After his latest act of thuggery, do you think Man city will let him go??

Which team do you think is desperate/stupid enough to buy him?

I'm going to say Bolton or Newcastle but if Allardyce is there, maybe not.

Someone will buy him - he's available for 5.5 m and he's a solid premiership midfielder. Not quite England class, but he'd add something to most EPL sides. He's obviously a bit of a nutcase, but a good mananger - which Stuart Pearce clearly is not - should be able to handle him.

I reckon seeing as Reading are probably going to lose Sidwell that Reading should target Barton as there 1 big signing. I hope Reading keep there squad cause Wigan got rid of most of there good players thinking they could get better ones which didn't happen.

If I was Steve Coppell, which I probably won't ever be, I really would move heaven and earth to keep Sidwell. Class act and can't be far off an England call. Silly me, for a second there I forgot who's in charge of England. Titus Bramble has a better chance...

Hes been trying to get him to stay all season but it doesn't look good thats why a good replacement would be Barton. Titus Bramble my friend thinks hes better than Nemanja Vidic and he thinks Jean Alain Bousong is better aswel. I nearly fell off my seat when he said that to me.

we've all made a few mistakes...Joeys made his share, maybe now it'll be easy riding for the club which ends up with him now (i think City has had enough)

i think those who have been speculating he'll end up at everton (seems like most of the media) are forgetting a few things, 1) he grew up as a l-pool supporter 2) he nearly beat up a child in a hotel [an everton supporter] 3) didnt he lose 8 weeks wages for dropping his shorts at the everton crowd?

im sure he'd be looking at trying to get into ANY other prem club than everton...he is quality, yes he's an angry guy who f***s up alot but he has talent, someone will buy him.

i hope the stuff about him joing Chelsea is wrong, it would ruin his career IMO, as he'd be a bench warmer, lets face it Abromovich aint gunna be forking out millions to lampard and ballack for one of them to sit on the bench while Sids starts...maybe city & reading will do a swap

could be all the more reason why he doesnt want to...he WAS a youth member...

i think points 2 & 3 i made may stick with the everton board, then again, if a quality player is a free agent or his club is after a quick, cheap sale............

i guess stranger things have happened

He will come to Everton this summer. Mark my words.

His brother is a convicted murderer, he dropped his shorts in response to jibes about his brother taking it up the Gary Glitter. The Everton fans Laughed about it. Joey Barton laughed about it. There is nothing in that story.

Manny Fernandez and Joey Barton will sign.

We would never have had him on loan if we couldnt have maid to permanent. I think the media speculation on the price is blown out of proportion. I think we'll get him

Manny has been thrown around as another loan season on some websites i would be happy with that... Barton not sure yeah good player and Moyes would be able to control but not forgetting we have Cahill to come back from injury a bit of dept would not go a miss considering were going on a european tour in August!!

we still have to replace kevin kilbane and simon davies  plus with the rumor beattie is off to fulham  we'll need to get another striker   although  he could be making way for nugent to come in from preston
i see there talking about signing paddy kenny from sheffield to replace richard wright also

time will tell  or maybe money, come on bill get that cheque book out again

Be interesting to see Barton play under Keano at Sunderland - he'd certainly be the man to tame Bartons wild side - either that or one will be doing 15 - 20 for murder.

i think it would be the best thing for his career to end up with Keano, the man is a nutter who wouldn't take any sh*t from Barton, and probably turn him into a regular england squad member (or as PROAK said a murderer)

although money could prevent that move me thinks

maybe somewhere other than england would do him better  get away from all the grief and media ?

away from the media could be bad for him aswell...atleast in England he's in the spotlight weekly through the EPL thus he is in the national selectors minds. if he was to go overseas germany would be good for him, look at Hargreaves at Bayern, he's doing alright there...maybe Man city can negotiate a part trade between the two

Scotland could be a goer for Joey...its close enough to England and still would get all the BBC coverage etc. And the lifestyle wouldnt change as drasticly as say Italy or Germany

Newcastle want jail clause in Barton deal
tribalfooball.com - June 03, 2007

Newcastle United are insisting on protecting themselves by including a clause in their contract with Manchester City midfielder Joey Barton.

The Sun says Barton, 24, is expected to complete a 5.5million switch today.

But Toon have insisted on a contract clause to protect the club if Barton is charged by police and jailed over his bust-up with Ousmane Dabo.

Barton was arrested and quizzed by cops over the alleged assault on his team-mate and if he is jailed, is almost certain to dumped by Toon.

Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce is prepared to take a risk on Barton, who also stubbed a cigar out in a team-mate's face.

looks like a done deal

This is coming from the Sun now I'm not saying the deal isn't going to happen but i like to stay away from anything the Sun says interms of player movement. they for me are the worst source for transfer rumours.

Check theworldgame.com.au - it looks like Scott Parker will head to West Ham to replace Reo Coker.  In turn, Magpies replace Parker with Barton.
If anyone can turn a man's career around it's Big Sam - Anelka, Okocha, Davies et al...

Phew! There was talk of Barton coming to West Ham but the Barcodes can have him. I'd prefer to have Parker playing with us next season. Was supposed to be a done deal by yesterday so hopefully no hiccups there.

Marcus Bent is our number target for a striker but if that falls through then Yakubu.

We're also hoping that Everton make an offer for NRC so a deal could be made to bring Cahill to WHUFC. Aston Villa are the only club so far to make a firm offer so we'll need to hold out for a bit there.

Nicky Shorey and Andrew Johnson are others we have asked about but their respective clubs unlikely to let them go.

Kolo Toure and Makelele have been mentioned too but that just made me laugh.

You sure thats the right Bent? If your main target is Marcus Bent you are gtting a dud.

I definately think also that Barton isn't a better player then Parker. I thought Parker was one of the better Newcastle players last year abit srprised they would let him go.

Please God tell me you meant Darren Bent...

We have officially signed Parker which is fantastic, at least 4 clubs have delcared interst in both Reo-Coker and Harewood who is available on a free.

Cahill's a target? sweet...!

As a toon fan I am not surprised Parker has left, he seemed to lose a bit of passion and commitment for the team and when he got a bit of jip from the fans he acted inappropriately.

Will be interested to see if Big Sam can tame Joey barton, will bring a bit of bite into midfield.

missing out on Tal Ben Haim is abit of a blow for Newcastle as i think there defence is far below par. I think look for a couple of centre backs to strengthen that area before they look to buy anyone else.

Apparently City sold him with a " Get out of Jail Free " card to anyone who will have him.Probably won't have to vist his brother as much which should help him, by not having to go " inside " every week . Overall another average Newcastle signing which should see them clear of bottom 3,but Big Sam maybe able to control this lunatic ????????

But of irony at the beginning of this thread, and where it will go now.

QPR should be ripping his contract up as we speak.
