I am indeed quite hilarious in the same way that you are quite stupid Muso.  Fancy me wanting to have some intelligent discussion and debate on a discussion forum?  Whatever was I thinking?  More than one sentence in text speak too hard for you?

hmm soo how is it that blatantly just having a one eyed attack on the arsenal fans here for believing they can win teh premier league count as intelligent conversation, i'm all for having fun discussion on ehre, and i try to with the arsenal fans as much as possible, but, regardless of how arsenals squad looks, how can u justify trying to slam them so hard for picking their team to win the premier league, in teh same way u pick chelsea and i pick man U. Intelligent debate is not dictating that u think Arsenal is crap. heck, i think chelsea is crap.

Please re-read my comments.  I wasn't saying Arsenal are crap.  I simply explained why I think they aren't good enough to win the EPL this year.  I had a bit of a dig at them because to blindly just say Arsenal will win because you support them is just childish playground argument kind of stuff.  Kind of like saying "I think Chelsea is crap" don't you think?

sorry if i take saying Arsenal are not good enough to mean they are crap, but it seems plain, all i'm trying to say is, why do u think u should knock them for thinking the team they support can win the league, or place them top in the hope they will do so?its hardly childish to support your team and place them first on a prediction list.

muso. plus mr. dog we arsenal fans may be biased in our picking of arsenal to win, everyone overrates their own team (besides maybe man utd fans?) but heres a question: what did you win last year? does that make you crap aswell?

90% of chelsea fans are completely plastic and jumped on the bandwagon when they started winning, and will probably jump right off again if they ever drop from the 'fantastic'(ly boring) club they are now.

That's a sweeping generalisation francsernal.  The best supported English teams in NZ are definitely Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd and Liverpool.  Fancy that.  Does that mean only Chelsea fans are bandwagon jumpers?  How long have you supported your club?  How many of the Arsenal guys who post on here have ever seen their team play?  It seems to me that any successful clubs are going to be followed by bandwagon jumpers.  That's life. Don't assume we're all the same.

Personally I have supported my club for nearly forty years and followed them home and away until I emigrated ten years ago. Believe me,  I know crap when I see it cos that's what I watched for many years so get a little frustrated with the banal "Chelsea are crap, boring, plastic bandwagon jumpers" with nothing to back it up.

I don't believe everyone does overrate their team.  Most Spurs fans know they support a crap team.  I certainly don't overrate the Nix. It's not about what you won last year, it's about your ability to win what is on offer this year.  But apparently I'm not allowed to have an opinion about another team's chances without someonew saying my team is crap in response.  If that's the level we're operating at here that's very sad.  I just think some people should put their brains in gear before they post.

I don't believe in "Plastic" supporters. Most people who support the EPL have never been to a game, or even visited the area from which their club are based. When anyone decides they like supporting football they want to choose a team for many different reasons (fav player, players nationality, coach, football style, or success) every reason is a valid as any other. I honestly believe that Arsenal have more "fair weather supporters" than most clubs. just try reading the comments on larger football websites like goal.com or euro-sport.
Our (being Arsenal) style of football is attractive and attracts neutrals, but the instant we start winning ugly, they will disappear just the same way as some Chelsea supporters would evaporate without Abramovich's billions.

Blimey, I might have to agree with you there for once UG.  Actually, one of the issues Chelsea have had is that the money and success has actually turned off a lot of the long standing fans.  Man Utd have had the same problem and fans up there have started their own non-league club as a protest.  Personally I'm blue through and through but I'm probably not as dedicated as I used to be.  Once we won the league again I had a bit of a Fever Pitch moment!

11 - Wigan (This is my wildcard, I think they look really good)
12 - Middlesbrough (Its hard to pick them above Blackburn but I reckon they are improving)
13 -  Blackburn (Why oh why did you let Mark Hughes go???)
14 - Sunderland (I'm not yet convinced about Keane as a manager sorry, great fans though)
15 - Hull (Only cause the teams below them are even worse)

17 - Bolton (Rubbish)
---------------

So how long HAVE you supported your club?  How do you define "completely plastic"? What's the difference between someone who has supported Arsenal for five years and someone who has suported Chelsea for five years?

i agree with what you say there, quite fair really, i just dont like the fact that people assume every single chelsea fan is plastic, when really every club has plastic supporters(god i hate that term plastic, define plastic anyway!)

thanks for saying some as well, i assume your a smart minded person by the way you wrote that piece, and that you would never desert your club, as i would never do so. mancs are the worst at taking the piss out of chelsea anyway.

