I will be interesting to watch the premier league match opening credits tonight to see what changes and players get featured. last year Fabregas and Ade got shown in posed for (not match) footage.

Liverpool are one dodgy hamstring and one dodgy groin away from 5th spot

Sad but true.
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

it would be appropriate though if Man City make the top 4
nothing sums up the EPL like spending to win

when 4th became as good as 2nd you knew it was a bad scene

The first credits that were just on were interesting... liverpool only had the gerrard camera kiss from last year - less than man city who featured a couple of times. RVP and fab were prominent, as were a couple of ManU and chelsea shots. Johnson's cracker from last season and an awesome goal from Bburn. Plus bentleys lucky shot against the arse

A suspiciously middle eastern fan was shown watching his television a few times... hmmm i wonder why

I agree with the top-four predictions which started this thread, except I'd bracket Man City and Arsenal together.
However, spending oodles of dosh didn't win anything for Man City last season, whereas Abramovitch's millions brought almost instant success to Chelsea from the instant Maurinho became their manager. Luck or a fortuitous combination of ingredients or whatever you want to call it does play a part, I think. Chelsea were'nt guaranteed such instant success just because they spent a lot- plenty of other clubs (i.e. Liverpool, one of the biggest spenders over the last decade) have spent heaps and are yet to win the Premiership.
I'm picking Spurs as my "dark horse" who could make the Top Four this year- Redknapp is an experienced and wily coach just ready to take a team to the next level and he's assembled a useful squad without splashing the same amounts as other clubs. They'll push Arsenal for the title of "Best London Club" anyway. Even if they did lose the pre-season Wembley Cup to Celtic, with our own Chris Killen scoring.
Regarding this match and other Premier League pre-season games, there's quite a misleading news piece from the local "Sportsfreak" site recently posted on Yellow Fever's news page headlined "Pre-Season Shenanigans":

From:  "Pre-Season Shenanigans" by Sportsfreak on Friday 14 August:

" For the record, Killen scored, and Celtic became inaugural holders of the much coveted Wembley Cup.

This was such a useful build-up that they promptly went on to lose to Dynamo Moscow at home in the first round of the Champions League a few days later.

But dont tell IMG that. In their eyes Celtic won prestige."

Ahhhhhh.....Actually the writer of this doesn't seem to be up-to-date with the fact that Celtic actually won the second leg of their Champions League qualifier 2-0 in Moscow. But, don't let facts get in the way of your pre-conceived opinions, eh?

Hey, as Kiwis, shouldn't we also be celebrating All White Chris Killen's awesome pre-season form for Celtic as well?

This bodes well for the World Cup play-off in October and November as does the fact that Shane Smeltz has already scored 5 times in Gold Coast's first two A-League games!!!

Erm Mourinho good manager though he was at Chelsea basically won " almost instant success" with a team largely designed by his predescessor Ranieri. Ranieri was hardly a failure, he got them to 2nd in the prem in 2003-04.

Top 6, they'd still be pushing it.

look if Man City take either Chelsea or MUFC's place in the top 4 I shed no tears
but if we look a the correlation between the chequebook and "success"
then it would be most likely Arsenal make way for City

the good news for Arsenal is they had the presence of mind to sign Arsene Wenger

if anybody can Arsene can

Funny that - we've always been the team who could make the top four this year, last year, the year before that...

I don't see it myself (sometimes blind loyalty and unbridled optimism does give way to harsh reality).  But I do think Spurs are up for a Europe spot.  Give them another season or two and if 'Arry can retain his line up of young talent they could be serious contenders.  Just not now.

Norf Lundun cup are always the games the team gets up for.  Always immense satisfaction getting one over those irksome neighbours.

LOL Wenger has never lost to spurs in the premiership... 0 from 24... is that the most one-sided derby in the EPL?

and like they been lucky to get draws
how many managers they had since Wenger showed up?

anyway Spurs will return at some point, such fluctuations in standards are surely cyclic.

Better not push Drogba too hard, she might fall over (and there's no video citing).
