In the mid-late 70's I used to keep an eye out on their results, like Brechin City too, more because I was cheering for the underdog than anything. I just found this clip.

I may be the only (or one of few) people on this forum that has been to a MTFC game, I have a meadowbank thistle pin on my Hibs scarf back in Edinburgh.

I signed the petition against moving the Thistle to Livingston, but arguably they've been a lot more successful as Livingston FC than as MTFC.

Other than the Thistle league I went to. I was at a testimonial in the late 80s for a Thistle player at Easter Road, it was an Edinburgh select, ie Hearts & Hibs players against Meadowbank Thistle. John Robertson and Gordon Rae in the same team!!

When Hibs, went up, to win the Scottish Cup - I wisnae there - furfuxake!

You're a lucky man Ginger, To me it's the "little" things like that that shows how passionate some fans can be. Attending testimonials at the smaller clubs. I always felt here was a better atmsophere at the small gounds, lower leagues. I mean 50,000 Celtic or Rangers, or Man U can make a lot of noiset etc, but as you have experienced at the ROF, 10,000 can make heaps too!

Perhaps I'm just an old romantic about my football, but it is something special and an experience always worth cheerishing. Bit like the first game you ever attend.

Hey LGM, finally we have something in common.  I'm also a closet Brechin City fan!  Never seen them play and know little about them but always follows their results.  Them and the mighty Leatherhead FC from Ryman Division One South.  I followd them all round the south of England until I was old enough to go to the Bridge every week.  Happy days.

A wee bit more about that testimonial, I raised a question on the Hibs boards

''It was Walter Boyd of Meadowbank Thistle's testimonial. IIRC Alan Lawrence scored for the Edinburgh select.''

I hope you enjoy the new threads I've started too. I'll go hunting for the Scottish equivalent. Frankly, I thought Scottish football was played at a faster pace than the English game.

I'm, unfortunately, another who's seen Meadowbank Thistle. I used to hate going there when they played the REAL Thistle. They played in an athletics stadium and the pitch was about 4 miles from the stands. Could hardly see the players!

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

You saw some histroy mate, nothing worse than seeing a teams demise in that respect. I hate seeing teams go bust, not even Chelsea when the Russian gets bored and pulls out all of his money.
