In a top English football match, Reading's mascot was sent off by the referee in a game against Newcastle United.

The referee defended his decision to give the red card to Kingsley -- a giant lion who wears Reading's blue and white hooped shirt - saying it was confusing him.

Reading's manager Steve Coppell says he can understand why the referee was confused.

He says the mascot looks like so many of his players

BUgger the mascot i had 10 bucks on newcastle 2 win!!!they were paying 4 bucks
