Also why no more subs? Why not bring on Iwobi/Nketiah at the expense of a defender?

What a sad, sad end to Wengers reign. 6th place, out of all cups including a semi-final and a final.

The absolute STATE of our crossing today. Monreal and Bellerin should be fined.

In the end two pieces of rubbish defending cost us.

Lost it in the first leg. Should've been a few goals up. Narrow away loss should've made no difference.

A sad end to Wenger's reign.

"Proud of the performance" but came up short was probably the fitting way for Wenger to bow out of Europe. Ultimately it was lost in the first half last week when we should have had the tie killed off. Guess we've come full circle now. UEFA Cup team when he joined and he leaves us as one too.

Delighted with the news that Stoke have been relegated. Them and their tribe of mutant orcs can fudge off and hopefully never return.

While a great win and a great way to send of Wenger, it did look as if Burnley were playing in sand for most of the match.

also, how awesome is that stat going around about Auba's goals all coming from closer than the penalty spot, something like 145 out of 150 of them!! just awesome.

Also, I like Mhki as our alternative to Ozil, he does the setup work, but also gets into dangerous spaces as well. Glad we have him. Our attack could be quite lethal next year.

I really love the look of him since he's come in.

He's so industrious round the pitch, and his shots are a little bit unpredictable, the angles he goes from, and goal placement, he could score many goals in the right set-up.

Loving the idea of him on the right of front 4 like this next season;

        Laca

Auba-Ozil-Mkhi

He's very Rosicky-esque imo; he's a real all-action sort of player.

Going to be interesting to see what the new manager does with Laca/Auba. I have a feeling that we'll end up being more structured away from home with maybe only one of those two starting.

Who knows until that new manager is named, though..Seems like Allegri is doing the rounds again.

As much as I've wanted him gone I still couldn't help shedding a tear that's it's come to an end like this. Nice that we scored a few goals and gave him a good send off. Seemed kind of fitting that it was his final big signings who got the goals too.

I love that when Wenger took the microphone on the pitch his first words were to wish Alex Ferguson well. The type of class we expect from this club.

Also going to miss Mertesacker. Good player for us and very underrated I felt. That performance in the Cup Final after having not played for a year was one of the great individual performances for Arsenal.

My only solace watching this performance live was watching Chelsea fans in pieces missing out on ECL.

Felt the red card for Mavropanos was harsh, but not unreasonable. The penalty also looked weak, as did a lot of decisions that went for Leicester when compared to decisions that didn't go for us.

3-1 flatters them big time.

Vardy is a COD, so glad we didn't sign him.

Edit: Also thought Kolasinac looked bad for their opening goal, while Mhiki had a poor second half chasing his own tail trying to make it all come together.

Apparently, Arsenal have finalised their 5 man shortlist to replace AW. Not sure who they are, but id imagine that Allegri is in there and is at the top of the pile. Other two I'd guess would be Jardim and Nagelsmann. Then maybe some former players such as Arteta and Vieira to round out the list. Not a bad set of options.

Looks like Low is out due to WC commitments. While Enrique is well liked by people at the top, he may be out of the running due to salary demands. But that would put him in the running to replace Conte at Chelsea.

Isn't it ridiculous that in Chicago you could watch it live but in London, it wasn't on TV and nor was any other game on that night. The way TV broadcasting in the UK is set up is absolutely ridiculous.

100% agree, that's another level of stoopid. Although I did have to Uber across town when they didn't have the NBC extra channels it was playing on, only bloody cheslea v huddersfield.

It's an attempt to get people to attend games if they live locally, isn't that the idea?

I think it's got logical reasons behind it, even if it must suck when you just want to watch it on tv, or the game is sold out.

It's really interesting to think about how our team might set up and play next season. We have no idea until a Manager is appointed I guess. And if it was someone like Arteta we'd still have no idea at all until they got on the pitch. No matter who is selected I'm going to be watching all the pre-season, it will be filled with intrigue.

I read a letter on F365 that got me thinking. If we had a midfielder sitting deeper, staying with Granit, and letting the front 4 have total freedom, we could have a real platform. Ramsey and Wilshere are both thick with rumours of leaving. If they both went, it actually wouldn't be a total disaster. I love them both, I think they're great players, personally I would prefer them to stay, but if we replaced them with a strong, combative defensive midfielder, with Xhaka distributing next to him, you can give LMAO total freedom, and there's many different ways you could try setting them up. I reckon many many Managers could get results out of that, it would be a good platform to start with.

If the new guy was experienced it would allow for most of the time and money to be spent on the defence too...

Probably.

Latest talk is it's a direct choice between Allegri and Arteta. Very different prospects.

I'd get in behind either one. Allegri would feel exciting having won 4 doubles in 4 years in Italy, as well as 2 champions league finals, but at the same time Arteta would be a feel-good factor, much-loved as a player, kind of our Zidane-esque appointment.

Allegri just ruled himself out in the media; so, Arteta it is then.

Underwhelming is an understatement. If we got someone like Nagelsmann, who is young but has experience, I'd feel a lot better about it.

Arteta just doesn't seem right. He was a good player but not exactly a club servant or legend and is yet to take the reigns in the managers role at any club. Surely this is where Viera is a better option? Allegri's comments are exactly what you'd say in his position, not exactly explicitly stating he wouldn't move.

Well, it's over. What a strange feeling it is to know we'll never see Arsenal under Wenger again. Thought today was a good away game from us, amazed we couldn't muster it all year previously! Huddersfield should feel hard done by, although I don't get a sh*t because whenever we're the Huddersfield in that scenario the narrative is always 'classic Arsenal'.
