yep, zephyr, good to take the piss out of Delap and his cronies - fair enough too you can't have one rule for Stoke and another for the rest of the teams in the league

windass was also true to form - doing a plodder and getting a booking without getting on the park

i thought our goal was class, and that we were dominating in the ten mins before stoke's pen

good to  see PB go for the win - bring cousin on, and pushing players forward

reasonably happy with another point

Well fellas, I had no idea King was an aspiring Stan Collimore (see below for details)

Footballer held in assault probe

The Hull City striker is on loan from Wigan Athletic
A Premier League footballer has been arrested accused of assaulting a woman in a bar in central London.

Marlon King, 28, who plays for Hull City, was arrested on Wednesday when he voluntarily attended a police station after the incident on Sunday.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said a 20-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted at the Soho Revue Bar, in Brewer Street.

Mr King has been released on bail until February.

Hull City chairman Paul Duffen stressed Mr King had not been charged and said investigations were ongoing.

He said the situation would not impact his position with the club and he was training as normal.

Striker Mr King, who is on loan from Wigan Athletic, has played 15 times for Hull in the Premiership.

On Saturday he scored the winner in Hull's 2-1 home win over Middlesbrough.

If that had been at Old Trafford, United would have been given a last minute penalty. You guys really rattled the pool in that first 20. They didn't know what to do really. Good game to watch. Played at a zillion miles an hour.

I didn't realise that it was so long since I posted.
I am still in a state of shock.
After 3 losses and 3 draws I thought we may be tumbling but a win against Stoke and a draw against Liverpool after leading 2-0 was enough to maintain our position in the top 6.
With a little investment in the January window we can most certainly strengthen and consolidate our position in the English Premier League.
It is very encouraging to see the lads fighting tenaciously every week with 'bit-parts' going out to Nick and Deano but we are holding our own at this stage. We have missed Craig Fagan and whereas every single player is giving their all we do show our inexperience and lack of quality at times especially down both wings. Mendy, Cousins and Boateng appear to be well short of match fitness whilst  Hughes, Halmosi, Ashbee and Marney are running on empty at this level.
All credit to our tenacious back line, especially Turner and Zayette (who's lack of communication has cost us two goals) whilst Ricketts, Dawson and McShane have raised their game to a level previously thought unachievable.
Boaz is still pulling off those incredible saves but our lack of a pacy winger is restricting his distribution somewhat.
Geovanni has been a master accession and is more than comfortable at this level but with Marlon seemingly hell-bent on self destruction, Caleb still unable to get his left leg moving in the general direction of his right leg, Cousin well short of match fitness and Deano running on adrenalin only we are sadly lacking up front.
I will be surprised if there is not some quality investment next month, especially up front and in midfield.
What a season this has been!

agreed OT what a season so far!

only drew with stoke, but beat boro

disagree with your views on Ash - he's doing fine

but yeh mendy's lack of a decent pre-season has cost him a bit  but he certainly can shift himself over the first 10 yards, not sure why cousin is lacking a bit  of fitness ( he's clever in the air  though!), i think Marney might do alright a this level

agree that we have turned out a good back four on most occasions

King has done himself proud on the park, if he doesn't end up back behind bars he'll be worth buying

jan buys - yep a striker would be good and possibly a central mid  -if Boateng continues to struggle to see out the 90 -  i  do think tho , that the Boat has led by example and his experience is a hell of a bonus for us

impressed by barmby v liverpool

regardless of any concerns re individuals - we have certainly fronted as a team!! (take a bow Mr. P. Brown )

nice quote from the Sunderland Echo, nice quote from the Sunderland Echo

>> But even if they have the mother of all slumps provided they finish no lower than fourth bottom in May - Hull City fans will still be hugging themselves in disbelief at the end of the campaign and looking forward to another season in the top flight.

