ended up watching it live his morning, Coq was excellent again. Giroud made great impact once he came on i thought. Can't believe theo is on 140K. Once Alexis, Wilshere and Welbeck are back that will give Wenger some hard calls to make on the line ups. i'd be pretty happy if we only just sign another DMF, i think in some of the big away games we need to have 2 dmf's playing really.

Just having Cech there fills me with confidence, great signing

Is Wilshere injured again?

It doesn't matter how much Walcott is on. Whatever the real number is it will be less than what our most valued players earn (or will earn within a year or so). Whatever he is on must be the going rate for a forward at a top 4 club, particularly with the English premium. We are one of the richest sports clubs in the world, the stadium is paid off and we charge the highest ticket prices. The club can afford it so it's better to keep the player than lose him to a rival for the sake of a few grand.

Few snippets from Twitter (reliability unknown):

@JimmySlate_: As mentioned a few days ago with his terms contract value £22m plus EPL and CL appearance and goal bonuses (Theo)

@JimmySlate_: Waiting for the info on SC19 deal today. Wasn't expected due to age however have fended off 3 bids this window so wanted to secure #Arsenal

@JimmySlate_: @livlan I know of 2 from athletico Madrid. The 3rd was not named. Final athletico bid turned down was £18.5m

@JimmySlate_: Those that asked SC19 deal £7.3m over 2 years plus bonuses with view to add extra year so 2+1 contract standard for over 30 players #Arsenal

@JimmySlate_: And Theo isn't on £140k a week. Including bonuses if he plays 3 games a week maybe. Tier 1 player not parity with Sanchez though #Arsenal

22m over 4 years equates to about 105k a week plus appearance and goal bonuses. Doesn't sound unreasonable.

Mourinho complaining about Arsenal playing defensively is the icing on the cake.

Hearing mourinho whinge about others buying the title, and now us for apparently playing defensively, you just couldn't write a better script.

Then Wenger snubs his handshake twice, even though we won the game. I know he has a rep for being a sore loser with the handshakes, but to do that this morning after winning shows that Wenger thinks he's as much of a scumbag as we do.

Brilliant.

I'm disappointed with the handshake snub.

Arsenal is about class. Stooping to Mourinho's level just makes him/us look like sour dick's.

I'd have much preferred he shook his hand and gave him a quiet word or three.

But, meh... the season starts now... giddy up!!!

Yeah not sure about this no handshake business.

Good sports and all that.

Looking forward to the weekend and having no CL qualifiers.

Meh, non-issue. Mourinho is seething about this result I reckon. Complaining about other teams trying to buy trophies and parking the bus is gold. It really gets to him that despite everything he's won pretty much everyone outside Chelsea despises him.

Anyone else go to see Alan Davies over the weekend? Really funny again (also saw him when he was here a couple of years ago) and he made a couple of Arsenal related jokes that felt a bit lost on a Wellington audience. He was talking about laughing when his kids hurt themselves and mentioned he can't help giving them an "accidental" elbow which Tony Adams would call a "free one." Also another story about taking his daughter to a soft play area and he had to climb everything with her. He had to squeeze through a tiny tunnel and came out of it in agony thinking "that's it, I've done my cruciate, I'm going to be out for a year like Theo Walcott."

Got to meet him briefly after and get a photo. Mentioned that I enjoy listening to the Tuesday Club and he said it was good it reaches this far and that they really enjoy doing it when they get the chance.

Man I love Arsene.

I hadn't picked up on this before, but in the pre-community shield press conference, when asked about his holidays he said;

"I had a few days off, but I spent most of my summer at the training ground,” he said. “Not the whole holiday, but most of it. When I go on the beach I am in the press the next day. Where do you want me to go? So I go to the training ground."

Back in Wellington in time for a new season and have been pretty excited about how good we're looking. Guess we all know that pre season form doesn't count for much though right.

Anyway, hello all. Should get on to my season tips.

Although yes, we are the Arsenal, there aren't many hypercunnies quite like Moronio. If Arsene was skipping a handshake with Alex Ferguson or even the Fat Spanish waiter then I'd feel a bit let down.

Mourinho had his back to Wenger and clearly snubbed him just as much as he was snubbed. He's the master of making everything about him, he'd have held his hand out and milked it for all to see if he intended to shake hands.

Nope, you really couldn't. In the last 11 years we have won 7 trophies, including an unbeaten league campaign. Unlucky gramps.

If you're interested in Football Manager, some guy has simmed 1000 seasons:

The 49 game unbeaten record still stands.

Fair do. Funny when you are not interested in something one tends not to remember. Less than half of what Utd won in the same period, but if you don't close the gap even further this coming season then you never will.

Odd that. It seems like you are very interested in our trophy record, as a fair few of your comments on here relate to that topic.

And your statement about if we don't this year we never will - does that mean your expecting us to beat you this year as your team isn't strong, or we that we have a squad that will be hard to beat or is this the last season of the EPL. Ever? Little confuse about your point...

Obviously a Woolwich   supporter. With the team you have if you don't beat us  this year then you probably will not for some time. There have been too many excuses from your lot and Wenger in the last few years.

You only seem to care about mocking  other teams rather than supporting your own. Nothing wrong with the Arsenal club, rather some of their fans.

I just watched the highlights of the Community Shield game. It was a nice touch to have David Rocastle's widow present the shield to the team. Ryan Rocastle was by her side as well. He was the mascot at the 2001 FA Cup final.

Says the guy who continues to refer to our club with a name it hasn't had for 100 years and is always the first one in here when something he is "not interested in" comes up. You don't find many people calling your lot Newton Heath.
