As much as I can't stand Jose, I am bloody glad that someone, finally, put Rooney in his place.

"It didn’t take Mourinho long to dilute Rooney’s significance at Old Trafford. “Maybe he is not a striker anymore, or a nine, but with me he will never be a six playing 50 metres from the goal,” United’s new manager said during his unveiling. “He will be a nine, a 10, a nine and a half, but not a six or eight. You can tell me his pass is amazing but my pass is amazing too without pressure.”

‘Pow!’ and ‘Thwack!’ are the appropriate noises to make; the biggest rival to Mourinho’s sovereignty had been belittled. It took three years for Rooney to perfect his status as the most powerful man at Old Trafford; it took Jose Mourinho 30 minutes to destroy his reign."

He'll be at Real. Using United to plump his wages.

I thought his comments aimed in Wenger's direction were the best part of the presser which was always going to be interesting. About time someone 'put him in his place' (seeing as though we're putting it that way). The irony is that even after ten years he is under f all pressure.

Fuck this stupid game

Your last paragraph is about the most stupid thing you have ever said.

You are saying that he was the most powerful man at United is laughable. Do you really think that the biggest club in the UK would allow anyone to be bigger than the club itself. Sure he may have had a lot of input but all you have come up with is the tripe that the media has written.   You should stick to b/s about your club.

Still held your scummy club to ransom over two contract extensions.

So the media say. Not fact.  Scummy club :)   The most successful club in England and will continue to be long after you are in the crate.

Only your opinion.    The complete cretin for me is a 20 something, supporting the Woolwich and Birko, hiding under the name of one of the best keepers in the world.

Jesus fudgein christ. Can't we unite to defeat the real enemy? (By that I mean Liverpool)

I'm a Norwich supporter but don't mind Arsenal or ManU. I'm not sure why things got nasty there but surely we can take it down a notch.

I didn't say it mate, it's a quote - hence the quotation marks. It was from a Football365 opinion piece.

And your ridiculous comments in multiple posts after that are just crazy, particularly the below-the-belt personal stuff aimed at Buffon.

Grow up Leggy, it's beyond pathetic.

I think it depends on which trophies you count. Some only count certain trophies, some count everything down to some pre-season 4 way tourney vs Outer Mongolia. Pretty sure the one I read only included trophies where all teams were entered so didn't count things like Club World Cup, European Super Cup etc. Who knows...I just wanted a Liverpool voice in the Man Yoo/Arsenal pissing contest.

So with Rooney confirmed as a forward does that mean he and Zlatan will effectively job share the number 9 role. Keep both their legs fresh?

Martial and Rashford on the flanks?

Maybe even Pogba in behind?

Fudge off, the real enemy is Wolves after that limp wristed performance all those years ago in 1976 when they capitulated in the last 15 mins against the reds. They had denied the best club around, their rightful Division One title. The football that hooped side played was total football. I have never forgiven Wolves for that!!

Saw some reports saying that Mourinho has determined an "unwanted eight"... sources pretty flimsy, and only 7 players were actually mentioned, so take with a grain of salt;

Janujaz

Depay

Blind

Rojo

Schweinsteiger

Schneiderlin

Mata

Permalink Permalink

Well Mata isn't exactly a surprise!

Permalink Permalink

Yea definitely.

There's been talk he's not a fan of Rojo or Blind, apparently prefers the big no-nonsense style CBs.

I always thought Janujaz was a bit overrated.

Schweinsteiger is getting on, was a weird signing to begin with, makes sense.

Schneiderlin and Depay leaving would surprise me though.

Permalink Permalink

I can see him getting rid of Van Gaal's folly though (Depay) - purely as an ego, cut with the past thing.

He'll be a good player in a couple of years time but Moo never exhibited that much patience with the youngsters.

Has anyone heard of Anthony Doherty before?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Forever-Young-Adrian-Doherty-Footballs/dp/1784295418

Apparently he was "the" big hope, more so than Ryan Giggs - I've been a United fan since 1980/1, and have many biographies - but never heard of the guy. I read online that it's like he has been airbrushed out of MU's history.

Anyway, bought the book so will see what he was about. By the looks off it, he was a sensitive soul with amazing pace and skills to die for

I must say I have heard of him, mainly because I spend far too much time on wikipedia.

A sad story, but I don't really think he's been erased from the history more than anyone else who hasn't made it (for whatever reason).

If you do get the book then do let us all know how you get on, love me a good biography.
