Thank god for the Nix actually playing football, this winter break lark is a waste of time. Especially since weather is never this bad at this time of year in Scotland!

It's ridiculous.

Winter break and then the first game for us was postponed due to the weather. Was at Central Park on Wednesday for the rescheduled fixture. Absolute brass monkeys.

Some farcical calls this weekend.  Especially, and unsurprisingly in The Rangers game.  I mean, who gets FOUR penalties?!?

Big game for us on Wed against them.  A victory will put the cat among the pigeons.  Be nice if Killie turned them over too.

Colvinator, must be a bit pissed that they took Kamara off you for pittance?

05 Feb 00:43 · edited 05 Feb 00:43 · History

Saw a great call re: Rangers & the penalties:

"Four penalties!?! Even the Nazis in Escape to Victory only gave themselves one".

Hopefully you sheep shaggers get a better go with the whistle!

Actually we were happy to get 100k for Kamara in the end. Was out of contract end of season and after signed a pre-contact with him we weren't playing him, assume he'd lost interest. But yea, still a pittance of what he's worth. We're always terrible with the transfer market.

Cracking game at Pittodrie so far. Too busy at work to leave early for the trip up so only the third domestic Rangers game i've missed in a year and a half.

2 pens - 1 each and 1 red card each. What is it with the Ger's and reds and pens?

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Morelos is always good for one. Needs to learn but I don’t think he will.

Rangers mate says Aberdeen were all over them near the end at least.

I was watching another Dundee disaster. 2-2 with Killie then in the last seconds of injury time Kenny Miller completely free through for a one on one, makes a mess of it but luckily wins a penalty, then takes the penalty which was saved.

Aberdeen looked more up for it in spells in the first half. In the second we did our usual and backed off inviting them to attack. Also bought on another centre half. Not sure why Gerrard persists with those tactics when we have a slender lead, undone us against them opening game of the season, away to Motherwell and at home to Hibs. Hamilton nearly came away from Ibrox with a point on the back of similar too.

I think you guys will stay up. St Mirren are truly awful and will go down and I think you will get above Hamilton eventually.

Double post.

07 Feb 00:35

I just don't understand how McGregor gets away with it. Morelos too, but Madden absolutely loved everything he did.  I'm still bewildered as to why McKenna got sent off. Morelos kicks him in the balls, hence legs straighten, then proceeds to stand on him. No complaints about the pen, but was never a free kick (again Morelos) in the build up. Morelos is very good at cheating.  It's a shame as I do actually think he's a reasonable footballer. No need for his sharke.

Rangers didn't deserve to win that by any stretch of the imagination, however I think we were our own downfall.  First two goals were gifts, just gave them the freedom of Pittodrie. Not sure why DM felt the need to experiment with formations for this one, defence looked completely confused in the first half.  Second half was much more like it, but was too much to ask for, especially with them sitting back and soaking up the pressure.  Too many of our players not at the races.

Decent game and atmosphere for the neutral though.

Agree with PRW, reckon you'll stay up Colvinator.  St. Mirren are awful, but you should have enough to beat whoever finishes top of the play offs.  I'm still hoping Hamilton go down too.

07 Feb 07:21

Yeah I’m hoping Hamilton go down too. Worst away trip in the League and their pitch is terrible like all the plastic ones.

12 Feb 01:36

Tasty ties for the Scottish cup. Obviously hoping killie beat them, we usually do OK against killie at home, barring any refereeing fudge ups. Nice to see that therell be at least one Championship team in the semis too. Hoping the jags can do one over hearts.

13 Feb 15:49 · edited 13 Feb 15:50 · History

We were dreadful against Killie on Saturday. I can’t even remember the last time we beat them at Ibrox either so I’m not holding much hope for the replay.

13 Feb 15:53

The whole compliance officer thing is getting out of hand.

Not sure how McGinn’s assault on the Dundee Utd player doesn’t get upgraded. If he does that in the street he’s getting charged with assault. For what it’s worth I think McGregor’s is worth a ban. But I don’t know how Power doesn’t get upgraded for the tackle on Ryan Jack on Saturday either.

Used to be much better that if it was dealt with by the ref at the time then no punishment can be taken afterwards.

15 Feb 21:39 · edited 15 Feb 21:39 · History

I agree, but they've made a rod for their own back by rescinding the Morelos red card at the start of the season.  I've found the uproar from the rangers fans hilarious, given they've been provided so much leniency from the SFA / referees.  I don't disagree with any of your second paragraph though, it does seem peculiar.  Almost that they realise they've made mistakes previously and are now making them look consistently wrong.  Calls for VAR to be introduced, i'm not sure the Scottish officials are competent enough to use it correctly.

Will say this though, McGregor's was a clear assault (he's done it a number of times this season). He's not protecting himself, he's out the injure Ferguson. Had the correct decision been made, he'd have been off, we'd have scored a penalty, and I doubt you'd have won.  There is no reason as to why either linesman couldn't have made that call.  It was right in his line of sight. I'll give Ibrox ST holder Madden the benefit of the doubt in this instance ;)

17 Feb 06:57

Massive own goal from the Dons today.  Only scraping a draw against St. Mirren, who are god awful.  Think that writes off our battle for second.  Too many players not performing at the moment (GMS in particular).

17 Feb 07:10

Letting St Mirren get a point was a muppet move!

The Livingston plastic pitch is a dog, players clearly struggling with it. Dundee's new superstar striker Nelson even injured himself on it during celebrations for his goal! Thankfully scraped a win vs their 10 men to be marginally out of the doon zone.

