if we hadn't of won I'd be in despair, only missed 12 goals.

Gibbs and Sagna very good, Diaby, Santi , Le Coq excelleent, Wilshire best on show.

Walcott was appalling. I mean that kindly, but missed 6 goals. Seriously. Both Ox and Arsh should have come in to relieve the obvious pressure he was feeling, cringeworthy stuff.

Only caught the last 20 minutes, looking at the starting lineup it was awesome to see Cazorla and Wilshere pushed further forward and Coquelin getting a run - just seemed to be more balanced, at least on paper! Cazorla has gone a bit stale in the hole behind the striker and I wondered when he would get a run on the wing

Ramsey came on as CM and not left or right wing, think Wenger is learning...

It's a shark wind up though isn't it?

I mean no one is gonna believe we put a 30m bid in for anyone.

Three for me, and two for them.

Was at the game last night and it was very cold. Diaby is surprisingly massive, but I suppose being surrounded by Carzola, Wilshire, Leon Britton, etc helps to give that illusion. Wilshire was excellent, first half was terrible, um.....it was very cold

Anyone drawing conclusions that Brade Hangeland could be on the cards to move to the Emirates?

Wenger was interested in the past and Hangeland will walk away from Craven Cottage on a Free in May...

Best performance of the season for me which is weird considering we easily could've lost at the death... when michu came on I thought here we go then

Walcott missed many... but I can forgive him since he's been very deadly this season, and we still won. Him on the right and giroud centrally should be evident in our strongest eleven. Giroud's touches around the box are excellent and I think the goals will flow for him when we're consistently playing well.

That midfield was hot, even though diaby was still a wee bit rusty. Cazorla and Arteta should be afraid for their starting central positions after seeing that. Havent seen the stats but must be just about the most possession we've had all season, and against swansea who like to keep it, and usually do.

Wilshere went to another level in the 10 role, surely has to start there ahead of cazorla - I wanted rosicky there with cazorla on the wing but this will do!

Cavani bid sounds like bollocks but then wenger did say we will spend big the other day.... he never says that

fudgeing cold (don't know if I mentioned that), game on TV, Arsenal have not been playing particularly well recently, lack of interest in the early rounds of the FA Cup (and not the reduced ticket prices you get in the early rounds of the Rumblelows Cup).

Another thing I noticed is how bad lots of Arsenal fans are at chanting.  One guy tried to start some kind of new hybrid chant where he mixed up the words to two chants with the same tune, and sung "Are you watching in disguise" which was just bonkers.  There were also lots of different pockets of fans singing "Red Army" - I am not sure if this is a traditional song but seems to me to be a variation of the "Green Army" song that Plymouth sing, that was made famous by an insurance advert.  If Arsenal are taking songs from Plymouth Argyle, things are looking bad (although the atmosphere wasn't bad and there were plently of what I believed to be the traditional Arsenal songs)

'Red army' is sung every game, pretty simple one to catch on. lol at 'Are you watching in disguise?'. Are you sure he wasn't saying 'Are you Tottenham in disguise?' though? And yes, it was fudgeing freezing. Very happy Jack scored as extra time would have iced me over.

On attendance, it was virtually a sell-out (58,359). Another factor for being 2,000 odd short of a sell-out was that tickets only went on sale last week.

I was more wondering if "Red Army" is something that has always been sung (ie past 20-30 years) or if it only came to prominance since the TV adverts.

And there seemed a hell of a lot more than 2,000 empty seats there, and not just in the 10 minute period at the start/end of the halfs.

The 59,000 figure is the ticket sold figure. Which includes all the season tickets. Certainly weren't 59,000 in the place.

Yeah there were probably less people there than the headline figure for the reasons listed above, but they always count season ticket holders in the attendance figure so we're comparing apples with apples there.

Edit: I just saw on SSN that Chelsea had their lowest league turnout in more than five years last night too.

Re: Red Army, not sure. Never attended 20 years' ago.

Sounds like we're waiting til the last week of the window, and that we are seriously looking at Zaha and Cavani. Quotes:

Zaha:

"We are looking at him, but at the moment we have not made any bid for him," Wenger said.

