsenal. And Wenger breeds talent, rather than trying to get another year out of some boring old fossil.

Fat Sam may of achieved a few good things in football, but he is nowhere near Wenger, not even close.

Three for me, and two for them.

Wenger does not exactly breed talent.

Arsenal's injury record in recent seasons has not been good, that might be a reflection on the clubs sport science department or Wenger getting good players for cheap as they have a history/reputation of being injury prone.

And this argument is a little silly, it's not like Wenger has had to work with a club in the lower division and get them promoted or Sam in a big club with large salary/transfer budget.

I suppose Big Sam isn't feeling the love or appreciation of what he has achieved.

So by your logic Sam is a better manager than Ferguson too?

Three for me, and two for them.

Be interesting to see how Wenger would do at Bolton, and vice versa. Absolutely no doubting Wenger's ability, and I love the way Arsenal play, but I don't think anybody could argue that it's a helluva lot easier to attract the talent that Wenger "breeds" to Arsenal than it would be to Bolton.

Allardyce did achieve a lot at Bolton with, relatively, few resources.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Sure, that is exactly what I said. Sam is the best manager in the whole world, ever. He is the combination of God, Muhammad, Buddha and Elvis. He invented football, even the Internet.

If only you would read what I said and not over react:
I still think Wenger is better but Sam is not that bad.

Actually if you look at what Wenger did at Monaco in France you will probably have to rethink your hypothesis. Its funny you mention Djorkaeff because Wenger signed him when he was 23 at Monaco, and also brought in players like Glenn Hoddle, George Weah and Jurgen Klinnsman. Wengers application of sport science is also well documented in keeping our famous back four playing the game much longer than even the players thought they would keep going.
Unlike Sam Allardyce, it was Wengers ability to produce results with limited means that gave him the opportunity to move to a bigger club. Sam hasn't moved anywhere but sideways.

Could argue that Monaco, the club he coached in Japan and Arsenal have all had fairly reasonable resources. Monaco weren't exactly skint at the time you mention.

He did very little at hs first club (? Nancy), who got relegated as far as I'm aware.

Funny this has turned into a "How good Arsene Wenger is" thread

Anyway. Carry on .....

Tbh, Fat Sam is a horrible man whose sides play horrible football. How anyone can like this gum-chewing, pie-eating fat bastard is beyond me. To compare him to Wenger is ludicrous. Probs my least favourite manager in the League (besides Mr Ferguson, of course!).

Gum chewing AND pie eating?

Don't think he was actually being directly compared to Wenger, to be honest.