17 Feb 11:48

We were absolutely dreadful yesterday and could easily have been beaten. The type of game of football that gives Scottish football a bad name and perpetuates stereotypes. No quality at all.

I can't even begin to describe how bad the game was. Only two decent chances (one for either side), most of it was spent with both teams giving the ball away to each other back and forth unenforced.

17 Feb 19:20

I'll let you thank us for Wright at the end of the season Colvinator ;) some hit at the weekend.  How is he playing overall?

And invariably they involved St. Johnstone. Would hate to have to watch them as my team, especially under Wright. With the Dhims winning, i'd say that's the league done and dusted.

18 Feb 00:22

Yep, league is over. Turned on the Celtic game just as Broadfoot was sent off. Can’t believe Brown managed to stay on the pitch then score the winner with a shot that was going over the bar until it hit a Killie player on the arm and went in!

Watched a little of bit of Motherwell Hearts today on the telly. Was a fairly decent game but I missed the winner which I’ve seen back and it’s a total howler.

Not looking forward to Ibrox on Wednesday nor New Douglas on Sunday.

21 Feb 00:15

Wow, on the back of Rangers accusing the BBC of an anti Rangers Bias (no chuckling at the back), the SFA make sure they have appeased them but cheating their way through the cup replay with Killie. Unbelievable.  Words genuinely fail me. It's blatant now.

22 Feb 21:41

Wright was man of the match for us this morning. For our first goal he beat three players and dinked in a beautiful ball. 2-4 loss in the end. Kenny Miller had two goals disallowed. In 4 matches Wright now has 2 goals and 3 assists!

I think this is the form we've been waiting from him (aside from playing Partick).  He's very much a confidence player and he's getting to play, which is the most important thing.  This has been a big criticism of DM.

Was very pleased to see Shinnie get a couple of goals.  He's been a bit patchy form wise this season but that was a good captains performance. Properly took the game by the scruff of the neck.

25 Feb 12:12

Thoughts for Wednesday Colvin?

We’ve lately taken a few off you at Ibrox but you are in a much better place than the last few games there.

Managed to pick myself up a ticket for Pittodrie. Going to be a cracking game.

Sunday's game fills me with fear. Have a feeling you're going to pump us, and it's not going to be pretty.  DM cannot get this team to play, not surprising given we've had about 3-4 shark transfer windows in a row.

Only just saw this. My thoughts were I text dad the night before saying "not looking forward to tomorrow"! Rangers in good form just now.

Was pretty much game over after the early goal. Hope we get to play you again next season!

My Rangers mates are very excited with the goings on at Parkhead.

03 Mar 11:40

Yeah I hope you stay up. I have a bit of a soft spot for Dundee. We get treated quite well up there when we go.

On route to Pittodrie now. Going to be a powder keg of a match likely. Whoever gets beat their seasons likely done and I’ve never seen us win up here so I’m a bit worried!

03 Mar 15:35

Well that was a whirlwind 90 mins!

Very lucky we are still in the tie.

13 Mar 07:42

Happy days, what a result. Slippy g and his comments have well and truly come to bite him in the arse. Not a bad week for me, married, draw with the dhims and a win against them ?

07 Apr 09:16

Sorry colv, you must be worried. Dees were terrible this morning. We weren't much better, but once we went ahead we at least looked the better side.

Watched the Motherwell v Rangers game this morning. Scottish football has fallen so so far, it was an appalling example of helter skelter football. The game just keeps creeping backwards further and further each year domestically and at senior male age group level.  A complete lack of talent coming through ( Ive watched plenty of other games) which is very depressing given how Scotland used to produce so many top class players. What makes it worse is that the fan base seems to be completely oblivious to the lack of quality of players being produced and spends most of its time moaning about managers and peripheral stupidity.

Are there any signs anywhere things might improve?

Am so over Dundee!!!!

Big month or so coming up.

19 Apr 06:56

So who we wanting as national manager?  Not sure I could care less anymore, given the way the SFA operate both domestic and national football.

19 Apr 09:06

At the point where surely nobody good would want it!

15 May 20:00

You must be hoping the Arabs cock this one up colv?

Looking forward to the season ending. Hasn't been a great one, and not helped by the pandering of the sfa to one club.

19 May 10:58

Watched St Mirren beat 9 man Dundee 3-2 last night in an entertaining game. Like our first ever captain, one of Dundee's defenders got sent off after just 20 mins in his final game as a professional. Was a harsh card but was the "last man" scenario.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

Is your username just a username or are you the Alf Stamp that played for Caversham?

Back on topic, I was actually at the game you are talking about - it was entertaining as a fan but agree the football was great. Very rarely is.

I think there's a current crop of youngsters coming through as some clubs. Motherwell in particular, guys like Campbell, Hastie - now Rangers, and Turnbull - failed move to Celtic, all seem promising. Lewis Ferguson at Aberdeen looks a decent prospect.

The Rangers Reserve team that won the league this year is mostly a U19 team that seem promising from the handful of games I have watched and the Premiership has more sides who try and play football compared to a few years back. Levein continually gives 16/17/18 year olds chances too at Hearts.

No I am not the real Alf Stamp although similar age, he was one very special player.  I hope your right about the up and coming youngsters in Scotland

Didn't Alf Stamp play for Claudlands Hamilton at one stage?, Tall Skinny, prolific goalscorer? Is Scottish football staying on Bein or going to Sky Sports this season?

I watched Alf play in Dunedin. Amazing skills. Tall, skinny yep. Saw him run down the wing, flick ball up over his and the defenders head. And run on with the defender looking around to try and find the ball

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet
