New Avatar Kop!
I was thinking about the Joe Cole transfer and was wondering. What do you think Stevie G and Carragher would have said to him to sell the Pool at the World Cup? No Champs League, no idea what it would be like working under Roy (or if Roy was even around when they were talking). It lead me to think without being a typical Liverpool fan. Do we have better support than other clubs? Or do our fans support our players differently/better than other clubs. keen on your thoughts.

Joe Cole first interview

Also confirmed he's wearing the #10 and Jova has Alonso's #14. They've just updated the online store.

Guess the #7 stays in the locker.

TBH, the last few years the #7 been a bit of a poison chalice so maybe noone's keen. Either that or you could take the view that the last few wearers have tarnished its reputation so it's staying in the locker till we get someone worthy of it.

Agreed. We need to keep our eyes open for another 5ft nothing Scot with talent to burn. Shame Wilson's so tall... and a back...

I don't think Rafa would have gambled on a player with flair. he was much more conservative with his signings

Aquilani? Jova? Garcia? etc etc etc. Look, I know Rafa's gone and all that, but please don't say stupid sh*t like that.

??? No way mate, I think that Rafa was to conservative with his teams. Aquilani never played, Garcia left. Never plays Babel. Yossi on and off.

Yeah, but you said he wouldn't have taken the gamble of buying him? Which is completely different.

Well I still don't think he would have................on another note I am well stoked with ROy. I feel like he is really keen to get the club moving forward.

Linked with Wayne Bridge now that we need a left back.

Would be great purely for the Chelsea clashes this season. Yossi, Cole, Bridge, Terry and the usual good bantered bad blood.

Yep, tears of joy over Reira and tears of disappointment for Degen. I thought the kid showed some promise.

Europa News

Liverpool will face FK Rabotnicki in the third qualifying round of the Europa League after the Macedonian side saw off FC Mika on Thursday afternoon.

Rabotnicki claimed a goalless draw in Yerevan to protect their 1-0 first-leg lead and set up a meeting with the Reds.

Liverpool have confirmed the first leg of the tie will be contested in Macedonia on Thursday, July 29.

The return leg will take place at Anfield on Thursday, August 5.

What's Insua doing training at Melwood two days ago? Shouldn't he be in Italy?

Dani Pacheco is had a great game scoring twice against Portugal for Spain U19s. Video here

Also, been news circulating that AC Milan are willing to trade Huntelaar for Babel, a highly rated Dutch bust trade who is still young enough to turn into a good player.

Any chance of this being shown on ESPN?

The Huntelaar rumours are interesting. I'd trade for Babel...

As for the Europa game, not sure if it's on ESPN. Better chance of watching a stream online. There should be a few links available.

We wont trade Hunt for Babel unless your sending some money our way. We already rejected 18m euros from Fenerbahce and Babel isnt worth 18m. Plus we are trying to sell Hunterlaar to fund the move for Dzeko so this swap doesn't seem likely

I love Pacheco. Class act.

Never liked Degen- at all. Played more like a forward than a back! Thats not to say I'm glad to see him go though.

Dissapointed about riera he looked really good at times. But after what happened with rafa he's very free to go!
On another note how much say is Roy having oversignings and selling? It almost seems like he dosent have and input.

Another relatively disappointing result this morn a loss to Kaiserslauten 1-0, after a stale-mate against Grasshoppers, but it's preseason and players are still not yet playing since the World Cup.

Interesting that Lucas has been captaining, I really wish he would put together an amazing season *touch wood*, he's taken too much stick for no real reason.

First real match of the season coming up, FK Rabotnički in Europa League qualifying. Macedonian team, has a few Brazilians I've never heard of. Game won't be on ESPN as X Games are on the same time (I think Friday morning right?)

Meh, its a mix of ressies and youngsters. Pretty disappointing all the same, but trying not to read too much into it. Yeah, I really like Lucas and hope that he can really step up- particularly if we get rid of Masch.

Yeah, Riera can go. Prick. On a side note, imagine if those Greeks signed Messi or someone...!

Not too fussed on pre-season games. Especially when 90% of the team are the youngsters and reserves. The Macedonians will be the first real test and it'll be interesting who Roy will pick (or is allowed to play) There should be a stream available to watch the game too.

Hodgson told the News of the World: "Unfortunately, I cannot do much more. His beef is with the club and not me. Fernando's situation has nothing to do with me, he made that perfectly clear over the phone during the World Cup and when I met him face-to-face.

"He knows what I would like to do with the club. He knows how much I value him. But his issues are with what has gone on in the past rather than the future. If he has problems with the club for things in the past, it is difficult for me to dismiss that.

"People forget he is a Liverpool player. One year ago he signed a four-year contract. I hope he will commit himself by honouring his contract."

At first glance I thought this was pretty troubling. On reflection I don't believe Torres will leave. I think he loves the club too much to just walk out. I do believe that he's probably had the balls to stand up to Purslime, Hicks and Gillet and maybe called them into account for their broken promises. I suspect he wants to know exactly what is happening with club, potential buyers, dates etc.

Reports circulating that Drenthe is joining, but so far relatively shaky sources goal, espn star and facebook.

So we could have a left back that once showed promise, but has not lived up to it, in fact he has been Babel-esque in Madrid. Also they are mates and made a rap single together.

Not capped at full level, which is worrying with the amount of 'quality' sidebacks the Netherlands have  played in the last few years, eg. Braafeid, Kromkamp.

Looks like Masch has been given the green light to go:
https://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=810345&sec=transfers&cc=3436

As disappointing as that is I can't say I'm overcome with sadness. Not like Alonso anyway. So now it comes down to Inter/Barca agreeing on a price which I imagine will be in the 25-30m range?

Will Roy get to spend it or will P,H&G give themselves a pat on the back bonus for putting up with LFC supporters over the last 6 months?
At any rate he's going to be hard t replace...

i remember watching him in the under 21 euros i think he was mean, player of tourny possible and then he signed for madrid right after which is a dumb move really, he's good on the ball can play on the wings as well i'd say

go gunners

Not sure if Barca is interested as Sergi Busquets has developed rather nicely and they have been focused almost solely on getting Fabregas.

But then we need a Mascherano replacement, I've read more rumours for Poulson from Juve but not keen on him.

Nice are waiting on a serious offer for Remy, who we have bid less than West Ham and tried to make up for it with a bid including Plessis and El Zhar.

Yeah looks like Insua will need to take a pay cut. Can't see that happening...

Masch confirms he wants out but Roy states he'll only leave if LFC get the right deal.

Roy also said that Nando is looking forward to getting back to training so that's some more good news.

And... Pacheco scored again last night in the U19. The kids on fire at the moment. Sounds like he may get loaned out for the season.

drenthe thing is rubbish

i like the kits other than the sponsor, although not touching any merch until the yanks are out

masch will go. any source for pacheco to loan out thekop, first i've heard of it. he is doing really well, that whole team is super talented

plessis and el zar not included in squad for europa league qualifier so likely they are under offer or being negotiated for as it's a very young listjames dean2010-07-28 09:44:16
