Just found this clip. With Forest visiting this weekend, it gets you in the mood. Also note Gary Bannister playing for forest and a certain Roy Keane - who delivered the perfect through ball in which a goals results.

Blimey silly season has come around quick. El Tel to be OPR's next manager if Dowie does not keep them in the promotion race, according to some tabloid back home.

Totally past it as a manager surely?

Iain Dowie's future at Queens Park Rangers continues to be the subject of speculation after a run of poor league results.

The Mirror suggests the former Coventry City boss is on a last warning at Loftus Road and that ex-R's manager Terry Venables is being lined up to return to the club he led in the 1980's.

Ah, those were the days. Somehow I don't think that this weekend's game will have quite the same entertanment factor.

surely the Dowie talk is a bit of "pushing the panic button". That is if there is any truth to it at all knowing the media as I do.

Queens Park Rangers are close to agreeing a deal for Sunderland goalkeeper Martin Fulop.

The Hungary keeper is expected to join on loan with view to a permanent deal worth around 1.6mil.

Shame that Camp hasn't been given a decent run this season. I would prefer him to Cerny. That said, I would have thought that GK was the least of our worries at present. How 'bout a proven goalscorer?!

QPR have had a sh*t TV Gantry since the early 70's, no matter how many fans moan about it, the club consistantly ignores it and prefers to put the tickets up to 50 pound.

The problem is Briatore. Rich boys with rich toys. They may be rich but at the end of the day, they've paid 250k for Kaspa Gorkss and brought in Ledesma & Perajo on loans. The rest of their money has been spent on upgrading the corporate-rich pricks areas of the stadium.

The concept that they have spent millions on the players is a straightout lie.

The second lie told was about season tickets and match ticket prices. Charging fans premiership prices for Championship standards is not on and the club have received a lot of negative press about it - rightly so. If we were playing in a brand new stadium like the Emerates with EPL footie, I could understand it but we are not.

The 3rd told lie was that Dowie was told that Briatore & Ecclestone want EPL football within a 5 year plan which really means a 1 year plan.

The only debt Briatore & Ecclestone took on was our 10 mill ABC loan. But instead of wiping the debt (Another lie told), they're charging the club 8% interest instead of the 11 the ABC were charging us.

There is a ray of hope though. The Mittal family (3rd richest man in the world) have bee seriously bitten by the football bug and QPR (Apprently the passionate fans have won them over). They may well buy the club in it's entirity from Briatore & Ecclestone and bring back an air of reality instead of celebrity.

Dowie is not an awful manager (albeit an ugly one) and he was doing ok. I was happy with him. Some of the performances were poor but I've been expecting that as the majority of playing staff have been changed since last season. Freebies, loans galore etc.

One thing is for sure, it's never dull in Shepherds Bush. For a manager, I'd like us to get back in Gerry Francis with El Tel as an advisor. Both did well in the 90's, last time around Francis reign went sour because of Chairman influence and players who were not as good as they believed they were.

What the......?!!!!!!!!! What was needed was some stability. I thought Dowie was a strange choice too but once you've gone with him you have to stick with him. 10 league games is stuff all time if you are serious about achieving something. Doesn't say much for the owners if their judgement is that poor.

Forget a manager - what we need is a goalscorer!
Don't agree with the Francis/Venables idea LGM. They are both among my favourite R's managers of all time but I think it would be better to look elsewhere.

I thought about it today and I think we should really go with someone younger - around 40 and just finished playing. Viali is out of the running too. Then again, we had a good manager in Di Canio, He should have been allowed to finish the job. The R's were playing some very entertaining footy under his rule.

Hmmm chuffed after getting away with a 0-0 draw (in which there near misses and penalty claims from Reading). Seems as though QPR are now a club that recognises it lives in the shadow of Reading - even trying (and failing) to score score points on the hoops issue!

Though am happy for you guys that you are now rid of Dowie. Curbishley might be a good fit for you...

1 -0 over cardiff who lost two players to red cards during the game. Gavin mahon scored for the hoops with 10 to go. A horrible win but it's 3 points and 7th place. Still in touch with those above.

Well guys, we lost at Old T. thanks to the traditional United late penalty.

Was it, wasn't it? Ramage did go for the ball and was sliding when the United player shot for goal and then got collected. How the hell was Ramage meant to pull out of it??

Still at least it wasn't a 5-0 tonking, thank f**k!!

Well not sure if it was too much to get excited about LG.  24 shots to 2, and neither of QPR's shots was on target.

Or is that just the reality of the gap between the big 4 and the Championship. We (Burnley) are hoping to give your prawn sandwich neighbours (Chelsea) a bit of a rark up tomorrow, and I wouldn't be surprised if we just give them a wee fright at least.  Also taking on 6,000 lads and lasses from Lancashire, so that should give them a reminder of what following football is (or should be ) all about - passion not fashion!

Come on you Clarets (being a symbolic cry for the underdog/traditionalist!)

If United had 24 shots and could only score from a penalty, either their shooting is sh*t or we defended pretty good. I see Joke lost 5-0 there this morning so perhaps we did pretty good??

Todays match report from losing to your lot 2-1.

Burnley enjoyed another profitable outing in west London as super-sub Alan Mahon secured a 2-1 victory over QPR in their Coca-Cola Championship clash at Loftus Road.

Just three days after their memorable Carling Cup penalty shoot-out success at Chelsea, the Clarets again showed their liking for life in the capital with a valuable win over their play-off rivals.

Owen Coyle's men had stayed on in London following their heroics at Stamford Bridge, and now head back to Lancashire with a quarter-final against Arsenal to look forward to and another three points towards their promotion bid.

Dexter Blackstock had fired Rangers ahead early on, but Robbie Blake replied against the run of play before half-time and Mahon thumped the winner just three minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute.

The hosts, who were themselves given a taste of life in the Premier League when they went down 1-0 at Manchester United in the Carling Cup, took the lead in the 14th minute.

Winger Lee Cook toyed with former Rangers defender Clarke Carlisle before cutting the ball back to Blackstock, who curled a fine effort past Brian Jensen into the far corner.

Jensen then had to tip a Damion Stewart header over the crossbar and Cook blasted a volley high and wide with Burnley on the ropes.

But Rangers could not find the crucial second goal and Burnley equalised with their first meaningful attack 11 minutes before the interval.

Blake collected Joey Gudjonsson's incisive pass on the edge of the area, brought the ball onto his left foot and lashed a powerful drive past Radek Cerny.

After the break, Chris Eagles fired wide and Wade Elliott shot straight at Cerny before, at the other end, Rangers were denied what appeared a clear penalty by referee Keith Woolmer.

Blackstock raced into the area and was sent tumbling by Carlisle, the last defender, in front of goal but Woolmer waved away the hosts' appeals.

Jensen then beat out Samuel Di Carmine's shot before Burnley were dealt a blow when Eagles had to be stretchered off.

But it was his replacement, Mahon, who proved to be the match-winner with a superb strike on the hour.

Blake's cross from the right took a couple of deflections on its way through to Mahon, who was lurking on the other side of the area and buried a first-time shot back past Cerny.

Blake also hit the bar with an angled drive, while Blackstock headed over from Peter Ramage's cross as Rangers looked for an equaliser, and Jensen tipped Patrick Agyemang's header over the top in stoppage time.
