How about Robin Van Persie for the golden boot this year?

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite

Yeah, Robin van Persie should be able to get it if the rest of the squad are up to scratch.

(START RANT)I could go into a long story about what really happened with regards to that incident, but suffice to say, it was a load of bollacks. (END RANT)
Anyway RVP has done well in preseason so far. I think he will be rested a little in this weekends amsterdam tournament so they can play Eduardo before season start.

Hmm so long as he stays fit yeah i don't see why not i mean Drogba will probably get it again but i'll be happy if RVP bags over 20 this season that'l put us in good stead to challenge for the title.

Three for me, and two for them.

2-1 to the gunners over Lazio in the Amsterdam tournament. Goals to Bendtner and Eduardo. Dodgy defending on our part but thats ok coz we basicly used our carling cup squad.

@Uber - did you watch the match on Arsenal TV Online? If so, what's it like? I'm thinking of getting it to watch the Ajax match Sunday morning.

Great win and excellent to see Eduardo on the score sheet.

Yeah. this is my third year with Arsenal tv online the quality is good for the video streaming, and there is an option to reduce quality if your broadband cant handle it. My video card on my computer has tv out, so i have a 10 meter S-video cable to my tv and wirless headphones so i can watch it on a big screen. During the regular season you wont get video coverage of any games. Home games you get live still images updated occaisonally but otherwise its audio commentary the rest of the time. Commentators are quite good, and they cover all arsenal games, fa cup, carling cup, champions league and premiership.

Cheers Uber - I might just do a month purchase to check out this match on Sunday.

Also the video stream (not the commentary though)this weekend is straight from the Ajax online service so the quality is pretty good, about even par with ESPN and some of there patented blurryvision games they show.

1-0 to the Arsenal. another RVP goal seals victory over Ajax in amsterdam tournament. Thats our second piece of silverware even before the season starts.

Haha I was just about to post. Excellent stuff. Roll on the Premiership and Champion's League.

How do you Gunners rate Aliadiere, he's been playing pretty good for the Boro in pre Season. I saw him destroy Liverpool last season in the Carling Cup, and I hope he can play like that for us week in week out. It's a good chance for him to prove himself, as he didn't get many oppurtunities at Arsenal with the likes of Henry Bergkamp and Van Persie in front of him. Whats your thoughts on him?

He's rubbish. He did have numerous occasions at Arsenal to prove otherwise but didn't.

He might be ok for you guys, but he is nowhere near Arsenal standard.

I think to be fair he sustained alot of injuries which kept him out of the first team but if he was completely rubbish we wouldnt have kept him for 8 years. He has alot of potential, similar to Jermaine pennant, maybe it just wasnt ment to happen for him under the arsenal system.

His biggest flaw was maybe being a little too easily muscled off the ball.

Thanks for your opinions lads, they're much appreciated. He has said it's a massive season for him and he wants to show what he's made of. I guess only time will tell

no problem. could you please change your avatar , for some reason I have tried to read your post about 20 times now and the text has only just sunk in. (just kidding)

Perhaps I was a little harsh on Aliadiere. He did have some good performances, but I still think overall he wasn't up to scratch. And he doesn't get called 'the man made of glass' for nothing (he has a strong tendency to get injured easily).

I hope he turns out well for you.

Gallas to captain the Gooners this season!

Permalink Permalink

I think he has the balls for it, and the younger guys respect him. I still think Gilberto would be better but Wenger knows best.

http://www.arsenal.com/article.asp?thisNav=News&article=480062&lid=NewsHeadline&Title=Wenger+hands+captain%27s+armband+to+Gallas

Looks like Wenger wanted a centre-back to captain, which is fair enough. Although it does beg the question, what about Toure?

I guess he opted for Gallas for his additional experience and the hope that Gallas might settle down a bit and act a bit more responsibly (which seems to be working already).

For all we know it could be a bribe to keep him at the club.

i have got a bad feeling the silva might be going to juve hence the reason he's not captain and the "bid" for diarra. i really do hope that this isnt the case thou,  last year silva was his best in gunners shirt by far. Cant wait for the season to start. Cant blive that they arnt showing the arsenal game on sky

go gunners

Interesting theory there re: Gilberto. He was certainly one of our best players last season and I hope he stays around, particularly given the experience we've already lost this transfer period.

2-1 vs Fulham, i was so gutted when i heard the first goal go in, i thought just like last season, here we go again, and to be honest it was just like last season. Arsenal playing kick about for 80 minutes and letting the other team have a sniff of victory and then suddenly decide they have had enough larking about and win the game with barely seconds to spare.

yeah mate we'll take the 3points with open arms. great ball by cesc and good finish by helb. Lets hope helb keeps put them away this season aye. Cant wait to see silva in action

Remember to pull all your Arsenal players out of your fantasy football teams for the next round as we are playing Sparta Prague on thursday morning, not newcastle

Already did, won't tell my mates to do the same thing though.

I watched the arsenal game on that live scores section of premierleague.com
Absolute nightmare when the first goal went in.

Anyone got any better sites for getting live updates???

A bit disappointed Gallas is captain. Gilberto should have stayed as captain in my mind.I'll be gutted if he's sent on his way. we've lost too much experience as it is.

If we lose Gilberto we will desperately need to get another good and experienced midfielder.