Cavani:

"I like him as a player," said Wenger. "Will he cost a lot of money? That's for sure. Nobody would deny that.

"Our banker lives just next to me at the moment and he is ready if we find the right player."

Timing:

"The prices go always up at the start of the transfer market and go down in the last week. Sometimes as well they go up in the last week, but it depends," he said.

"Most of the time they go down in the last week and you know as well that 90% of transfer activity happens in the last week if not in the last 48 hours."

So for Secret Santa at family Christmas I walked away with an Arsenal 2013 desk calendar! I've just gone through who features and thought you might also have a chuckle;

Jan - The OX - Good choice, knocking on first team door

Feb - Aaron Ramsey - OK choice, squad player currently

March - Gervinho - OK choice, squad player currently

April - Szy - Good choice, first team keeper

May - Alex Song - Poor choice, he doesn't play for us

June - Sagna - Good choice, first choice RB

July - TV5 - Good choice, club captain and all

August - Koscielny - Good choice, constantly battling with Mertesacker for a spot

September - Gibbs - Good choice, starting left back

October - Walcott - Good choice, starting forward

November - Mikel Arteta - Good choice, starting midfielder & Vice Captain

December - Andre Santos - poor choice, probably the worst player on the books

Of the 12 months of the year, arguably only 7 are first team regulars. 1 doesn't play for us, 1 is absolutely rubbish.

No inclusion of Podolski, Giroud, Wilshire, Cazorla!

Can' t see anyone coming during this window after the Prof said this:

"We can spend money if it is for a player we think gives us a plus," he said.

"We can strengthen everywhere. You can come out of any game and think, ‘We gave some cheap goals away against Manchester City'. At the moment it is more important that the team remains focused. If we find something, we will do it.

"Listen, [with regards to] Cavani; Napoli are playing for the title and the Champions League in Italy. What is Napoli's interest in selling Cavani? None, unless you say, ‘OK, we will pay twice the price of what the player is worth'.

"On top of that, all the players who can strengthen us are cup-tied in the Champions League."

Wenger says he weighs up the extra spend against what he might lose by not qualifying for the Champions League, but is confident his squad will do it anyway.

"Even if you buy somebody, you have no guarantee that you will be in the top four," he said. "We want to be in the top four of course. That's the priority."

Plus he can be placed back on the wing and stop thinking he's a centre forward.

Victor Valdes not signing a new contract with Barcelona, he has been linked with a few clubs including Arsenal.

My pick is he goes to PSG as all other major clubs around europe have a settled number 1

No thanks to valdes. He'd get monstered on the corners/freekicks in england. I'd like an experienced back-up for Szcezzer, not dissimilar to when arsene signed Mart Poom. He can't be too good otherwise he won't want to sit on the bench. Ironically Almunia would be perfect hahahaha

Theo re-signs awesome.

As disappointing as it is, I'm getting really sick of nearly every article to do with Arsenal mentioning that we haven't won a trophy since 2005. Why don't they mention that a certain giant club haven't won a league title since 1990!!! 23 years ago!!

Newcastle have agreed a deal with Montpellier for Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa

This guy has big wraps on him, seems Newcastle is now becoming the team to pick up players with real promise, and then they move onto bigger clubs, sound familiar?

Probably because they have won trophies, both domestic and European, since then.

They still get routinely mocked for not having won the league in over 20 years.

We really need to get something out of this Chelsea game.

first half this morning was so crap, i know the refs decisions didnt have but for both goals we lost the ball far too easily. Man what the hell is going on with Sagna he's been pretty rubbish lately. We really need a geniune DMF, i quiet like franics coq but he gets too carried away with attacking and we all know diaby isnt a dmf. 4th seems miles and miles away for us this season, if we cant get a champions league spot this season i will be gutted. Good finish from Wally this morning but after all his dramas with the contract and payrise he needs to keep banging them in. I'm really starting to wonder if we will any consistant form this season.

Tough, tough decisions for both goals conceded. It was amusing to see Sky Sports give MoM to Ramires after accusing him of diving and cheating in their half time wrap up.

Still, we are utter rubbish in the first half. Is it too much to ask to start a game as well as we finish them...
