Must win game against Stoke at the stadium of light on Monday.
With Wigan beating West Brom and the Newcastle draw against West Ham
Bottom of the table is looking bad for both North East clubs
Dirty Mackem! :D
Howay the mags!

I never realised that SAFC succeeded in out doing The Toon for self-harm.
"Roberto De Fanti, the director of football, signed 14 players, 13 of them foreign and only five with previous Premier League experience, this summer"
That makes even midget Wise look positively in sync with Keegan.
Joe Kinnear touted as a possible replacement ,apparently Newcastle fans are prepared to club together to get him a Taxi out of St James park to the Stadium of Light.
I'm not sure why we can't just let Newcastle be the laughing stock of the North East, we seem to have the need to join them..
Well Di Canio has defintley improved the squad with his purchases, however not so much the starting 11..
"his" purchases?
Maybe, maybe not.. we had definitely signed half a dozen or so before our director of football turned up, tho Di Fanti may have been influencing our Chairman before that.
Cabral was an interesting one, signed early played all preseason, the first league game, probably our stand out performer and then gone.. Di Canio said he wasn't good enough..
Poyet appointed
http://www.theguardian.com/football/2013/oct/07/gus-poyet-new-sunderland-manager
Not sure what to make of Poyet yet (hopefully he doesn't continue to bang on about Chelsea every interview he gives), he worked wonders with Brighton, but then Di Canio did much the same with Swindon, but couldn't replicate in the EPL.
Were already looking in danger, really need to win 2 of the next 3 to get the confidence flowing again, they are capable and have played nice football just really ropey defence. In spells we looked very good against Man Utd, and Liverpool but ran out steam and errors crept in, cut them out and barring a wonder save from De Gea we would have turned the champions over..
Personally I still think we'll stay up, tho the title might be a bit beyond out reach now..
Poyet!
E rere ra e taku poi porotiti ti taha taha ra
dammit google translate doesn't do maori!

Poyet is boss.
ABC, were you at Frank Kitts Park yesterday afternoon walking your dog (at the Christmas activities after the parade)?
Can't be too many people proudly wearing a Mackem shirt in Wgtn.
I watched the highlights last night.
All I can say is thanks Lee Mason (but I draw the line at calling him a honey).

Nope wasn't me, maybe there is more than the 2 Sunderland fans i'm aware of in Welly, time to start a fan club :-)

Yes, needless to say a few profanities emerged from my mouth when he didn't give the penalty.. would have been a very vaulable chance at a potential point.
Tho i'm not so blinkered as to know we were probably lucky not to be getting beat by 3 or 4 at the time..
Ah well, West Ham, Norwich and Cardiff 3 of our next 4 games, 7 points from them or bust i reckon.. (4th game away at Everton where we always get stuffed)

Next year Milan?
Next year Milan?
Why not?
And perform a miracle, they did. Just like Palace.
What's this silly boy been up to then
Advocaat goes. Sunderland stay. Best 1 mill sterling for two months work ever spent.

Advocaat stays. "Got another coupla mill... plus? Bedankt hoor, guys."
Be a good move if they can get Jenkinson on loan.
Well done Sunderland. Showed a lot of guts.
Yes indeed. More days in the bottom three than Villa.
Defoe for England?
Bonkers season for us and a great way to end it, Funny that Leicester apart we probably had the biggest celebration in the league..
It is a sweet way to do it sending Newcastle down at the same time, and actually play a bit of decent football in doing so, enjoying the moment before the season ends and then we figure out how we don't let it repeat next year.
My biased opinion would say yes, just think he may be a bit far down the pecking order..
Kane, Vardy, Sturridge, Rooney i reckon will be the strikers..
over the last 7 years you guys have had more escapes than Harry Houdini. Is it not time to actually do something in the premier league than avoid relegation at the end of every season? Big club, big stadium, lot of fans and nothing to show for it, bit like your neighbours that fi ally got relegated for the same reasons. Players failing to deliver.

That would be much too boring wouldn't it :-)
Nah, hopefully we have a solid manager who can take us to that next level now, I see no reason why Sam can't take us up to a solid 10th place finish next year with a couple of signings.. We've certainly looked more solid since he arrived, and i reckon he can probably also take a lot of credit for laying the foundations at West ham to let them push on.. (west ham fans may think otherwise)
anyway can enjoy the last game of season with no stress, nice novelty..
First Season in ages, where we are going in with a bit of positivity that it may not be a relegation fight and the FA go and balls it up :-/ sigh...
fingers crossed for 17th place again...

Surely the prospect of Sam Allardyce departing your club would a cause of much celebration?

Ah but on the contrary, he was working wonders for us.. I really think a couple of seasons under Sam would be great for us get us cemented as a mid table team and look to push on from there ala West Ham with Billic.. Sam got them promoted and had them a solid mid table team, just didn't play the beautiful football they desire down there.. we are a bit more rough and ready up north..
Once he got a few decent players in in the transfer window we only lost 4 games of the last 20 and looked a whole lot more organised and committed.. we weren't playing the Long Ball game many people believe, as indeed you can't when you have a 5'7" Defoe up front by himself..