My top 3 predictions, feel free to disect them!

1<>Chelsea(if we stay injury free we should do the job)
2<>Arsenal Or Liverpool(both look pretty stron at the moment, if arsenal can keep it up they should be ok, and liverpool should have a steady supply of last minute goals to keep them going
3<>Manchester United(one man team anyone? but really, i think there slow start will really cost them this year

It's very early days tigers. Remember Wigan in 05/06? Made a brilliant start to the season and were second after about 12 games. Ended up nowhere and fighting against relegation the next season.

But best of luck on staying up anyway.

Three for me, and two for them.

Yes, I remember in the mid 90's when Chelsea had gates of around 9 - 10k too. Whilst no doubting your own situation with them, there certainly has been a large amount of glory hunting fans jumping on board. Some ex QPR , Fulham   and Brentford  too!

Your banter with Arsenal fans brings back memories to me. I once went to Stamford Bridge in '85 (or 80) when my QPR at Forest game was canned. Under my coat I had my QPR jersey on. Chelsea drew 1-1 with Arsenal and I was standing in "The Shed" right behind the goal. Great game it was, and it was packed to be honest.

I remember Ken Bates copping a load of crap for starting the ground redevelopment. Look at it now, the finished product is quite impressive.
Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

while i love what bates did in terms of getting our ground back, and yes what we have is impressive, i dont like the bloody chelsea village, it is the one thing standing in the way of expanding the shed end(quite literally STANIDING in the way) and he is refusing to give up his penthouse there! so ive heard anyway.

The thing is though Loner, the support was always there.  Even when we were in the second division we were just waiting to take off.  It was nothing to get 42,000 in the ground for a big cup game and then have 10,000 the following week to watch Cambridge or someone. Our away support was always awesome.  Because of our location we have a huge catchment area around Surrey, Sussex, Kent.  Chelsea really was the classic sleeping giant through the late 70's and 80's.  So some might argue we've bought our way to the top.  I prefer to think we should have always been there!

They get in free.  Bus to the ground and seat in the Directors Box.  That was a Ken Bates initiative!

Hardly the same Paul.  All I was saying is that Chelsea have always been well supported, even after years of second division mediocrity.  There is a loty of loyalty there not bandwagon jumpers.  For proof, this was Chelsea support in the 80's filling one end of Highbury.

What has support got to do with success? If it was all down to support then Newcastle and Sunderland would top the table while Bolton and Wigan would be firmly rooted to the bottom.

Three for me, and two for them.

i'm not counting my chickens yet Buffy

every point seems like a gift from above

i never would have exected 2 wins form our first four games -even after seeing the fixture list

i'd settle for ending up 'nowhere ' this season and even fighting a successful relegation battle next season

in fact  -as Wigan look to have come on a bit this season, i might be hoping we follow their exploits

early days - but 3 out of four of those days have made sure i've worn a broad smile (at least until half time at the ring of fire)  so far this season!!

if the nix win today it'll be close to a perfect football weekend

Liverpool, well, I don't think they can do it with Rafa at the helm, he doesn't have a clue about his best XI and some of his recruitment is insane. Pennant, Kuyt, Barry (for Alsonso, what was he thinking! lucky the Yanks pulled the plug) the list goes on. They will be closer to 3rd than last year but I can't see them being serious contenders.

I'm sorry, but Rafa is absolutely great. You whinge about his signings, but surely you overlook the great signings; Torres, Mascherano, Luis Garcia, Alonso, Agger, Skrtel, Reina, Riera even. The list goes on. Kuyt has been a solid player, he isnt spectacular, but he is a solid player.

As a manager, nobody can argue with his tactical ability and while he occasionally seems to over-complicate things, no manager in the world could claim to have won a European Cup with the likes of Traore and Biscan in the team, whilst claiming the scalp of Chelsea, Juve and Olympiakos on the way. Dont believe everything you read in the newspapers- next thing you'll be talking about zonal marking!
