Well this game can be summed up by McTominay kicking a ball with Gakpo 2m away who then ran into him, fell on him, and somehow McT gets carded.

But we've just lost control today and also I feel a little unlucky in the sense that we made chances before our abysmal defensive performance.

We've missed Eriksen since the idiot that is Andy Carrol decided to start scissoring our entire team.

Edit: this was posted at 3-0 lmao

Martinez got absolutely done by Antonio, but West Ham couldn’t capitalise. Today Salah just humiliated him.

I mean basically Nunes and Gakpo >> Martial and Weghorst. Liverpool have invested and rebuilt. And didn’t have to bring in Salah, Henderson or Van Dyke. Or the rest of the quality they have who’ve recently been at the top of the CL.

Ten Hag has papered over cracks by bringing in Sabizter and Weghorst who’ve performed well, but the difference in quality was there today.

Still though Ten Hag has shown himself as a guy who doesn’t go away. Will need to be a big reaction.

What an absolutely wild implosion over a very obvious hand ball.

Poor poor leadership from Marco Silva

I'm totally amazed at the ones online saying Man U bribed the ref and trying to justify Mitrovic shouldn't have had a red because a Man U play didn't get one previously for touching an AR.
Also loved one comment saying it was "hardly a handball"

Mitrovic deserved the red card as there is no excuse for man handling an official.
Fernandes also should have been sent off for man handling the AR in a previous game.

Regardless of whether Bruno should've been sent off, Mitrovic's actions were magnitudes worse. Arguing that it shouldn't have been a red is like saying, "he got a warning for going 110, so why am I getting a ticket for going 140?"

Also a tweet form Simon Stone:

Which is fairly astonishing.

And I get it, we should have a squad big enough to deal with it. But dealing with it would've been significantly easier if Eriksen, DvB, and Garnacho hadn't been injured in terrible tackles which weren't even carded while Casemiro gets two reds for the softest shark.

What a crazy game. I can empathise with Willian, in the heat of the moment it would be so hard not to let your hand drift. Mitrovic & Silva though, utterly disgraceful. Hopefully decent bans to set a healthy precedent.

Mitrovic will get a very long holiday. Bruno should have been sent off with a much lesser holiday. No excuse for man handling an official

Garnacho been injured? Pellestri too?
Very nice finish to complete dragging recent form around and make the game seem respectably won 2-0.

I think if you'd offered most United fans CL qualification & silverware this season they'd have been more than ok with that. Overall a pretty good first season for ten Hag, but also a lot of work still to do! The quality of the depth in the squad is probably still the largest issue to address but I can't say I'm optimistic given this ownership saga.

Yep, overall not a bad season.

I think we played alright in the final. On paper we actually created more xG than City. I'm not going to pretend we were the better team but it was a testy final and we put up a fight. City's goals were pretty average.

Anyone who thinks it isn't a penalty shall go and take a look what Shaw and Martinez were penalised for this season. Except Martinez's was from a deflection, and Shaw was in the jumping motion (Graelish still had his arm up after he landed!)

Number 1 target for me is a goalkeeper. De Gea is mentally weak and it permeates through the team - not just from the final but all season. The second we're in a sticky away situation our goalkeeper starts losing his marbles. Further, the second goal in the week happens because we have 10 players in the box trying to defend the cross, an obvious tactic since De Gea is going to be rooted on his line and refuse to come and claim anything.

Thoughts on signing Mount? I was totally against it when I first heard it but have certainly warmed up to the idea. Mount will likely take Eriksen's place and allow for some much needed rotation all round. The first time we've had a proper midfield with options since SAF imo.

From what I saw in the FA Cup final you need to let De Gea go and inject some fresh blood into midfield. Mount would be great for you guys in that sense.

Given where your squad is at, it does seem like you need to move on quality wise from guys like Fred & McTominay and upgrade legs on the likes of Erkison

Yeah I don't mind Mount as midfield depth, qualms about price & limited transfer budget though. Eriksen's legs werre exposed the back half of the season and he's not getting any younger. McTominay and Fred aren't going to push us over the top so some recruitment there is definitely still needed despite Casemiro being everything we've missed since Carrick & Scholes retired.

Goalkeeper is definitely necessary. I'd like another CB option should Maguire leave (and would also love to see what Postecoglu can get out of him at Spurs because there's definitely a player in there) & a striker almost goes without saying given Weghorst having had his go & Martial remaining broken. Other than those I'd say its about seeing who's available, fits the team & won't cost the earth.

It’s too exhausting. Two days ago Scott McTominany was the second coming of Haysus Kristoferson and Man Red were 3 points behind city. Before they get deported and relegated for their million infringements. And despite being trash.
Today 3-0 at home against Bournemouth and… well, look it’s unfair that they’ve cloned Solanke and that all the players were tired because they all started two days ago. Regulion looked okay going forward. Garnacho is a human person. Martial isn’t a CF.

Newcastle and Spurs in a similar place, injury hit and with players exhausted. Brighton to a lesser degree.

Oh, and it looks like Sir Jim isn’t the messiah, but a very naughty boy. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

I reckon 90% of our games this year have been decided (both for and against) by VAR... honestly it has left me exhausted with the sport. Coupled with the fact that we are a bit crap I've gone from watching almost every single game live for the last how ever many years to maybe watching one a month.

Calling us fair weather supports is a bit ridiculous though, we've been crap for years.

Tbh, 90% of games every week are decided by VAR. Difficult to decide whether it's incompetent or simply corrupt. Certainly getting more and more difficult to be fully invested emotionally when you know things are just going to end up being taken away from you in the most ludicrous fashion.

Really? I watched the Newcastle and Bournemouth games and did not notice the result being influenced by VAR incorrectly. Perhaps you can list some of the many games that you claim were taken away from you?

Turned the football on for the last 15 minutes of the Liverpool game and Michael Oliver decides the carrot up his arse must be a bit too loose and gives two yellow cards to Dalot for descent. Which he absolutely wouldn't do for anything for anyone else and certainly would never do for a Klopp or a Pep team.

Earlier in the game, Nunez shoulder charged, sarcastic clapped at the referee, then kicked the ball away. Three yellow card offenses and Oliver gave one.

This is exactly why I don't really bother with this league anymore.

I have returned from many years away from here, to say something that just needs to be said.
I want Ole back. We need Ole back.
I want him back and I want everyone who wanted him out to go and support another team.
Give him the structure and tools and support to get us back to being a Manchester United that we can recognise

I actually don't think i can do it. I am too bitter. But that from what i have seen, the episode has confirmed many things we as fans thought. And Ole is such a fan at heart.
For me, ever since ETH moved from 2 deeper mids with a 10, to 1 deeper mid and 2 10s, its been an absolute shambles. And it was already a tough watch before then

It's a really good but infuriating listen. Does shed some light on the club though. Ole told the club at two big opportunities to buy Haaland (when he was at Molde, and when was at Salzburg)  but what seems to be a total bureaucracy of a scouting department refused.

Talks about buying Ronaldo, he agreed to it but acknowledged it was ultimately the wrong decision. While he owned it I think he personally felt like he had to. He was on to something good before that.

But besides all the behind the scenes stuff, it's very obvious that we have a playing squad full of mentally weak players who lack character. I don't see any manager being able to change that.

Ole was changing that. Winning the number of games away from home, consistently beating city, the night in Paris, the style of play, was all very good indicators of that. Get him back at the wheel
