My general rule is never to get a name on the back because they always leave and then you can't wear it again. My partner gave me last season's shirt with my own name on the back for Christmas but other than that I've never had a player name.

ahhh, Adebayor. I genuinely forget how amazing he was before he left. The man could have been a legend....little did we know how mad he would turn out to be.

I have a blue Giroud away shirt from his last season with us. It was the shirt where he scored his 100th goal for Arsenal. Worst of all though would have to be my gold Sega away shirt with Cole 3 on it.

Thoughts on Auba contract gents?

I’m slightly worried the money required to keep him is setting us up for Ozil round 2.

I know they’re different players, but I’m unsure we can risk another huge pay day on a star beyond their peak.

The counter argument is we need his goals - but there is a solid risk he drops off the pace/can’t keep banging in 20 a season.

If we cut ties now we have the money on his contract available to replace those goals.

If we don’t cut ties now and he doesn’t perform we are absolutely fudgeed.

i think re-sign

We wont be able to replace those goals with that money anyway

I think he indicated before the end of the season that he will re-sign.
I'm for it, he is still class and has a place in Arteta's system. Without him, we do not have a goal scorer and they are always pretty hard to pick up in the market.

As for Ozil, while he needs to go, we do need to replace him with a creative player. We've got handy creative wide players, but there still a need for a player who can do this centrally and help dictate play.

Some rumours around Grealish as ManU appear to be more interested in Sancho now.

Not sure about that one, or if we could even get near the valuation, but he is the type of player that would fit the bill.

What the hell are we going to do about Ozil. I see his agent has come out and said he's going nowhere until his contract is up - end of next season. We cannot go into the season without sorting this out. Either he is integrated into Arteta's set-up, or he goes, whatever it takes.

Grealish is a good player and contrary to some people's opinion I think he's a hard worker. Happy to grind in games when it's required. Would be a great signing for Arsenal imo

Team for tonight?

I reckon:

                   Martinez

         Holding-Luiz-Tierney

Bellerin-Ceballos-Xhaka-Saka

             Pepe-Laca-Auba

Yep that would be mine bit I think Arteta might go more defensive with AMN on the left again.

Would love to see him in a false 9 role feeding Pepe & Auba, he’d be brilliant but not for the money they want sadly.

AMN was a good shout, rather have him start and keep Saka up the sleeve if needed.

Fudgeing happy to win the Cup and always special to beat them. Regardless of the Europa aspect and what it means for the future of the club is just so special to win another Cup and confirm this as our competition. The 8th win in 9 finals in my time as an Arsenal fan. When they scored and we couldn't get into the game I thought it was anther Baku coming. That first 20 minutes it was so easy for then to walk through our midfield and they just had so much space.  But we definitely had the better of the first half from the penalty on. And what a perfect penalty that was. Felt it could have been a red card too given he was pulled down from behind when through on goal but with our luck with VAR this season I almost expected them to overturn it. Weird getting to have a big game and get the better of all the decisions.

What a finish from Aubameyang for the second. He's just incredible. Only player we have who would start for every other club and we have to do everything possible to keep him, but if he does go he leaves as a club legend having won us a cup as Captain with the goals in the semi and final.

So happy for Martinez too. 10 years at the club waiting for his chance will all feel worth it now. And huge for Arteta to get the early trophy. No going trophy less forever like Moyes or Pochettino.

That game rates down there with the Phoenix performance against WSW. I expected more from both teams and got treated to A League standard. and WTF was with that crap prior to the kick off? Only thing missing was a group hug.

Been buzzing all day. Am recovering from a ruptured achilles so celebrating the 2nd goal was the most athletic thing I've done for 6 months!

Winning trophies is what it's all about. And even better that we force Spurs into the qualifying rounds.

Loved the Ceballos celebration for the second goal too. He brings a lot of passion and always seems to be the first one there to celebrate with the scorer.

I missed the first 20 of the game as the day trip we were on to the islands off Split went late. Ran off the yacht and found these legends with 2 spare seats for the mrs and I. Great to watch a final and have a beer without feeling like I had a problem!

What a huge win for us, salvages the season to some degree.

Absolutely love that it means Spurs have to qualify for the Europa League, whereas we go straight to the group stages.

The squad had 6 Hale End graduates in it yesterday. And that doesn't include three others we signed as teenagers - Bellerin, Martinez and Holding.

Impressive.

Feels like we're on a good upward trajectory now.

Time to sign that contract Auba! Waiting on this for my new shirt purchase. Think I'll get Auba, FA Cup badges, no.14, it all just fits together so nicely.

How do you get FA Cup badges? I see the club are selling the Always Forward 14 shirts. I thought I might just get the new shirt with Aubameyang 14 on the back in the club font but the only options for patches were the EPL and EL ones.

I love how the new kit has gone back to red socks as well. I've been banging on about doing that for years.

We are such a terrible selling club, our record sale was Overmars in 2000 for £36m to Barcelona.

Anyway, apparently these are the 9 we’d be open to selling to raise funds to rebuild:

  1. Lacazette
  2. Guendouzi
  3. Mhikitaryan
  4. Torreira
  5. Bellerin
  6. Kolasinac
  7. Holding
  8. Mustafi
  9. Sokratis

Ozil is the other name, but given his wage bill and his agents chat I can’t see him going. With every week of not being available he burns his legacy and slowly fades into the dark. Instead of a graceful exit back to Turkey or the USA to finish his career.

Edit: apparently that would fund an Auba new contract, Coutinho, Willian, Partey, a Ceballos extension, and another new CB.

Insane amount of moving parts but would be an upgrade - I think.

If we got a good offer for Auba I'd still be open to selling him (an unpopular opinion evidently).

I'm quite happy if he stays but 250k a week for three years carries a clear risk at his age... sure, he may not be an Ozil - but he could well fall away in year two or three and we're stuck with him. Anyway - any deal has risk but I'm equally happy to sell him if the money goes back into the squad... we keep Laca for another year or two; get a good attacking mid/game manager, keep Ceballos hopefully and another CB in this window, and possibly upgrade a gun striker with Ozil's money once he's finally out the door.

Either way... interesting times!

Sounds like Willian could be on. Free transfer, 3 year deal being offered.
