o please high horse? some of u guys sound like the morons who post on the bbc site...

for 1, Ronaldo barely ever dives anymore, i'll admit that the 1 this weekend was dodge, although there is still a case to say it was not a dive, i cant comment as i havent seen a decent replay for a few days

moving onto the supposed "dive" the week before, that was one of the worst decisions i have ever seen in the premiere league, along with booking Henrik Larsson for diving.
Why the fck would Ronaldo dive when he has beaten the keeper, and is on a hatrick? anyone with common sense can tell he didnt dive, and anyone with eyes can tell there was contact on Ronaldos boots mid air from Niemi, and u cant tell me that if ur running at Ronaldo's pace and u get clipped mid air ur not gonna go tumbling, a shocking decision made on an outdated reputation.

Ronaldo has ammendd this 'reputation' over the last 2 years, and anyone ontinueing to bag him should just get over it. Maybe he was proving a point last week. but who cares, it was 3-1, make a song and dace when we win the champions league and sum1 does it

Rumour has it the Olympic committee are looking to Man United to teach their swimming team the finer points in the hope of increasing their chances of Olympic Gold. One guess which section!!

Seriously, no smoke without fire and even the most die-hard Man U fan have to admit their players go down quicker than a $2 hooker. Having said that Chelsea and Arsenal are not innocent nor are Liverpool.

Sorry Muso, Ronaldo has clearly not 'amended' his reputation for cheating at all. I'll get over it the day cheats like that stop performing their party tricks. Have a word to Sir Alex if you would be so kind.

I've said it before on the forum (in reference to certain others in the A-League) nobody hates anything more than a blatant cheat in football, and it ought to be stamped out. It has no place in the world game. Do you agree with that, or are you happy to accept it as part of the game?

yes i will agree with you in that ronaldo in the PAST was a diver. But that call when he was on his hatrick and niemi took him down was utter bullsh*t. This is the modern game of football players are going to do anything to win.. all teams dive and your just going to have to get over it you .

o please again get off your high horse, i'll admit Ronaldo dived in the last game, and if u think e dived vs niemi then u need glasses my friend, but show me when he as dived otherwise in the last 2 years since the world cup, Ronaldo has to a large extent matured

now on to your next part, again i'll try and not get angry as u seem to be, but ur insinuation is fcken offensive, ye si agree that cheaters should be stamped out of football, anyone who doesnt is kidding themselves, but i do not believe Ronaldo to be a cheat, so get the fck overit.

Lone, i respect your opinion so i'll ask, who do u think dives at Man U apart from the obvious reptutation the Ronaldo has, and possibly Nani, although i'm not sure.

Rooney, Tevez, Sahar of the current squad. Van Nistleroy was the diver supreme. In fact, I think Ronaldo got his coaching from him. It is so sad that such immense talents as Ronaldo and Rooney have to resort to that sort of game. They definately don't do themselves any favours for when they really do get tackled/hacked down you wonder was it a dive or was it real.

Any answer to my question? When was the last time a visiting team to Old Trafford received a penalty.

Eh? since when have Rooney or Tevez dived? they are the kind of players that u see trying as hard as they can to keep going.. when has Rooney ever dived?

and as for the penalty thing, then i would say your right, i'm not a single-eyed fan, and i accept that referee's are intimidated by Man U and old trafford.
However saying that it does not excuse BS like that decision against ronaldo giving him a yellow the week before, sure Opposition teams find it hard to get penalties, but when a penatly is due, and a booking the other way, it should be given.

Rooney dives. Shame because sometime when he gets genuinely hacked - away from Old Trafford, the referees don't want to know and he gobs off at them and gets a Yellow for his efforts.

In most cases of Man U players diving, they have been touched, generally enough to make them stumble, but they just fall over instead.

And you can't say that when people manage to jump over a slide tacklers legs then  fall over it's diving, they could've just ran into the lags and fallen over.

Yes they could have but by jumping over the tackle they could also have carried on running after landing too. It has been known to be done. Easier to get the free kick or penalty I guess.... Lonegunmen2007-12-12 19:12:16

settle callum, one mindedness never gets you anywhere..just arguements

and lone, yes it is all well to keep running after jumping a tackler, but not when the tackler makes contact mid air with your legs, then its a miracle if you dont go tumbling

Callum, have you not watched any of those clips nor read any of my messages on this subject???? I don't think so. You might want to reread them if you think that I believe Man U are the only team to dive. Robben & Drogba are up there with the very best.

Decent 1-1 draw with Roma.  Nine changes from our team against Derby.  That's some display of strength in depth.

There was a lot of comment when Beckham, Van Nistleroy etc started leaving that United would struggle but despite Ferusson buying the odd big name player, his youth and reserve system has continued to produce some excellent young talent. They almost sneek into the team without being noticed but they do the job. To that extent I admire their system and how it works. Lonegunmen2007-12-13 22:33:10

Disappointing to only win 1-0 at Anfield, it was a good chance to improve the goal difference considerably.  Never mind.  Carlos Tevez seems to be fitting in very nicely.

My eyes or did the goalkeeper actually put Tevez into an offside position when he scored? He seemed to get the ball when only a defender was in front of him.

Evans released on bail after party rape claim

Manchester United defender Jonny Evans has been released on bail after being questioned today over the alleged rape of a woman at the club's Christmas party, sources said.

The 19-year-old was arrested yesterday following the party at the Great John Street Hotel in Manchester. Greater Manchester Police were called to the hotel at 4.15am yesterday following reports that a 26-year-old woman had been raped. Evans has been bailed until February 23 pending further inquiries. A police spokeswoman said a man was arrested on suspicion of rape yesterday evening after presenting himself for questioning. A Manchester United spokeswoman declined to comment. Evans is a rising star at Manchester United, making three appearances this season. The defender spent last season on loan at Sunderland. He has played for Northern Ireland eight times but has not got a regular place in Manchester United's first team. The Great John Street Hotel is a boutique 'town house' hotel converted from a Victorian schoolhouse in the trendy Castlefield area of Manchester. The Manchester Evening News reported that the entire Manchester United first team - excluding Cristiano Ronaldo - attended the club's annual Christmas party. The players were reportedly entertained by burlesque dancers during their meal at the Manchester 235 Casino. They were also reported to have had a drink at the Old Grapes, a pub owned by former Coronation Street actress Liz Dawn. This morning, the Manchester United players arrived as normal at their Carrington training ground shortly after 9am. Evans was not among them.

Part of what annoys me is that the club's name is dragged into it too. I feel sorry for United and their fans. Matt Busby must be restless in his grave with this serious charge.

Cristiano got accused of it a year or two back I think but nothing ever came of it. We can only hope this is again some attention seeking from some crazy woman. Jonny seemed like a fairly well grounded guy as he got some pretty glowing reports from Roy Keane if I remember right.

new signing today-

United has reached agreement with Petro Athletico of Luanda to sign Mateus Alberto Contreiras Goncalves "Manucho."

The 24-year-old Angolan international striker, who has scored twice in 10 appearances for his country, has agreed personal terms and will join the Club in January on a 3-year agreement.  An application for a work permit will be made in due course.

He was top goalscorer in the last two seasons of the GiraBola, finishing with 16 goals for Petro Luanda in 2006 and 15 goals this year. Manucho will be part of the Angolan squad for the African Nations Cup in January.

Sir Alex Ferguson is delighted by the new arrival, saying: We have had Manucho here for a 3-week trial and have been impressed enough to offer him a 3-year contract.

"He is a tall, agile and quick forward and through contacts that Carlos [Queiroz] has was brought to our attention around six months ago.

And more good news with Van Der Sar signing on for next season