Isn't it always the way?You wait 104 years for a season in the top flight and then two come along at once. <<

Enjoy Citeh vs Hull this afternoon, Robinho had a field day and Phil Brown kept up Hulls headline moments with his halftime chat

I think Hulls performance was sumed up well at the end when McShane tried to flip back onto his feet infront of the Citeh fans after trippin on the ball

said to my wife at the 80 min mark that Villa were waking up (after we'd dominated the second 1/2, following a flat first half)

possible that bringing hughes on for barmby allowed villa to push up a bit

feel awful - a swim (drowning optional) might help

still at least it was a better performance than v man citeh

Nothing wrong with the disallowed goal - oh when is the 'TV Referee' coming in!
Our weaknesses were shown however although we deserved all three points. We have nobody capable of creating scoring chances. Great credit to the lads for 100% effort but at this level more is required.
Defence is capable but we are out of depth in midfield. Halmosi, Hughes, Garcia and Ashbee are not capable at this level. Cousins and King are both easily held.
See what the January transfer window opens up for us.

hopefully we will bring in a bit of creativity (a left winger would be a start)

Geo gives us a bit of spark, when he's selected, and mendy is coming on well - when used in midfield

seemed like PB was wanting to protect the defence from villa's pace  - hence a more defensive midfield

i'll be happy if we can pick up some new faces, including cover for centreback - as gardner looks unlikely to spend much time on the park

with the midfield PB selected and the fact that cousin was replaced by king, i/m not surprised that neither of them shone - they'll do, but again we need cover (windass seems unlikley to take the EPL by storm)

We are mortally wounded with only a packet of band-aids to survive. The party is over and we have to look at the January Transefer window for some quality.
We have done well but now have to face reality.
King and Cousins are not the answer to our problems up front.
Halmosi and Garcia are way below the quality needed at this level.
Our Financial Infrastructure is such that we have to rely on the 'left-overs'.
Will be interesting to see who we bring in this month.

As john cleese's Black Night said in Monty Python and the Holy Grail  - "it's just a scratch"

so the band aids should work just fine

more realistically, we will need to grind out a bit of form or we may find ourselves struggling at  the business end

certainly a signing or two wouldn't go amiss - rumours of Pennant (doubt we could afford his wage demands), dacourt (with inter milan currenlty, i think)

participating inthe West Ham fire (and ice) sale might be worthwhile

hopefully sunderland won't nab McShane back

i doubt we can compete with them,

on the City board there was a brief flurry about signing Joey barton. most fans  (me too) were against but one cynic said that we'd all happily sign Jack the Ripper if we thought he'd keep us up

if we sort the geordies out at St Jame's then we'll have crewe or millwall at the KC

but fun though that might be, perhaps we'd be better off with fewer matches and remaining completely focussed on staying in mid-table (or just up)

hell, the slump needs to be addressed  - can't see arsenal lying down again - perhaps our clashes with west ham and west brom might see us turn things back around

POST 1000 :-)Thought I'd use it in a decent thread.
Word is Kevin Kilbane and Luis Boa Morte are on the short list for this weekend signings. Hopefully we'll pick up enough points to stay safe. Not too optimistic though. Our form has dropped off and we are losing close games rather than pinching a point or a win. I just hope West Brom and the other teams who will struggle don't collect too many points. Games v them will be vital for survival.
Its going to be a tough end to the season will City fighting to survive and Everton fighting for top 6 (maybe top 4) for European qualification.

Well I'm not convinced with all these recent rumoured signings at all.
McShane has returned to Sunderland.
Boa Morte is having second thoughts as the money ain't good enough.
I cannot see us offering Marlon King a contract on the 30,000 quid he is reported to be on.
The 'Boat' does not have a body that can sustain the rigours of intensive training at this level.
We have officially signed nobody.
My personal opinion is that it is all Window Dressing in an effort to portray the Club as a solvent Premier League outfit for prospective buyers who own camel trains and chauffeur driven extra long limo's.
The Paul Duffen led consortium has spent absolutely nothing on Hull City Football Club and appear to be in 'damage control' following the current world financial crisis. They have no money to spend and before anyone mentions the failed West Ham 60 million quid take-over I would remind you that this was based on using The Boleyn Ground (which West Ham own) as collateral and NOT their own money. Adam Pearson, from whom the Duffen led consortium bought Hull City, had to reportedly threaten Court action to obtain his money. Their purse is full of moths and will remain firmly shut.
With the contracts of Ashbee, Barmby, Bridges, Stelios, France, Ricketts, Welsh and Windass coming up for renewal in June this year I feel that only Ricketts will be offered a new contract and perhaps Ashbee a much lesser one (which I believe he will turn down) freeing another 20-30,000 quid in wages and making the Club look an even better proposition.
Whereas the KC Stadium is relatively new and open for expansion it is not owned by the Club and a new consortium would not buy into a Club to make other money for other people. Would the Council sell the stadium?
