Until about 1995, Chelsea were getting around 8-9,000. Seems like 31,000 glory hunters have rediscovered the blues
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

That was always the thing with Chelsea - 40,000 one week for a big game and 10,000 the next when we played Cambridge or some other lower league glamour team.  Sound familiar? Even in those bad old days we always had the biggest away support outside the top flight.  It's amazing how your support changes when you become successful - but that's football.  After a couple of A-League titles we'll be complaining about the glory hunters and pining for the days of 8,000!!!

Yeah, but we're rich title and trophy winning sh*t.  Go back down to the championship where you belong and should be anyway.

haha you guys are terrible, Money can't buy u success, and u know it

isnt it an interesting coincidence when u buy shevschenko and Ballack for ridiculus sums of Money, u lose the league easily? all the while turning previously one of the worlds most prominent strikers to sh*t?  and all the talk now is u want to buy Ronalinho, and that'll get u soo far eh

Sorry Sir Trev but you're picking on the wrong guy.  I was one of the loyal 8,000.  The point I was making was that even in those days, Chelsea still had the ability to fill SB with 50,000 for big games.  If Upton Park hadn't been such a sh*t hole you may have had the same level of support given you have a similar sized catchment area with little competition.  Chelsea were always a big club waiting to happen but without the silverware to back it up.  Now that's all changed so of course the fan demographic has changed too.  The same happens with any club suddenly becoming successful.

Frankly I'm bored of the EPL and all the egos and money.  Still Chelsea through and through, but I suspect if I was back home I would be watching non-league these days.  And that's why I appreciate what we have with the Phoenix.  Suffice to say I would much rather watch Perth v Queensland than Blackburn v Derby any day.

Merry Xmas to everyone in Hammerland - keep dreaming.

Sam Allardyce rightly described Chelseas winning goal in their 2-1 victory over Newcastle as a clear offside. The TV replays of the goal showed Kalou to be at least 3 yards offside, and it was a little unbelievable the goal was allowed to stand by the officials.

Same old same old!!!

swings and roundabouts uiron, we're had our share count against as well.

I just watched the goal this morning, yup was well off, but we'll take it. Perhaps the linesman was thinking about his aftermatch pint.

I'm not gonna argue on this one!  An embarrassingly bad decision by the officials - not even a close call.  Me thinks the lino had nodded off.  My sympathies to any Newcastle fans.  You were genuinely hard done by.

Why bring this back up? What does it achieve?

Three for me, and two for them.
