It's hard to criticise Phil as he had over 20 'quality' players say "Thanks, but No Thanks"! including, Beattie, Davies, Owen, Campbell, Fortune, Nolan, Scotland, Greening, Murphy, McCormack, Ledley, Harewood, Young, Zamora, Voronin, Hinkel, Beye and Negredo.
So what was Phil supposed to do?
He bought the best players who were available like Hunt, Altidore, Ghilas and Vinnegoor of Hesselink who, at best, were mere CCC players.
I thought Phil would have walked before now as he is in an untenable position and can do nothing about it but he is not the sort of bloke who would desert a sinking ship. I think, however, that he will find a compromise and get out before it is too late.

It has been announced that Paul Duffen has resigned as Chairman.
The new Chairman will be announced after the game on Saturday.
The decision does not affect Phil Browns position (so he said).

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/brown-given-one-match-to-avoid-the-sack-at-hull-1811545.html

The manager's future at the struggling club was a subject the man himself was reluctant to discuss yesterday, instead preferring to deal with on-field matters but it looks increasingly like the match at Turf Moor will be his last in charge. Adam Pearson is due to return as chairman on Monday after Paul Duffen stood down yesterday and his first job is set to be the removal of Brown, in the belief the manager has taken the club as far as he can. Duffen, walked away from Hull City at the request of Russell Bartlett, the club's owner.

future is, like all futures, uncertain

Pearson seems well respected in the game and did well for  the club last time he was 'in charge'

Paul Jewell favourite for manager's job - he's no fool and does offer more than some of the other names touted

Bullard's (constant) injury might be the key

Hopefully Pearson can bring some investment money into the club

That's about all we can hope for because he most certainly will not be bringing in any 'quality' players.

Pearson to act to solve wage blow-out

but either way, I think PB's probably about to depart

It was a penalty. Stephen Hunt was all over the bloke and is one of those players who can't keep his hands off an opponent.
Geo's sending off was all wrong though.

Perfectly good free kick - should have stood, but, as the commentators said "When you're down you're down, and nothing goes right"!
McShane threw his toys out of his pram when he was subbed, didn't he!
Duke was impressive for mine but apart from that we haven't anyone who is close to the standard required at this level.
What a mess they have gotten us into. It will take all of Adam Pearson's entrepreneurial skills to get us out. It appears that the figure is nearer 19 million but still too much.
The players will have to take a cut or the club goes under and they get nothing. Not much of an option really.

apparently there are question marks around the accounting for Turner's transfer    the whole thing seemed dodgy at the time

He has used up all his options. He should have walked when Paul Duffen was given the @rse and possibly retained some amount of dignity but he has no option now but to fall on his sword or get the chop.

He has to be the sacrificial lamb now but the hard fact is that no footballer capable of performing at this level was willing to join Hull City and that was through no fault of Phil's. He may have had his faults and the Manchester City half-time debacle that will haunt him throughout his career but how quickly we forget that he took hold of us when we were in danger of losing our CCC status and took us to the 'Promised Land' of EPL football.

You can't make a silk purse out of a pig's ear and if we avoid relegation with the players we have at the moment I will personally stand on one leg outside Flinders Street Railway Station, in the nude, and f@rt the Australian National Anthem.

if the media suggestions that we accepted 4 measly million for Turner a true, then i'm really pissed off

how did we allow ourselves to get in the position of having to give away one of our best hopes of staying up for 4 poxy mill - because it was a 'cash' payment

Pearson looks like he will have a lot of work to do to help the club spiralling down in  a Leeds/Bradford manner

the fact that we've been used ot the cellar regions for so long doesn't exactly help

not sure if i want us to lose on Sunday so Brown will get tossed out or if i want us to win and limp on to January in the hope we can shift some players out and get better options in and see if Brown can get some results

Yeah, that took McShanes move into the equation.
We have had a shocking season so far which we should have taken some advantage of by backing "Shocking" in the Melbourne Cup, ridden by Brown and wearing Black and Amber colours!

On the lighter side, let me inform you that Jozy Altidore is no longer a teenager having celebrated his 20th birthday yesterday whilst Jan Vinnegoor of Hesselink and myself celebrated our birthday's today. Jan turned 31 whilst I myself am a little older at 71.

Neil came later after the Hull City board thought that any old ex-England international could 'do a Carter' and lift the Clubs prospects. We got Wilf Mannion for 39,000 quid and 39,000 fans packed into Boothferry Park to see him. Stan Mortenson, Sir Stanley's partner at Blackpool, also joined us but none of them did anywhere near what Carter did.
Billy Bly had a 'Goal booth' at the local Hull Fair where you would pay a tanner (sixpence) to have a go at beating him. Vigo Jensen, when he came to Hull City, did not qualify to be paid under the 'two year residence' law so 'officially' Hull City were not allowed to pay him. Undaunted, Vigo set up a stall outside Boothferry Park where he sold his own brand of sausages and would hand this over just before kick-off. Couldn't see anyone doing that these days.

Bullard is city's version of Ifill

great to have him play 90 minutes

Pearson looked pissed of  at the end - makes it harder for him to sack Brown

Those points might just see a turn around so we can scrape suvival - lots of water still to flow etc etc

Definitely the Man-of-the-Match and what has been decidedly lacking in our game. Gave us direction in the midfield and showed the likes of Marney just what it is all about and how it is done. I know Richard Garcia has also has a long lay-off but he appeared to be well out of his depth at this level but gave it his all. He would have a huge impact in the Australian A-League with Adelaide already reported to have made enquiries about him. Cannot see Marney coming back into the team after Jimmy's performance and whereas I think Mendy is over-the-hill he seemed to shine better than McShane.
What part will Geo play when he returns?
Has Phil discovered a formation and tactics that will continue to work?
I don't know if Hughes has been injured nut he played no part in Derby's win during the week which leaves his move up in the air.
Folan still out at Boro.
Cannot see us off-loading much in January either.
We remain hopeful that there are three teams worse than us but I am not too confident.

Olo is out for us along with Mendy and possibly Bo Myhill

at this stage of the season I wouldn't be distraught if get a point (3 would put a spring in my step)

I wonder what a psychologist would make of Toffeeman's attempts to 'find' the right emotion during the 90 mins?

I'll keep quiet until after the game and then gloat that I won (either way) or be happy with a point . Feeling VERY conflicted right now.
