There's been a lot of wishing your rivals well lately.  So, in that spirit, let me go on the record: I hope Arsenal and Sunderland both lose this weekend.

Stripes!

Doloras, Fortean Times, all those others - they mean nothing to me.

It really does need posting again:

I'm not very happy that Arsenal and Sunderland got a point each.  As for the result at SJP, anyone claiming that it was a consequence of expressing hate for other teams is way off track.

Toffees will be tired after Reading in the FA Cup.  Feeling pretty well-disposed to them at the moment, so I hope they win that before losing with dignity in the weekend.

See!?!   See what you get for respecting the enemy and wishing them well in their other endeavours!?!

NUFC blog has an entry on Pardew's scouting system.  A bit of a puff piece, but there's the amateur shopping lists in the comments to think about, too.  They also discuss three high-profile targets.

They also have a very unflattering picture of Shane Ferguson.  Take note, though - if you hear a Toon fan talking about "Fergie", there's a decent chance it's this lad.

Another win over the Gunners.  Yawn.

If the name "Greg McDermott" sounds a bit familiar - yeah, this guy is his dad.

edit: I don't think I linked to this at the time, but Paul Wilson's blog on the First Team's comeback against Arsenal was in very good taste.

Pretty congested in mid table and the matches this weekend aren't clear

us vs stoke (away)
Mackems vs Pyul (Stadium of "Light")
Toffees vs Fulham (Merseyside)

A win for us and a loss for safc will see a swap of positions...

I like Stripes' posts. He has some good links which I wouldn't have found and has a better up to date understanding of the team.

A pity Tommy S has gone a bit quiet.

You must admit Paulm that Stripes is giving you lot an invitation to spam on this thread. Normally your lot just come on in to everyone else's with a whole lot of stoopid (but not you... mostly!).

If I wanted to get into a flame war with Gunners fans, I'd just post true things about Arsenal in their sub-forum.

hey thats just what I did. will be interesting to see what the reaction is. take it as it is meant and give me a constructive answer, or turn into their manager, go all sulky and sput the dummy.

Captain Marveaux is still in play.  (If your French isn't up to task and you don't want to bung the thing through google translate: he's denying talking to the English press about signing for Liverpool and reaffirming his loyalty.  In other words, "make me a better offer".)

I hear he's a good player, though I've never watched him in a game.  However, his nickname goes well with Jonas'.  Perhaps Joey Barton will grow his sideburns until we win the league?

Reserves lose 4-2 at West Ham. Goals for Phil Airey and Greg McDermott.

The Chronicle is continuing to campaign for Barton and Nolan to get England call-ups.  I have no idea why - it's not as though England has a reputation for looking after Newcastle players.  They also carry an interview with Beardsley about Kuqi's influence on the Reserves.

In other news, Phil Airey is hoping that Newcastle gets relegated.

Stoke @ Britannia soon. Stripes - you have this as a draw.

Would be happy with a point but I think this will be quite a hard ask.

Too many injuries to wide players.  Also, I was too tired to get up and watch the game.

Ah, so you've started following Newcastle!  Great news, welcome aboard!  Please make sure that your unrealistic expectations are securely stored - this may be a bumpy ride!

Oh, and how are those red-shirt-wearing types you used to support doing?  (Manchester United, wasn't it?)

Ah, the old, "shake-Ashley-out" fan position.  Well, we're all keeping our fingers crossed for a man on a white horse, but I don't think relegation will make that any more likely.
