Didn't Alf Stamp play for Claudlands Hamilton at one stage?, Tall Skinny, prolific goalscorer? Is Scottish football staying on Bein or going to Sky Sports this season?

Alf Stamp played for Caversham, Hamilton and Eastern Suburbs.

Fair enough. I’m way too young to have ever seen him play but my old man has told me about him a few times. I know he played under Bill Fleming at Cavvy.

Kick off this weekend.

We are away at Killie and despite them being all over the shop I’ve got a bad feeling we will continue our barren run at Rugby. Haven’t managed to sort myself a ticket so may have to settle for watching it on the couch.

Killie have a decent loyal support and one of the larger away followings in Scotland. They compete for a lot of their locals with us as Ayrshire has a very large Rangers following but also the villages and smaller towns around it are very supportive of Junior (non-league amateur) football which a lot prefer to follow instead of professional football.

Managed to pick up a ticket, on route now.

Celtic off to a flyer already so we’ll need to be racing today. Will be interesting to see how Aberdeen and Hearts shape up against each other.

I see Shankland scored four for Dundee United, I think they threw a lot of money at him to sign him, but strange that no SPL team signed him.

Think he’s a Jason Cummings type player Col. Very good goal scorer at that level but may struggle to take the step up. He was pretty average at Aberdeen.

We got out of jail today and will have to be much better than that for the rest of the season.

thats good, only danger we really have is he scores heaps by xmas and then gets bought by an SPL or English club during Jan transfer window. Great way to start the season though.

So Scottish season is well under way usually stuff happening, Legia Warsaw fans unveil banner of Pope John Paul at Ibrox (pretty impressive actually as its usually very hard to get anything in there) but Rangers still win

Motherwell can only beat Hamilton 2-1 despite Hamilton being sent off in the 20th minute! (OK it was a player called Hamilton that plays for Hamilton but still....)

and best of all the Dundee Derby is back and so is that famous scoreline of 6-2!!!!!

M'on the Arabs!

Watched a little bit of the Dundee Derby on the TV. We were actually thinking of going but couldn't get a train back to Glasgow without leaving the match early so we never got tickets.

We were beyond dreadful on Sunday. Was a tough watch.

Celtic having a shocker, I always thought getting Neil Lennon was a bad idea.

They completely outplayed us a couple of weeks ago but since then they haven’t looked great domestically. We were poor on Thursday night too against Young Boys but it was a great trip though.

A good weekend for you guys. Both Ayr and United dropping points and Inverness announcing they have financing issues.

Weird to see Celtic & Rangers both doing so well in the Europa League!

Big match is in the morning though, Dundee derby round 2. Unfortunately not gonna be able to watch it live.

I hope the rumors are wrong and Hibs don't appoint Kewell.

There's a lot of quality in both squads. Celtic have France's first choice U21 striker, and their CM plus about 6 or 7 current internationals. Frimpong, signed from City in the summer looks quite a good RB.

For us, Davis and Kamara are first picks for decent international sides. Brighton are meant to be looking at paying 10m for Kamara in January. Ryan Jack has played his way into the Scotland team. Barisic is Croatia's first choice LB now. McGregor is having one of his best seasons ever. We've also got in Helander who is a Swedish international and then there's Morelos up top who can't stop scoring. I think he's got 13 in Europe this season and tonight he broke Henrik Larsson's record of most goals in Europe in a season for a Scottish team.

Amazingly we are unbeaten at home in Europe under Gerrard and we've only lost 3 European games under him in 27. All away to Spartak Moscow, Rapid Vienna and Young Boys Bern. Unfortunately I was at all three haha.

Some scenes in the Motherwell away end on Boxing day.  Decent goal for them for their equaliser too.

Hearts away tomorrow, not overly confident that Mcwinless will play the right team. Hertz are rotten and any team that runs at their backline should have a field day. But have a feeling cautious McInnes will strike again and we'll lose 2-1.

So which game is it Sky?? 08 Feb 2021 12:55 "LIVE" SPFL

Wow, who knew his nickname as McWinless would still be relevant. Football has been turgid since October, which was a blip in the last three years tbh.  Really hope he get's moved on in the UK summer. We've not even finished third in the last couple of seasons which, given our budget and resources, we really should have at a bare minimum. Letting the dhims have second this season is criminal.

I noticed yesterday Sky were still using that blurb for Rangers vs Livingston. "Watch the best of Scottish football as Celtic aim for a 10th consecutive title."

Yea na, that's not what's happening in any sense.

Also had Celtic playing Dundee. Who knew you jumped up a league.

Surprised the Dons dumped McInnes this week, time would have been Jan or the summer (i'd accepted the summer). Really hoping we don't see another dodgy Atlanta link up.

Dundee promoted back to SPL!

Surprised at how easily beat Kilmarnock in playoff matches, 4-2 on aggregate but that flattered Killie. Excited for next season now!

I'm watching St Johnston V Celtic - 65 mins in, 2-0 to Celtic. This SPL, It is worse and I really do mean worse, than your average A League game. I cannot believe how poor Celtic are and cannot figure out how they are winning 2-0 when both sides look about the same. What a shark game.

Yeah, I used to go see Hibs quite a lot and there are some really dire games, but there's also a few good games.

The quality difference between the Old Firm and the rest of the league can be huge, although decreasing as Celtic and Rangers fall away from the rest of Europe.

Think this Celtic team are starting to find their feet under Ange. Just in time to play us this week…we’re like a rudderless ship from top to bottom. Complete clusterfudge of a club at the mo.

Cam Devlin & Hearts in the Scottish Cup final against Rangers this weekend.

They actually played each other in Edinburgh last weekend in the SPL. Comfortable 3-1 win for Rangers, with Devlin off at HT for fellow Aussie Nathaniel
Atkinson.

Not a good sign for Hearts, hopefully they strike Rangers on a downer for the Cup final.

Would it be fair to say that the A League would or could be compared to the level of the SPL?? Celtic & the Gers possibly being the exception. But on their day I recon Sydney & Melb City could beat them. Just look at their performances in Europe.

Maybe it was in the Alex Greive thread…or somewhere- but Scrappy Doo has played the last 3 games even though he didn’t feature against Aberdeen. So seems very much a key player for Hearts.
