I do feel sorry for the guy. The owners have no clue. Mancini is a good manager but he won't lift them too much higher. Then what? He gets the chop too?

I hope they implode and are in League 2 within 5 years.

Three for me, and two for them.

So you win a thriller 4-3 and you get fired! Hughes is actually a decent Manager. I do feel sorry for him. And we get Paul Hart FFS, Rather have Sparky any day.

Nothing wrong with him - did a better job then anyone at Blackburn. Just had too many egos to deal with at Man City and the players he got werent necessarily of his choosing. You won't see Mancini do any better.

Couldn't agree more Reading mate. Why does everyone think Citeh have this wonderful squad? They're rubbish.

Robinho is one the most overrated players in world football. Barry has been very average for them. Toure's on the decline. Ade is a lazy c**t. Lescott has been woeful.

They aren't a top four side. They're lucky to be a top six side.

Three for me, and two for them.

One of the things I admire Ferguson about is he doesnt 'just' wave his chequebook about. He does detailed background checks on the players to see if they will fit in etc. Do read the book by the former Man U security chief - he had to get an ex-SAS collegue to do surveillance on Chris Sutton for a week as Fergie was interested in buying him, just to see if there were any vices he had.

Hughes has simply been given a wishlist by the owners about who to buy - the Kaka saga is an example. You cannot knit so many different egos and styles into a team withina  few months. When Mourinho did all his purchasing it was for players he knew damn well.

Also, Mourinho was utterly ruthless with players who didn't fit in.  (See: Adrian Mutu.)

No sympathy. a manager whose greatest achievement was to save blackburn from relegations shouldnt be in charge of a club that has title ambitions.

Unrealistic title ambitions though UG. They'll never win the title with that current squad, not in a blue moon.

I would take some of their strikers at the moment! (Not ahead of Torres, obviously).

Done a decent job at man city think he was hard done by they where 6th with a game in hand and have the best keeper in the premier league. would have got a player or two in january to help out and couldnt do any worse than woeful rafa at liverpool there are ahead of liverpool in the league so think el kun's statement is unmerited until he looks at the state liverpool are in losing to pompey

Erm. We wouldn't be in this mess if we could spend as much as Madrid in two seasons. What did Hughes win in his first two years?

lol i am not a man city fan you are living in the past for rafa he is not performing get rid of him i am only saying liverpool are in a worse position and rely to much on torres and gerrard biggest mistake made was getting rid of xavi alonso

You don't need to splash cash everywhere to build a strong successful team. Just look at Arsenal and Villa. Two teams built on small budgets through shrewd purchases in the transfer market.

Three for me, and two for them.

excatly i am not saying you have to spend money to be sucessful was just saying he didn't do that bad a job and that villa is a prime example of it with richard dunne being a great signing and james milner so just intrested to hear why the liverpool fan was dogging him when rafa is doing worse

Yeah. Rafa is as successful as those two teams (this season excluded!). Its when you want to be competing with United and Chelsea that you need cash. And you're brave. Sticking the boot in on Rafa. Revolutionary. Rafa has done a fine job at Liverpool.

how many liverpool fans are liking him at the moment i think he has done a good job but you need change he is getting it wrong and relying to much on torres and gerrard just think you guys need a fresh face maybe a liverpool man like kenny dal to work along side him more

Is right. I'm f**king sick of his sh*t. You never see Mr Ferguson swap his players around. Its costing us time and time again. And zonal marking? Over five years, we have achieved nothing with such a ridiculuous system. And that two-man team. Gosh. And selling Alonso, he was actually the third member of the so-called "two man" team. And Keane. What a shambles that was! And Torres too, even. Got rid of a decent English lad like Crouch for a Spanish fairy who hasn't got good hamstrings. Sparky for Liverpool!

I'm just in a very sarcastic mood- see my post in the Liverpool thread shortly after that one! Meh. Oh well. At least we'll have some stability. Better than bringing in Klinsmann! To be fair, I do feel sorry for Hughes given all the stuff he's had to put up with. Just don't think you need to beat Rafa up at every opportunity! (Not you, scottyboy or whatever). FFS. He shouldn't have sold Alonso? God, haven't heard that one before.

Why not? As you show he is a Premiership manager of some experience as well as an International manager and a player who has played for some of the biggest clubs. In fact he has more medals and credentials than the egos he was managing!

What's harder - keeping Man City in the top 6 for this season (the the position he agreed with the clubs owners to target) or keeping a poor Blackburn in the Premiership and then into Europe the following season. A no brainer really.

He is not a big enough Poser........ I reckon Man city wanted a Hollywood style Manager (special one!!) It's just tough luck, I reckon anything other than first and he would have got the boot.

Good on Citeh for having a crack at breaking the top four, Hughes was never the man to take them there though,  look at the egos that came into the side and where they came from they need an Anchelotti or Mourinho style manager to keep them in check Huhges looked to scared to take on robihno in case he sulked off to Brazil for an impromptu holiday

Quite the opposite, he has quite readily dropped Robinho when he has felt he has needed to. I don't think any manager can quite take on thse egos - unfortunately the benefit of a Mourinho or Anchelotti type manager is theat the are more likely to stand up to the egos of the owners - a sad fact in the game now! I cannot understand why people think Mancini is a better manager. Yes he won 3 Scudettos, but 2 of them were practically handed to him after the Serie A match-fixing scandal. In fact if zI remember for one of them they only finished 3rd or 4th. And he has been out of football for 18 months...

As an aside am disgusted with some  Man U forums calling for Ferguson to be sacked after the Fulham game - saying the title has gone and he has lost the plot. If currently 2nd in the league, 3 successive titles, 2 successive CL finals (winning one) and a World Club Cup is losing the plot, as well as the Hughes situation, then I am totally done with Premier League football

These are the same idiots who think we should buy Ronaldhino every year, and determine who the best player is by watching youtube videos from 3 years ago. Oh, and they've never actually watched an entire match.
