Good point. But we got more squad depth now.

Current squad:

GK - Gomes, Cudicini, Alnwick
CB - King, Woodgate, Dawson, Bassong, Dervite?
SB - BAE, Corluka, Kaboul, Bale
SMF - Lennon, Kranjcar, Bentley
CMF - Palacios, Hudd, Moddle, Jenas
CF - Defoe, Pav, Crouch

Got keane, hutton, o'hara, taraabt, and giovani on loan. Plus we got the younguns like dervite, walker, danny rose, bostock.

I reckon we need 3 more decent players to keep that depth. Centre back, side back. striker.

Really hope we can fork out for a world class striker. I wonder if a one year deal for an old geezer like van nistelrooy, toni, klose will be done?

Taraabt is probably surplus to requirements (and he seems to want to be as well).

Would be keen to see how Gio DS has progressed at galatasserey.  Sunderland and Newcastle were keen on Hutton and of course Celtic want to keep Keane.  Also there was the other young kyle (?) on loan as well

On the other side of the ledger Eidur wants to stay.

Agree we should look for another striker - as good as ours are I don't think they are "world class"

Do we need another CB?  I guess Ledley's knees are the weak link here but may be good for another season...

Bale, BAE, Corluka stay.  Who out of Hutton or Kaboul goes (or does one of the young  Kyles go)?

I reckon hutton goes. Sell him to sunderland unless he wants to be a squad player.

Kaboul has been playing so well since he rejoined, although his defence is still dodgey. But as a spurs fan, I'd much rather he be good on attack.

I think kyle naughton is on loan and kyle walker is still here. He's the guy with the wide head, who had a shocker against sunderland.

Yeah taraabt has freely admitted to the press he'd rather play in spain due to style of football.

Not sure how gio has been doing. not so good last i hear.

heh heh.  As spurs fans we expect all our players to be good on attack.

Would really like gio to come back and do well, but if he's struggling with Galatasserey...

Was really happy when keano came back into the fold and so disappointed he hasn't found his form (on the pitch).  Although he's doing well with Celtic I'm a bit apprehensive about him coming back...again.

If harry can sort out keano's attitude and make him content to play his part, starting or not, then all will be well.

I guess when I liked Keano was when he played his deep creative attacking position. With our current midfiled that is rather surplus to requirements, so unless he can cut it as an out and out forward, I think his days are numbered.

I don't think we do need another CB - Dawson, Bassong, Kaboul and King+Woodgate (50.50) = 4! For me there's not much choice of Kaboul or Hutton, big Al will be off I reckon, but we do have good cover for RB. If it's not broke, don't fix it, and they got us here after all...

Although that said, there could be some improvement up front?

The best thing about making Champ League is that no-one will want to leave, which means Man Utd's usual blood-sucking of our talent can be avoided! Keeping Luka, Bale, Gomes (yep!) & Lennon and the rest of the squad together should (hopefully!) be the most important thing to come from it.

On a side note, surely King & Dawson should be canceling any holidays they've booked and heading off to SA with England instead?!

Am happy that you got Champions league, but shows what you know about football when you start usual blood sucking from Man Utd.

Anything is possible in this crazy mixed-up season.

Even ManU are counting on some random melt-down from Chelski.

If we get 3rd it will cap a completely unbelievable season.  I was happy for us to have beaten the @rse @ WHL, chuffed when we did to Chelski, absolutely stoked to have got 4th.

Can't imagine what level of triffic i will get to if we get 3rd (because it will be at @rse's expense).

Edit:  Sorry - just taken my rational pill:  No of course we won't get 3rd.  I mean the @rse can't lose to Fulham can they?

Ha ha, I was merely making the point that for the first time in a long time we are in a position (both financially and on the playing field) to repel Man Utd's recent unwelcome purchases/being linked to/unsettling of our better-performing players - if you choose to make a judgement about my football knowledge on the basis of this then so be it...

It is almost unthinkable that fulham cant beat the arse at Emirates with the Europa final next week. 4th is sensational and im not even going to fantasise about the possibility of 3rd.

Wait till next season when we win the FA Cup (year ends in 1) and become established as a big 4 club.

Then watch all the fan base disappear when we come unstuck in the following season.

How's the new stadium coming along. 30 mill pounds would help cover the costs? And the city rates for a few years I guess

The NIMBY syndrome in effect?

Last comment sounds promising:
"The pre-app has been going on with leaders for over a year, its already been pretty much approved."

Wonder how the planning process over in London compares with the RMA process here.

The planning process in the UK is basically the same as what NZ had BEFORE the RMA. And it needs reforming here in the UK for all the same reasons that NZ reformed planning in the early 1990s. I actually think the RMA is a far better process that the old Town and c**try Planning Acts... but that's just me ;)

Well a game of two halves in which the juice run out in the second is not that surprising. Bet the Burnley fans thought they got value for money!

Last game, no chance of 3rd place as it turns out so the result is of no consequence.

Fantastic season. Great squad, great gaffer. Roll on 2101/11.

Oh yeah. Silly me.

Although I reckon dawson and huddlestone won't make the final 23. Why take huddlestone when carrick is the same but can move faster?

Nah he's still not match fit, but I think he is just playing more cautious, getting used to the pace of the game again.

Looks like we'll be seeded for the Champs League qualifier, meaning we miss the likes of Ajax, Werder Bremen, Seville and Lyon...

Ironically it is the good work of teams like ARSEnal, Man YOO and Chelski previously in Europe that will help us get seeded.

Thanks guys...

Throw in Bale, Luka, Niko, Charlie, Woodgate & Pav too and we've the basis for a strong squad there, which we'll need for our European Tour next season for sure. No wonder Arry is talking of only bringing in 'top, top players to take us to the next level'.

interesting to see how many make the final england cut. Dawson wont, surely (im personally not convinced about him, sometimes gets his positioning all wrong, Burnley was an example), huddlestone would be a big suprise, others should get there.

I will be watching Giovanni with a lot of interest. Kid had a bright future, but can he live up to the promise? He looked good, but no brilliant against England in their prep/friendly game. I wonder how he'll get on at the tournament proper.

And now Palacios named in the Honduras 23.

Yeah. I would like to see Gio do well and "come of age" as it were. The Spurs squad has a good mix of older and developing players. Hope he remains part of it.
